Ch. 1Fated Destiny

John, a transmigrator who had taken over the body of the Rocks Pirates officer, discovered that he was fated to die after the God Valley incident. Pete summoned him to Rocks’s officers’ meeting and mentioned it might concern Maron’s murder and Shakky’s disappearance.

  • John lost a roulette bet in the casino, smashed a bottle over a laughing pirate’s head, and left.
  • John revealed that he had taken over the real John’s body and that he now wielded the Logia Rumble-Rumble Fruit.
  • John sensed a death omen and recalled that his fate involved being wounded at God Valley, betrayed by his subordinates, and killed.
  • Pete told John that Rocks had summoned the officers and that the meeting might concern Maron’s murder and Shakky’s disappearance.
  • John reacted to Pete’s mention of news about Shakky.

Ch. 2Cadre Meeting

After learning that Shakky had been taken by the World Government for the Celestial Dragons’ hunting game at God Valley, Rocks assembled his crew to discuss the news. John feared the coming battle but hoped Rocks’s survival might change his own fate, while the meeting ended with the crew weighing the danger and the prizes.

  • A year after Maron was murdered and Shakky vanished, Pete warned John to keep quiet while they discussed the possibility of rescuing her.
  • John believed Rocks would go to God Valley because his family and clansmen lived there, and wondered whether Rocks surviving the battle could change his own fate.
  • John arrived at Rocks’s meeting, where Shiki complained about his lateness and the assembled pirates waited for Rocks to speak.
  • Rocks announced that the Celestial Dragons would hold a hunting game at God Valley, with Shakky, Devil Fruits, and treasure among the prizes.
  • Stussy said the report could have leaked from Marines questioning justice, while Newgate, Linlin, Kaido, and Streusen reacted to the news and its risks.

Ch. 3Have You Decided to Share the Treasure?

Rocks decided to lead the pirates to God Valley, and John worried over how to keep Rocks safe from Imu’s Black Transference. As the fleet sailed, John weighed how much of his strength to reveal and hinted to Shiki that they might discuss sharing his treasure after the battle.

  • Rocks ordered the pirates to leave the cowards behind, split the treasure equally, and sail to God Valley.
  • John concluded that his best chance of saving Rocks was to keep him from encountering Saint Saturn, since he knew no reliable way to counter Black Transference.
  • Morgans’s newspapers revealed that Shakky was alive, and the pirates of Hachinosu eagerly joined the fleet bound for God Valley.
  • John decided to keep his Logia powers secret unless circumstances forced him to reveal them.
  • Shiki asked whether John had decided to share his hidden treasure, and John told him they would talk after God Valley.

Ch. 4Taking a Shortcut

John argued that people could break past the limits imposed by their bloodlines through the mind and by using S.I.Q. on humans, and he proposed a shortcut to strength. Meanwhile, Rocks negotiated with Harald instead of fighting, leaving the pirate officers to wager on who could sink a distant World Government ship first.

  • John reflected that ordinary training could not overcome a person's bloodline and fate, and reasoned that S.I.Q. might let humans surpass those limits.
  • The Rocks Pirates spotted a Giant Tribe warship ahead, and Rocks stopped the crew from attacking after recognizing Harald aboard it.
  • Harald told Rocks that the World Government was watching and urged him to turn back, but Rocks argued that Elbaf could gain more by letting the pirates and World Government fight.
  • Rocks and Harald dismissed their followers and began talking over wine, while Shiki and the other officers grew impatient on the pirate flagship.
  • John proposed that the officers each stake ten million Beli on whose simultaneous attack would sink the distant ship first, and he put down a gemstone to join the wager.
  • Linlin refused to lend Kaido money, while Newgate realized he had no treasure to stake.

Ch. 5The Wager

John and the others wagered money and weapons on an attack against a World Government surveillance ship, which John destroyed first with a lightning strike. After the wagers were settled, an explosion aboard a massive warship signaled that negotiations had failed, and Rocks ordered his crew to leave the fighting to him and Harald.

  • Newgate, Shiki, Linlin, and several others placed stakes on a contest to destroy the surveillance ship, while Ochoku, Gloriosa, and Stussy declined to join.
  • John and the pirates launched their attacks together, but John's purple lightning struck first and obliterated the surveillance ship.
  • John collected the stakes, including Murakumogiri from Newgate, and told Newgate he could redeem it later; Linlin proposed another wager on God Valley.
  • An explosion erupted from the massive warship, and John returned Murakumogiri to Newgate as the officers prepared to fight.
  • Rocks ordered everyone to leave and not interfere as angry shouts and the sounds of battle came from the warship, including someone calling Harald a spineless bastard.

Ch. 6Justice?

Charlotte Linlin ordered the Rocks Pirates to bypass Elbaf and head for God Valley, while John reflected on kingship and spoke with Charlotte Katakuri. At God Valley, Dragon witnessed the Navy’s role in a Celestial Dragon hunting game and ran to help the victims.

  • Charlotte Linlin explained that Harald had submitted to the Five Elders and ordered the Rocks Pirates to sail directly to God Valley.
  • John judged Harald’s compromise necessary and criticized Kozuki Oden for failing to defend Wano Country when he could have defeated Kaido.
  • Charlotte Katakuri confronted John, recognized that he had changed, and chose not to tell Charlotte Linlin what he had discovered.
  • John wondered what he should do if fate could not be changed, then several days later the story reached God Valley.
  • Seventeen-year-old Dragon recalled being ordered to fire tranquilizer guns at civilians and watched the Celestial Dragons hunt the imprisoned victims.
  • Dragon overcame his despair, rose, and ran toward the screams to try to help.

Ch. 7Landing on God Valley!

Dragon fled from Saint Rimoshifu Max as the Rocks Pirates invaded God Valley and attacked the Marines. Rocks formed a temporary alliance with his crew to find Shakky, while John charged at Saint Shepherd Somaz to clear their path.

  • Saint Rimoshifu Max shot Dragon, but an explosion startled him and let Dragon escape toward the western side of the island.
  • Saint Shepherd Somaz tormented a child and his father, then abandoned the child when an explosion drew him toward the eastern coast.
  • The Rocks Pirates smashed through the Marine fleet and landed on God Valley, where John killed a Marine rear admiral.
  • Rocks proposed a temporary alliance so the crew could find Shakky and share the treasure, while his officers argued about her and the Devil Fruits.
  • John offered to handle anyone blocking Rocks as they searched for Shakky, then accelerated toward Saint Shepherd Somaz.
  • Saint Shepherd Somaz challenged John and Rocks to become prey in his hunting game.

Ch. 8Celestial Dragon? Wild Monkey!

John defeated and captured Somaz, then tortured him until his mind broke and removed his mechanical heart. He left Somaz alive and pursued Rocks, suspecting that the heart was a weakness unique to Somaz or a few others bound to Imu.

  • John sent Rocks ahead and used magnetic iron particles to trap Somaz in an Armament Haki-coated iron coffin.
  • John humiliated Somaz and threatened to make his life worse than death, then tortured him with an iron drill until his personality shattered.
  • John pierced the coffin and removed Somaz's mechanical heart, but Somaz showed no reaction.
  • John left Somaz collapsed on the ground and hurried after Rocks with the heart in his hand.
  • John wondered whether Somaz's mechanical heart was a rare weakness among those with Immortal Bodies bound to Imu.

Ch. 9Like a Dog Seeing Shit

John evaded Garp and searched for Alice and Teach, hoping to use them as bait to draw Rocks away from God Valley. He encountered the Mad Python Pirates, but Pete appeared and took them on as John flew onward.

  • Newgate, Linlin, Kaido, and the others tried to draw John into their escape from Garp, but John flew away using magnetic levitation.
  • Linlin summoned Zeus and rode the cloud away, while Kaido wished for a way to fly.
  • John used Mantra to search for Alice and Teach and detected a group of pirates who had found him through Ginny's rumors about God Valley's treasure.
  • Jonathan Barkley demanded John's treasure, and John prepared to attack the Mad Python Pirates with Conqueror's Haki Coating.
  • Pete arrived, left the pirates frozen and unresponsive, and told John to leave them to him; John flew away.

Ch. 10Good News, Fate Had Changed!

John intervened when Chaychitz Maffey attacked Dragon, who had rescued two red-haired infants from God Valley Town. He saved Dragon from execution and blasted Maffey into a warship, though he wondered if his bad luck had brought him there by mistake.

  • John considered whether Pete's Reaction Fruit made him a threat, but decided to wait and see whether Rocks survived.
  • Dragon carried two red-haired infants through the jungle, but Chaychitz Maffey tracked him down and shot him in the shoulder with a laser.
  • Maffey picked up one of the infants and prepared to kill Dragon for defying the Celestial Dragons.
  • John arrived, stopped Maffy's sword with purple lightning, and struck her away from Dragon.
  • John hurled Maffy into a coastal warship, causing its ammunition depot to explode, then flew back while wondering why he had found Dragon instead of Teach.

Ch. 11Got Greedy

John rescued Dragon and the twins, then pursued Alice and Teach to use them as leverage against Rocks. He caught up with them by the shore and trapped them in purple lightning.

  • John told Dragon that he and the twins owed their lives to Captain John, then left to search for Teach.
  • Garp learned from Sengoku that the Marines had ignored confusing reports about the civilians being rounded up, and he headed toward the clash involving Rocks.
  • John saw a dragon soar into the clouds and inferred that Rocks was fighting the God's Knights to protect Alice and Teach.
  • John reasoned that Rocks was staying behind because he wanted to kill Imu, then found Alice fleeing with Teach near the warships.
  • John confronted Alice and Teach and engulfed them in purple currents.

Ch. 12No, You Won't

John arrived at the valley battlefield carrying Alice and Teach, while Saturn appeared in his monstrous Ushi-Oni form and Rocks’s allies gathered to face him. John tried to make Rocks retreat by threatening the hostages, but Rocks trusted him and prepared to fight Saturn.

  • John carried Alice and Teach toward the valley, where black lightning heralded Saturn’s arrival in his Ushi-Oni form.
  • Rocks recognized the crowned shadow behind Saturn as the world, and Newgate, Kaido, and Linlin joined him.
  • John landed with Alice and Teach and pretended to threaten them to make Rocks leave the island.
  • Rocks told John he trusted him, then entrusted Alice and Teach to him and walked toward Saturn with his sword, Eclipse.
  • John urged Rocks to retreat, but Rocks refused and unleashed his Haki, believing the monsters were vulnerable to it.

Ch. 13Foolish Loyalty

Imu, possessing Saint Saturn through the Ushi-Oni, attacked the Marines and pirates while Rocks confronted him and Garp joined the fight. John stayed back, ruled out taking a fatal strike for Rocks, and began considering what to do as events continued along their fated course.

  • Imu controlled the Ushi-Oni and slaughtered Marines and pirates with spikes, while Garp angrily criticized the Five Elders.
  • Rocks confronted the crowned shadow, identified himself as a member of the Davy Family, and severed one of the Ushi-Oni's limbs with a slash.
  • John envied the Marines' loyalty and decided he would join their ranks if he survived.
  • When Marines asked to support Saint Saturn, Garp charged the Ushi-Oni and attacked alongside Rocks, while the rear admiral sent soldiers after the fleeing pirates.
  • John considered blocking the coming Black Transference strike for Rocks, then rejected the plan because the Ushi-Oni's Haki was too powerful and the attempt would likely kill him.

Ch. 14No One Was the Eternal Protagonist

John fled the battlefield with Alice and Teach as Rocks and the other top fighters attacked the Ushi-Oni, only for the monster to recover and corrupt Rocks. The Crown shadow sent the transformed Rocks after his wife and child, leaving Teach in danger.

  • John decided to take Alice and Teach away from the battlefield while Rocks fought with fewer restraints.
  • Kaido, Linlin, Roger, Garp, and Newgate joined Rocks in attacking the Ushi-Oni and shattered much of its body.
  • The Ushi-Oni recovered beneath a pillar of black lightning and revealed the Crown shadow as a solid entity.
  • The Crown shadow stabbed Rocks with black spikes and used Black Transference to corrupt his body and mind.
  • Rocks resisted briefly, warned the Crown shadow that new protagonists would eventually overthrow it, and then succumbed to its power.
  • The Crown shadow released Rocks and ordered him to kill his wife and child and erase the Davy name.

Ch. 15Enemy of the Entire Island

John tried to evacuate God Valley by using his Magnet-Magnet Fruit ability to pull metal and treasure across the island, drawing pirates away from the transformed Rocks. He gathered the treasure on the southern coast and forged it into a giant golden ship, as furious pirates approached to reclaim their valuables.

  • The Crown Shadow took control of Rocks and ordered him to wipe out the Davy Family, while John warned everyone on God Valley to flee.
  • John realized the Marines and pirates were ignoring his warning and decided to prevent Roger and Garp from defeating Rocks.
  • John used his Magnet-Magnet Fruit ability to gather metal across the island, dragging Dragon and the infants away from the eastern coast and luring pirates after the treasure.
  • Newgate lost his naginata and Napoleon drifted away from Linlin as the treasure and weapons swept toward John.
  • John forged the gathered treasure into a huge golden ship while Alice scolded him for shouting at Teach.
  • Pirates reached the southern coast and angrily demanded that John return their treasure and weapons.

Ch. 16Pirates' Public Enemy

John escaped God Valley aboard the Golden Ship with Alice and Teach, while Rocks rampaged across the island and the battle's survivors fled or were captured. The God Valley Incident ended with Rocks missing and the Rocks Pirates disbanded; John was later caught by Linlin, Kaido, Shiki, and Newgate, who demanded a share of the gold.

  • John took Alice and Teach aboard the Golden Ship and used its electromagnetic propulsion to flee as Gan Sui's explosive attack failed to stop them.
  • John photographed the pirates swimming after the ship and mocked them as they threatened to hunt him.
  • Rocks attacked the island's pirates, killed Gan Sui and others, and drove the remaining fighters to flee or pursue John.
  • Roger escaped from the island by ship, Garp stayed to rescue soldiers and wounded people, and Rocks's whereabouts became unknown as the Rocks Pirates disbanded.
  • Garling took Shamrock from Garp and credited Garp with defeating Rocks, while the Roger Pirates found and took in Shanks.
  • Linlin, Kaido, Shiki, and Newgate caught up to John's Golden Ship and demanded to know how he would split the gold.

Ch. 17Unequal Shares

John demanded half of the Golden Ship’s value, forcing the others to accept after he sank the ship with his magnetic power. After dividing the gold, the survivors argued over the final share, and John proposed saving it for Alice and Teach while Rocks’s fate remained unknown.

  • John demanded half of the Golden Ship’s value, but Shiki, Kaido, and Linlin refused and prepared to fight.
  • John threatened to sink the ship and used magnetic force to drag it underwater, making the others agree to his half share.
  • John raised the ship, drained the seawater, and later refined it into gold; Newgate divided the remaining gold among the group.
  • Kaido, Shiki, and the others argued over the last share, each claiming they deserved it for their actions at God Valley.
  • John suggested keeping the last share for Alice and Teach’s living expenses while he held it for them.

Ch. 18Parting

John and Newgate parted ways with the other pirates after Rocks's crew disbanded, and John sailed away with Alice and her child. Pete agreed to take responsibility for them, but privately planned to use them to locate Rocks's hidden wealth.

  • John and Newgate discussed what to do after the crew disbanded, and Newgate said he did not know where to go.
  • Four pirate ships arrived to retrieve their captains, and the pirates exchanged hostile farewells as John set sail aboard the Treasure.
  • John asked Pete to check his Vivre Card after admitting he had eaten random mushrooms, then said he would take the golden ship to his treasure site.
  • Pete agreed to take responsibility for Alice and her child, while John insisted they first be left on an island to keep his treasure site secret.
  • That night, Pete told a crew member that he intended to find Rocks's hidden wealth through his widow and child.

Ch. 19World Enemy, Legendary Pirate Captain John!

John overheard Pete’s plan to use the treasure to buy a noble title and live peacefully, then accepted that it was clever even as he vowed to challenge fate. Days later, John arrived at Ohara, where he tried to get rid of his suspicious crew while the world hunted him for his ten-billion-Beli bounty.

  • John used Mantra to overhear Pete’s ambition to buy a noble title, clear his bounty, and live in peace, and he grudgingly admired the plan.
  • John rejected a quiet life, declaring that he could not stand being lonely and challenging the goddess of fate.
  • Several days later, John’s pirate ship and the Golden Ship docked at Ohara, and John praised the island’s fresh air.
  • Alice stayed on Ohara with Teach while John took the boy ashore to buy candy, and Pete followed with the crew to protect him.
  • Pete explained that the Underworld had placed a ten-billion-Beli bounty on John and that pirates, bounty hunters, slave traders, and Cipher Pol were searching for him.
  • John told Pete and the crew to stop following him, claiming he needed no protection and wanting them out of the way.

Ch. 20Resistance Against Injustice Needs No Reason!

John and Alice took Teach to buy supplies on Ohara, where John warned Clover that the World Government’s actions at God Valley had been a massacre. He then prepared Alice and Teach to flee the pirates seeking Rocks’ treasure and took Alice’s nail to make a Vivre Card.

  • John paid for supplies and told Clover that the World Government had massacred rebels, potential rebels, and innocent people at God Valley.
  • Clover feared Ohara’s innocent residents could be endangered and proposed either leaving the island or evacuating them.
  • John, Alice, and Teach shopped while John secretly bought several unusual items and warned Alice that his pirates wanted Rocks’ treasure clues.
  • John asked Alice for a nail so he could make a Vivre Card, and she cut off her thumbnail and gave it to him.
