"What about the FBI?"
Carol, who had remained silent the whole time, finally spoke up. She couldn't get a word in when superheroes were talking, and being allowed to listen in was only thanks to Hal. But the more the two talked, the more obscure the topic became. By now, she couldn't understand a thing.
"Nothing. You misheard me. I said the Federal Bureau of Investigation of America," Russell explained.
Was there a difference?
Carol understood even less now. She frowned and thought it over, but couldn't make sense of it. In the end, she decided that FBI was some kind of professional jargon between superheroes.
Hal's mouth twitched. Carol might not understand, but he knew perfectly well.
Russell's intermittent bouts of idiocy made him deeply uncomfortable. Where was the big shot he'd been promised? Why did this guy feel like such a Silly Bird?
"Hal, is your face cramping?"
"No..."
Hal was mentally exhausted. He wasn't suited to sharing the screen with Silly Bird energy and only wanted to change the subject as quickly as possible. "Mr. Russell, the yellow thing I mentioned was a mass of energy I sensed psychically. It has... absolutely nothing to do with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Please stop making jokes."
"Yellow energy! Describe it in detail. What kind of feeling did it give you?"
Russell narrowed his eyes slightly. If he wasn't mistaken, what Hal had sensed was probably Parallax. Even if it wasn't, it was highly likely to be something related to Parallax.
"My feeling... was probably fear. That energy seemed incredibly powerful, and the Green Lantern Ring was extremely resistant to it, as if it had seen an enemy."
Hal explained with a frown. It was a strange feeling, mixed with disgust and fear. He clearly wanted to stay far
