"Get lost."
Liu Ying said only one word, and the five men fled in a scrambling panic.
Huang Yun merely watched from afar the entire time and did not make a move.
Those two small incidents let him figure out his two companions' fighting styles.
Tie Shan was the reckless type, relying on brute force and defense to crush opponents with broad, powerful attacks.
Liu Ying, like him, was an agility-attack type. His strikes were swift, precise, and ruthless, though he was clearly far slower than Huang Yun.
Huang Yun said nothing more and continued scouting ahead at his own pace.
Once night had fully fallen, the caravan stopped at the base of a relatively flat, sheltered slope.
Chen Boss called for everyone to get down and rest. The workers quickly lit fires and began cooking. Tie Shan and Liu Ying sat around a fire, and Huang Yun walked over and sat beside them.
Firelight fell across their faces as the wind howled around them.
Tie Shan tore off a piece of dried meat and stuffed it into his mouth. As he chewed, he suddenly asked Huang Yun, "Little brother, you're pretty fast. When you were walking ahead during the day, I probed you with Soul Power a few times. Your aura stayed steady the whole time. You're not like Liu Ying, who has to rest after running for a while. What level are you, exactly?"
Liu Ying looked over as well, clearly curious about the answer.
Huang Yun poked at the fire with a branch and casually said, "Level fifty-two, same as you."
The dried meat in Tie Shan's mouth nearly sprayed out. He stared at Huang Yun wide-eyed for several seconds before swallowing and slapping his thigh hard. "Holy shit! Level fifty-two! How old are you, kid?"
"Twenty." Huang Yun thought for a moment before giving his age in reverse.
The area around the fire fell silent for a moment. Even Liu Ying's expression changed.
Tie Shan opened his mouth, then after a long while managed to force out, "A twenty-year-old level fifty-two Soul King? Are your parents Titled Douluo?"
"No. I'm alone."
Tie Shan was stunned for quite a while longer before finally giving him a thumbs-up. "I'm almost fifty and only level fifty-two. You're level fifty-two at twenty. Comparing people really pisses you off."
If they knew that the person before them was only twelve, they would definitely be even more shocked.
Though Liu Ying said nothing, the way he looked at Huang Yun had clearly gained several degrees of seriousness.
Just as the mood was relaxed, Huang Yun suddenly stopped poking at the fire.
Within the Lightning Falcon Eyes' range of perception, he caught a trace of something unusual.
About two li directly ahead of the caravan, seven or eight fluctuations of Soul Power were approaching. They were neither fast nor slow, but their route was extremely clear—they were coming straight toward them.
Huang Yun set down the branch and stood, excitement flashing through his eyes.
"Someone's coming. Seven or eight of them, heading this way. Looks like bandits."
Tie Shan and Liu Ying rose at the same time.
Tie Shan grabbed the broadsword leaning beside him, while Liu Ying's hand had already settled on the hilt of his short blade.
Chen Boss heard the commotion as well and hurried over from beside the carriages, lowering his voice as he asked, "What's going on?"
"Not sure yet. I'll take a look."
As soon as Huang Yun spoke, his body blurred, and he vanished into the night.
The night was thick as ink. The evening wind of the Nether Wasteland swept across the sand, kicking up fine dust that rustled against the canvas covers.
Huang Yun's figure flashed through the darkness and returned, landing beside the fire just as Tie Shan and Liu Ying each gripped their weapons.
"What's going on?" Tie Shan asked in a low voice.
"Eleven." Huang Yun spoke quickly, but his tone remained calm. "Ten Soul Kings and one Soul Emperor. Fully equipped. They look like a gang that specializes in this. They're less than one li away and heading this way."
Chen Boss's face turned deathly pale.
Ten Soul Kings and a Soul Emperor—on the Nether Wasteland, that was already a considerable fighting force.
Their caravan had only three Soul Kings and four Soul Ancestors at most. The difference in strength was simply too great.
Moreover, the others were all injured. They could not possibly win.
"Quick! Retreat!" Chen Boss turned to call for the workers to harness the horses.
"Too late." Liu Ying said coldly.
The moment he finished speaking, chaotic footsteps and rough laughter sounded from the darkness. More than a dozen figures filed out from behind the dunes, spreading into a fan-shaped formation as they surrounded the caravan.
The leading man was bald, with a scar running across his face. He was tall and burly, carrying a bloodstained spiked mace in one hand.
Ten subordinates followed behind him, each with a powerful aura. Their Soul Power fluctuations stank in the night like the breath of wild beasts. Even the weakest was a level fifty-one Soul King.
"You're Old Chen, right?" the bald man said, his voice hoarse like sandpaper scraping iron. "I've had my eye on you for two days on this road. Leave the goods and your storage rings behind, and if I'm in a good mood, I might spare your lives. If you don't cooperate..."
He grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. "Not one of you will leave standing."
Tie Shan's temper flared. How could he tolerate that? He stepped forward, drove his broadsword into the ground, and made the earth tremble as he roared, "Bullshit! If you've got the guts, come fight me!"
The bald man sneered, not taking Tie Shan seriously at all. His gaze passed over him and landed on Huang Yun. He sized up the masked youth, dismissed him, and was about to wave his hand and order his men to attack.
"Too much nonsense. Let's do this."
Huang Yun moved.
His feet left the ground as his body rose into the air. He spread both hands, and a dense ring of blue-black Soul Power exploded from his body.
"Fourth Soul Skill."
"Thundercloud."
Crack!
A thick bolt of blue Lightning struck down from the heavens, exploding directly above everyone's heads.
Immediately afterward, a mass of dark Thunderclouds gathered out of nowhere around Huang Yun and rapidly spread outward. Within only a few breaths, they covered the sky for five hundred meters in every direction.
Electric serpents darted through the Thunderclouds, arcs of electricity slithering about. Blue-white light illuminated the entire night sky, while the crackling current sounded like countless birds crying at once.
Beneath the Thunderclouds, Huang Yun felt every pore on his body cheering.
All his attributes doubled. Soul Power flowed as smoothly as a surging river, while his stamina and Mental Power recovered at a visibly rapid rate. From within and without, his entire body had reached an unprecedented peak.
He hovered in midair, five Spirit Rings slowly rotating around him in sequence: yellow, purple, purple, black, black. The outermost two deep black Spirit Rings were especially glaring, with electric patterns still flowing across them.
Beneath the Thundercloud, all eleven bandits froze.
"Holy shit! What kind of heaven-defying Spirit Ring configuration is this?!"
Lightning illuminated their faces as their mockery turned to alarm, then from alarm to utter disbelief.
"Attack! Kill him!"
For the first time, the bald Soul Emperor's expression darkened. Staring at Huang Yun's two black Spirit Rings and second purple Spirit Ring, his pupils contracted.
But before he could say anything, Huang Yun had already moved.
His first soul skill, Lightning, erupted instantly. His speed soared as his body turned into a streak of blue-white electricity and shot into the bandits' ranks.
His first target was a level fifty-three Soul King on the left.
The man saw only a flash of light before it reached him. Then Raikiri pierced through his chest, sending him flying as though he had been struck by a massive hammer. He crashed into two companions behind him, rolled more than ten meters, and finally stopped. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he curled up on the ground without moving.
One strike, instant kill—a level fifty-three Soul King.
His strength was terrifying!
Huang Yun did not pause. The electric light flashed four more times through the crowd, and every flash took away a Soul King.
