Ch. 41VS Marine Admiral Kuzan

Brando fought Kuzan with Shadow Clones, Iron Sand, and a barrage of ninjutsu, but Kuzan’s strength and Observation Haki steadily overcame his defenses. Brando continued resisting despite the strain of overusing his abilities, while Shukaku mocked him.

  • Brando sent Shadow Clones and attacks made from Iron Sand and fire at Kuzan, who blocked them and used Observation Haki to locate Brando’s real body.
  • Kuzan raised ice pillars to obstruct Brando’s view, but Brando tracked him through Chakra left on metal attached to him.
  • Brando spread Amaterasu across the ice and Iron Sand, while Kuzan used ice to push the flames away and resisted the clones’ attacks with ice armor.
  • Kuzan broke through Brando’s attacks and destroyed the Shadow Clones, leaving Brando struggling to replenish his Chakra and endure the mental and physical strain.
  • Shukaku mocked Brando through their Chakra, and Brando insisted that he would become the second Sage of Six Paths.

Ch. 42Shukaku, Save Me!

Brando fought Kuzan but was overwhelmed by his speed, strength, and Haki, even after revealing Susanoo and the Tailed Beast Cloak. Just as Kuzan moved to finish him, Brando called on Shukaku, whose burst of chakra shattered the ice and began a new phase of the battle.

  • Brando and his Shadow Clones fought Kuzan, but Kuzan broke through Brando's attacks and trapped them inside ice walls.
  • Kuzan froze and shattered Brando's Susanoo, then struck Brando through his Tailed Beast Cloak and froze him against the ice wall.
  • Kuzan defeated the Shadow Clones and walked toward Brando, believing the fight was over.
  • Brando shouted for Shukaku to save him, and Shukaku mocked him before unleashing an immense burst of chakra that shattered the ice.

Ch. 43A Cough, Shukaku!

Brando joined forces with Shukaku to fight Kuzan, using Shukaku’s chakra to strengthen his techniques and challenge Kuzan’s Ice-Ice Fruit. The battle ended with both Brando and Kuzan landing blows to each other’s faces and being thrown backward.

  • Shukaku emerged and attacked Kuzan with a Tailed Beast Bomb, but Kuzan froze it and repeatedly overwhelmed it with ice.
  • Brando persuaded Shukaku to lend him its power, and Shukaku agreed after demanding that Brando punch Kuzan in the face.
  • Brando revealed himself beneath Shukaku’s sand body, gained Shukaku-like markings, and used empowered Shadow Clones to attack Kuzan with Rasenshuriken.
  • Brando used Magnet Release: Rasengan to suppress Kuzan’s Devil Fruit power while Shukaku’s sand claws tried to seal him, but Kuzan froze the area and interrupted their attack.
  • Brando broke free with Shukaku’s power, and he and Kuzan punched each other in the face, sending Kuzan into an ice wall while sand caught Brando.

Ch. 44Kuzan: Do I Really Look Like a Dog?

Brando escaped after fighting Kuzan, leaving Kuzan to report the failed mission to the Five Elders and question his service to the Celestial Dragons. Brando ended up safe with Banlei and argued with Shukaku about his retreat.

  • Kuzan and Brando traded blows, and Kuzan said he would stop Brando to prevent more people from dying.
  • Brando taunted Kuzan and announced that his nickname was now the Celestial Dragon Hunter, then vanished with his clones in a cloud of smoke.
  • Kuzan searched for Brando with Observation Haki, realized he had been tricked, and reported the escape and Brando's abilities to the Five Elders.
  • The Five Elders warned Kuzan there would not be a next time, and Kuzan wondered whether the Marines were the Celestial Dragons' dogs.
  • Brando escaped with Banlei's Reverse Summoning and insisted to Shukaku that he had made a tactical retreat.

Ch. 45Sage Mode—Haki Is Still Haki, Gotta Learn It!

After recovering from his battle with Kuzan, Brando received Ryuchi Cave Sage Mode and traveled toward the New World to learn Armament Haki. Along the way, he tested his new abilities and resolved to pursue Haki before seeking out other targets.

  • Brando received recognition rewards for confronting Baroque Works and making Kuzan face reality, gaining the Thunder Sword: Fang and Ryuchi Cave Sage Mode.
  • After waiting two days for his injuries to heal, Brando returned to the battlefield, erased the remaining Black Flames, and noticed his eyesight had deteriorated from using the Mangekyo.
  • Brando decided to skip the rest of Paradise and travel to the New World to capture people and use the Sharingan to learn Armament Haki and Observation Haki.
  • Brando examined Ryuchi Cave Sage Mode's tougher scales, improved perception, and regeneration, then tested its abilities with five Shadow Clones during the journey.
  • Banlei carried Brando beneath the sea toward the New World for five days, and Brando chose to prioritize learning Armament Haki over stopping for seafood.

Ch. 46Putting the Ship Alongside!

Brando reached the New World and attacked a Navy warship to learn Armament Haki, Observation Haki, and the Six Powers. After defeating Vice Admiral Doro, he mocked the Celestial Dragons and the Navy before leaving with the techniques he had sought.

  • Brando trained in Sage Mode while racing Banlei, then sent Shadow Clones to search for someone who could teach him Armament Haki.
  • A Shadow Clone found Vice Admiral Doro’s warship, and Brando directed Banlei to approach it despite Haki Crane urging him to build a ninja village instead.
  • Doro refused to request reinforcements and charged Brando, who knocked him unconscious with a Big Ball Rasengan.
  • Brando’s Shadow Clone subdued the marines while Brando read Doro’s memories and copied the training methods for Armament Haki, Observation Haki, and the Six Powers.
  • Brando had a photograph taken mocking Doro as the Celestial Dragons’ loyal hound, sent it to a newspaper office, and left after eating aboard the warship.

Ch. 47Two-Color Haki Basics, Target: Celestial Dragons

Brando trained in Armament and Observation Haki before deciding to target a Celestial Dragon and broadcast the capture live. Meanwhile, Sengoku and Garp judged him too difficult to pursue and agreed to treat him like an ordinary pirate, leaving Brando free to seek his next target.

  • Brando mastered Armament Haki coating and trained in emission, then practiced Observation Haki with Shadow Clones while Haki Crane unsuccessfully attacked him with sand.
  • Four days after Brando defeated Vice Admiral Doro, the World Economy News Paper reported his attack, prompting Sengoku and Garp to discuss his growing strength and the risk of confronting him.
  • Garp advised Sengoku to treat Brando like an ordinary pirate and predicted he would choose a larger target than the Marines, and Sengoku agreed.
  • After fifteen days of training, Brando emerged with improved Armament Haki and second-stage, large-scale Observation Haki.

Ch. 48"Master" Rayleigh

Brando went to Sabaody disguised as Shanks to capture a Celestial Dragon, where he provoked Rayleigh after recognizing him. Rayleigh unleashed his Conqueror’s Haki, and Brando welcomed the challenge.

  • Brando chose Sabaody as his destination after learning a Celestial Dragon would appear there in ten days, and he took an Eternal Pose from Doflamingo’s black market.
  • Doflamingo learned Brando had visited his black market and considered him a possible partner if he survived the World Government’s pursuit.
  • Brando reached Sabaody disguised as a scarless Shanks in a Marine uniform, ordered a flame-patterned cape, and enjoyed the island’s food.
  • Rayleigh spotted Brando and realized he was not Shanks, while Brando recognized Rayleigh and loudly insulted him in public.
  • Rayleigh turned back after Brando mocked Roger and unleashed his Conqueror’s Haki, knocking nearby people unconscious as Brando eagerly faced him.

Ch. 49Old Monsters Have High Stats

Brando provoked Rayleigh into a duel and used Ninja Blade: Lightning against the former Roger Pirate. After Rayleigh dodged Brando’s electrical burst with a glimpse of the future, Brando wondered whether his Sharingan could disrupt Rayleigh’s Observation Haki.

  • Rayleigh defended Roger’s reputation and pressed Brando with Conqueror’s Haki, but Brando resisted and continued insulting Roger and the Roger Pirates.
  • Rayleigh picked up a longsword and accepted Brando’s challenge, while Brando drew Ninja Blade: Lightning and activated his electrical abilities.
  • Rayleigh coated his sword with Conqueror’s Haki, and the two fighters clashed, with their swords’ shockwaves shattering the ground.
  • Rayleigh recognized Brando’s changing appearance as a Zoan-like transformation and leaped away from Brando’s electrical burst.
  • Brando realized Rayleigh had dodged by glimpsing the future and considered using Sharingan mind control to interfere with his Observation Haki.

Ch. 50The Despicable Uchiha Celestial Dragon

Brando fought Rayleigh on Sabaody, using lightning, genjutsu, and terrain control to wear him down. When Kuzan arrived, Brando fled to avoid revealing his other abilities, leaving Rayleigh to attack Kuzan.

  • Brando used Inorganic Reincarnation and lightning attacks against Rayleigh, while Rayleigh cut through his attacks and pressed him in close combat.
  • Brando caught Rayleigh with a Sharingan mental assault, then repeatedly shocked him while exploiting his temporary paralysis.
  • Brando spread water across the ground and electrified it, but Rayleigh shattered the ground and blocked the stray currents with Armament Haki.
  • Brando sensed Kuzan approaching and fled rather than expose more of his abilities to the World Government.
  • Rayleigh unleashed a blood-red sword aura at Kuzan, and Brando heard the resulting explosion as he left.
