Ch. 41Conqueror's Haki

Van’s crew sailed toward Shimotsuki Village, where Van awakened Conqueror’s Haki and tested the system’s event rewards. The chapter ended with Elena killing Higuma on Qiangbalu’s order and isolating herself afterward.

  • Van left Foosha Village with his group and set course for Shimotsuki Village while the Red Hair Pirates prepared to depart separately.
  • The system rewarded Van for the Sorrow of the Severed Arm event with points, a Conqueror’s Haki Experience Book, and the King's Disdain ability.
  • Van used the Experience Book, releasing a burst of Conqueror’s Haki that knocked out Blue Moon and affected everyone on deck.
  • After Qiangbalu reported Elena’s strange behavior, Van told him to deal with Higuma and ordered him to have Higuma killed.
  • Qiangbalu ordered Elena to kill Higuma, and she stabbed him, threw his body into the sea, and later locked herself in the lower hold.

Ch. 42Points Surpass Ten Thousand, Strength Soars

Van learned that Drake had been accepted by Garp and received a large reward from the completed Divergent Paths event. He spent most of his points on Intermediate Lucky Bags, strengthened his physique and Haki, and ended the chapter markedly more powerful.

  • Van read that Celestial Dragons planned to visit the Goa Kingdom and worried that Garp might return to Foosha Village.
  • Drake called Van to say that Garp had agreed to take him to Marine Headquarters, and that he would soon move onto Garp’s warship.
  • Van received 12,100 points from the Divergent Paths event, bringing his total to 15,900 points.
  • Van bought and opened fifteen Intermediate Lucky Bags, receiving ten Physique Experience Books, two Observation Haki Experience Books, and three Armament Haki Experience Books.
  • Van used the experience books, raising his physique to B, his Observation Haki and Armament Haki to B-, and his overall strength to A-.

Ch. 43Kuina and Zoro

Van arrived in Shimotsuki Village, left Elena and her companions to make their own way, and asked Koshiro to let his companions train at the dojo and help him find land for a house. Koshiro agreed to meet them the next day, while Kuina and Zoro’s latest duel ended in Kuina’s victory.

  • Van gave Elena and her companions five million Berries and sent them ashore, then told Qiangbalu to stay aboard while he arranged a place to live.
  • Van went to the Shimotsuki Dojo, where Kuina asked if he had come to study swordsmanship.
  • Zoro challenged Kuina for the 999th time, but Kuina disarmed him and won as Koshiro and the dojo disciples watched.
  • Kuina introduced Van to Koshiro, and Van asked to enroll his older companions at the dojo and build a house on the island.
  • Koshiro agreed to receive Van’s companions at the dojo the next day and offered to arrange help finding a place to build.

Ch. 44Law: Don't Cry Again!

Van brought Law and the others to Shimotsuki Dojo, where Law joined the dojo after defeating Zoro in a bamboo-sword spar. Van left the group in Koshiro’s care and arranged for a house to be built in the village.

  • Van introduced Bepo, Law, and the others at Shimotsuki Dojo, and Kuina agreed to arrange their training and accommodations.
  • Zoro challenged Law to spar, and Koshiro allowed them to use bamboo swords as an entrance test.
  • Law disarmed and knocked Zoro off balance with a single exchange, then explained that he used his strength to end the fight quickly.
  • Law offered Zoro a hand, and Zoro vowed to defeat him someday while Kuina worried about the physical gap between men and women.
  • Van gave Kuina ten million Beli for the group’s tuition and told Law to protect everyone, especially Baby-5.
  • Koshiro accepted the payment and sent Zoss to take Van to the village chief so he could arrange to build a house.

Ch. 45Changes in the Sun Pirates

Van learned that Fisher Tiger had died and Arlong had been captured, so he agreed to help Blue Moon return to Fish-Man Island. He then asked Koshiro to bring Kuma to Shimotsuki Village, claiming Ginny was near death and Kuma might save her; Kuma arrived at the dojo.

  • Van received a newspaper reporting that Fisher Tiger had died after refusing a blood transfusion and Arlong had been captured by the Marines.
  • Blue Moon worried about her father and asked Van to return her to Fish-Man Island, and Van agreed to arrange her departure.
  • Van told Koshiro he knew where Ginny was and asked him to contact Kuma, explaining that Ginny would die soon and Kuma might save her.
  • Koshiro contacted Kuma, who arrived at the dojo about half an hour later.

Ch. 46Kuma

Van told Kuma that Ginny had escaped Mary Geoise but was gravely ill and racing to return to the Sorbet Kingdom, where Van might still save her. Kuma set out to find her and, before leaving for South Blue, sent Blue Moon to Fish-Man Island.

  • Van revealed that the World Government had captured Ginny and that a Celestial Dragon had taken her, but she had since escaped.
  • Van explained that Ginny had Sapphire Scales and had recently given birth to a daughter, prompting Kuma to break down in tears.
  • Van said Ginny might be saved if they found her in time, and Kuma chose to ask his friends in the Sorbet Kingdom for help while Koshiro agreed to contact Dragon.
  • Van asked Kuma to send Blue Moon to Fish-Man Island before they traveled to South Blue, and Kuma agreed.
  • Kuma used his power to send Blue Moon to Fish-Man Island, then prepared to send Van and himself after her.

Ch. 47The Fastest Time Earning Points

Van treated patients while Kuma waited for Ginny to return to Sorbet Kingdom, and Ginny finally arrived critically ill with Sapphire Scales Disease. Van saved her through surgery and used the rescue to earn system points, leaving Ginny alive but in need of recovery.

  • Kuma organized a kingdom-wide search for Ginny, while Dragon searched elsewhere in South Blue, but she did not appear for half a month.
  • Van treated a young woman’s appendicitis at the church before Kuma rushed in carrying a dying Ginny and their infant, Bonney.
  • Van told Kuma to prepare medical supplies and assured him that Ginny’s condition could be treated.
  • Van designated Ginny as a Fate Anchor, established the Rescue event, and operated to remove her diseased tissue and restore her body.
  • Van settled the Rescue event and received 4,000 points, then had 2,600 points deducted for the loan while Ginny survived and began her recovery.

Ch. 48"Mad Monk" Urouge

After curing Ginny, Van left Kuma and Bonney in the Sorbet Kingdom and traveled to a Sky Island to search for Birka and the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. There, he encountered Urouge and began fighting him.

  • Van treated Ginny's wounds and told Kuma she would recover within two or three days.
  • Van asked Kuma to send him to Birka, but Kuma had never visited it, so he sent Van to another Sky Island instead.
  • Van arrived at a Sky Island, struggled to adjust to the thin air, and was approached by Urouge and a group of Skypieans.
  • Urouge attacked Van after suspecting he posed a threat, but Van knocked him aside and overpowered him in close combat.
  • Urouge's body swelled as he reached his limit and used Karmic Punishment.

Ch. 49Urouge's Thoughts

Van defeated Urouge in a clash and persuaded him to take the temple’s boat to Birka. As they sailed, Urouge expressed interest in visiting the Blue Sea, and Van offered to bring him along without requiring him to become a subordinate.

  • Van and Urouge exchanged powerful punches, and Urouge collapsed after losing the clash.
  • After waking, Urouge told Van that Birka lay two days south along the cloud route and explained that his people lacked enough wood to build a large ship.
  • Van asked the Skypieans to provide the temple’s boat, and Urouge returned with it, along with food, water, and Dials.
  • Urouge used Jet Dials to propel the boat toward Birka while explaining how the Dials worked.
  • Urouge said he wanted to visit the Blue Sea, and Van offered to take him there while leaving him free to decide whether to join his crew.
  • Urouge agreed to help Van find what he sought in Birka.

Ch. 50Enel and the Rumble-Rumble Fruit

Van and Urouge reached Birka, where Van found the Rumble-Rumble Fruit hidden in the temple and learned that Enel was a temple guard with a poor reputation. After securing the fruit, Van established a Fate Event called Choice with Enel as its anchor.

  • Van reasoned that the missing Rumble-Rumble Fruit was likely hidden in a neglected part of Birka’s temple and headed there with Urouge.
  • Birka’s residents warned the pair about Enel and said that wingless outsiders should not enter the temple.
  • Enel arrived with four divine soldiers, then vanished when Van moved behind him; Urouge fought the soldiers while Van went to the temple.
  • Van incapacitated the divine soldiers at the temple, searched a neglected storeroom, and found the Rumble-Rumble Fruit in an old wooden box.
  • Van tested Shura as a Fate Event anchor and failed, then successfully established the Fate Event Choice with Enel as its anchor.
