Russell nodded to himself. First Arthur, then Karasen—physical education really was refreshing and sobering, a cure for all manner of muddled thinking and poor verbal skills.
Sure enough, after getting beaten up, Karasen was cured on the spot. It could now think rationally and had even started using respectful forms of address. But its next sentence left Russell at a loss for words.
"Lord Poseidon, you already possess the Sea King's Trident. Why do you still want the trident of the Atlanteans?"
"What?"
Russell looked utterly confused. What did Poseidon have to do with him? Was it because of the trident?
He had wanted to admit it outright and go with the flow, putting on a low-key yet elegant act. But memories concerning Poseidon flashed through his mind, and he immediately denied it.
Poseidon's famous quotes: I've slept with the person you're talking about; I've slept with that person too; forgive my bluntness, but everyone here is trash. Everything you've ever seen combined is still less than the things I've slept with.
Note that it was things, not people!
Using the name of such a creature that had no boundaries when it came to meat or vegetables would only invite trouble.

Beside them, Arthur's legs went weak when he heard Karasen's conversation with Russell, and he nearly fell flat on level ground.
Atlanna and Mera were startled. Supporting him from either side, they asked, "What happened? What's wrong?"
"He... he... Russell..."
Arthur raised a hand to point at Russell, then realized how disrespectful it was and hurriedly lowered it. He stammered, "Russell is... Sea King Poseidon. Karasen said so itself."
Remembering all of Russell's previous displays—his ability to command the sea and his knowledge of everything ocean-related—Arthur suddenly understood. With that, everything made sense.
