Having learned this crucial information, Tony was so shocked that he completely forgot about the battle and repeatedly reviewed Stephen Strange's personal file.
In a three-versus-three fight, with one teammate going offline, the team should have been doomed, with no chance of survival.
But the truth was, with the buffs in place, it made no difference whether Tony was there or not.

As Tony reviewed the information, he had Jarvis pull Strange's files from S.H.I.E.L.D. After verifying them several times and confirming there was no mistake, he found that Strange's hands had indeed been ruined by the metal one-armed man.
Don't ask where Tony got the authority to access S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files. As a senior consultant, leaving himself a backdoor in the S.H.I.E.L.D. system was perfectly reasonable and entirely in character.
Unfortunately, there was too little information. Tony had no idea whether the criminal who attacked Strange was the same person who had killed his parents.
If it was, then the reason Strange had been attacked was well worth investigating!
According to the file, Strange had been attacked because of his poor conduct, and someone had hired thugs to break both his hands.
That needed to be verified, because ever since USR Corporation developed mechanical prosthetics technology, many veterans had ended up with a metal arm.
