It had nothing to do with the old general. Russell and Odin had tested the waters, and, as expected, it really was in the bag.
Considering the level of the battle was far too high and unfriendly to onlookers, Odin sent Russell a telepathic message, asking him to help move Asgard's warships farther away.
Russell had been thinking the same thing. The Space Stone flashed, and he teleported the warships to a safe area.
Aboard the warships, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Watching a battle between gods up close really was an experience few would ever have in their lives.
But they were too weak; they did not even qualify to spectate. With the battle clearly escalating, if they did not leave now, it truly would become a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The distance was perfect now. The figures were proportioned just right, making the scene both comfortable and reassuring to watch.
In the void, the three giants faced off briefly before Russell and Odin moved at the same time. Spear and greatsword struck from two directions, instantly escalating the battle and giving Ego no chance to catch his breath.
Two fists could not beat four hands. Ego understood that perfectly. Rather than stubbornly charging in to take a beating, he retreated, growing two arms from his back as another warhammer longer than his body materialized.
His body was material formed from condensed energy. Other than that brain, everything was shaped by thought; there was no such thing as a fixed form.
