Russell looked around Neo's bachelor pad, rummaged through the bookshelf, and found three thousand dollars inside a programming book hollowed out in the middle.
Books truly held houses of gold. The ancients had not lied!
Right in front of Neo, Russell tucked the three thousand dollars into his pocket.
He had no choice. Without his portable storage space, he could not use telepathy to swipe a card every time. That went against his principles as a person.
Things were different with Neo. Not only was this dirty money, but Neo would have no use for it in the future anyway.
Bound to the chair, Neo glared at Russell with fire in his eyes. Struggling violently, he toppled over with the chair and crashed to the floor.
"Don't waste your energy. No matter how loud you are, nobody outside can hear you."
Russell curled his lips, helped Neo and the chair back up, then smiled as he pulled the rag from Neo's mouth. "If you don't believe me, give it a try. I guarantee you can scream your throat raw and no one will come save you."
The filthy rag made Neo's stomach churn. He dry-heaved a few times, his face pale, and immediately grew uncertain when he heard Russell's words.
"Heh heh..."
Russell chuckled twice and pushed open the door so Neo could see directly into the hallway. "Go ahead, shout as much as you want. If you think your voice isn't loud enough, I can help you."
Neo's expression shifted constantly. He secretly glanced at Russell, swallowed, and shouted toward the door, "Help! Can anyone hear me? Call 911, quick! I've been kidnapped!!"
