This research facility belonged to the Elliot family, one of Gotham's four great families. Just as the Wayne family had produced Batman, the Elliot family had its own uniquely distinctive villain.

As everyone knew, Gotham City was Batman's fan club. Many famous villains were major figures within the club, often coming to blows over the title of Batman's number-one fan.

Hush was one such diehard fan. His obsession with Batman was even stronger than the Joker's.

But Hush and the Joker were very different. The Joker was obsessed with Batman and had little interest in Bruce Wayne himself, at most occasionally attacking, kidnapping, or killing those around him.

With Hush, it was the complete opposite.

The two great families had been friends for generations. Hush and Bruce had grown up together, and he had first become obsessed with Bruce Wayne. After discovering Bruce's hidden identity, he began paying attention to Batman as well.

Just how obsessed was Hush with Bruce? Two examples were enough to prove it.

First, he constantly watched Bruce and endlessly copied his every move. In order to become like Bruce—an orphan who inherited billions—he used a car accident to murder his own parents.

That way, their backstories became the same. He had narrowed the distance between himself and Bruce and gained a shared topic of conversation.

Second, through constantly imitating Bruce, his obsession became impossible to escape. Using his skills in plastic surgery, he had turned his own face into Bruce's.

The distance between them had become even smaller. All he had to do was look in a mirror to see the man he loved!
