Alfred greatly admired Russell's abilities because he had defeated Master Bruce Wayne.
In Gotham City, plenty of people had gotten the better of Batman in their first encounter. Under normal circumstances, once Batman figured out their tricks, he could come up with a few plans, add some new gadgets, and easily reclaim the upper hand while teaching them a lesson.
But there were very few people who could leave Batman simmering with frustration, shut himself up at home to build armor, and pull several all-nighters in a row.
Without exception, such people were all top-tier experts. Infiltrating Arkham Asylum and bypassing layer upon layer of lockdown was as easy as eating and drinking to them.
When Alfred discovered that Russell's target was the Enhanced Treatment Building, he was even more satisfied. This way, he would not need to meet with the informant, and the latter could avoid exposure and continue lurking within the enemy's ranks.

Russell had great faith in the Suicide Squad's abilities because he had read the script. An antihero team capable of getting its own standalone movie could not possibly be weak.
At the very least, infiltrating an asylum should not have been much of a problem.
Even if they were exposed, it did not matter. They could conveniently draw some fire for him and squeeze out the rest of their value.
