Brando used the Will of the Overlord to gain powerful abilities, provoke stronger opponents, and make his way into the Grand Line. After defeating Brogy and Dorry on Little Garden, he approached their surviving heads to test whether his method would work.

• Brando awakened the Will System after taunting Luffy and gained chakra techniques, then provoked Shanks and earned the Mangekyo Sharingan and its abilities.
• Brando fought Higuma’s bandits, rescued Luffy from the Lord of the Coast, and later faced Garp before training with Ace, Sabo, and Luffy.
• Brando attacked Saint Charlos, killed the CP0 agents Linus and Sara, and left Charlos brain-dead, earning a 500 million Beli bounty.
• Brando met Monkey D. Dragon in Loguetown, refused to join the Revolutionary Army, and escaped while taunting Garp and the World Government.
• Brando crossed the Red Line, defeated Banlei in its mindscape, and made the Sea King his summoning animal before traveling toward Whiskey Peak.
• Brando reached Little Garden, provoked the giants Brogy and Dorry, and fought them as they continued their long-standing duel.

Brando killed Crocodile, forced Shukaku to become his Jinchuriki, and fought Kuzan before escaping and training in Haki. He then headed to Sabaody to target a Celestial Dragon, where he clashed with Rayleigh and fled when Kuzan arrived.

• Brando killed Crocodile in the Alabasta desert, then threatened Shukaku until the tailed beast sealed itself inside him.
• Brando read Cobra’s memories to locate Alabasta’s Poneglyph, fought Baroque Works agents, and killed several of them before Kuzan confronted him.
• Brando challenged Kuzan’s loyalty to the World Government and fought him with clones, Susanoo, and Shukaku’s power before escaping with Banlei.
• Brando gained Ryuchi Cave Sage Mode, healed, and traveled to the New World to learn Haki from Vice Admiral Doro by reading his memories.
• Brando trained Armament and Observation Haki, then decided to capture a Celestial Dragon and broadcast it live.
• Brando disguised himself as Shanks on Sabaody, provoked Rayleigh, and fought him with lightning, sword techniques, and Sharingan abilities.
• Brando fled when he sensed Kuzan approaching, while Rayleigh unleashed a sword aura at the admiral.
