Ch. 485Spring Has Arrived, and It Is Once Again the Season When All Things Come Back to Life

Russell told Amelia, Michael, and Selene how Lucian’s romance with Sophia led to her execution and the Werewolves’ revolt against Viktor. He revealed that Selene resembled Sophia, which was why Viktor spared her family’s killer’s intended victim and adopted her as a replacement daughter, and said Klein knew the truth.

  • Russell explained that Viktor used Lucian, the first intelligent Werewolf, to transform the Werewolf slaves, until Lucian came of age and fell in love with Sophia.
  • Russell said Lucian and Sophia secretly had a child, and Viktor burned Sophia alive to eliminate the child and protect his power.
  • Selene challenged Russell’s account, and he explained Viktor feared the hybrid child and did not want political enemies to exploit his attachment to Sophia.
  • Russell recounted how Lucian summoned the Werewolves, overthrew Viktor’s territory, and began the long conflict between Werewolves and vampires.
  • Russell told Selene that Viktor had spared and adopted her because she resembled Sophia, and that Klein knew the truth.

Ch. 486Is It Still Time to Apologize?

Russell met Lucian at the train station to negotiate an alliance, but Lucian arrived with more than a hundred Werewolves and tried to seize Amelia and Michael. Russell revealed his control over lightning and the weather, leaving Lucian eager to agree to anything.

  • Lucian arrived at the train station with over a hundred Werewolf underlings while Russell brought Amelia, Michael, and Selene.
  • Lucian mistook Russell for Amelia's lover and claimed Russell had brought him what he wanted; Russell insisted they had come to negotiate.
  • When Lucian raised his arm to attack, Russell summoned a giant lightning wolf and unleashed a storm that intimidated Lucian and his Werewolves.
  • Russell stopped the rain and directed moonlight onto the station, prompting Lucian's underlings to revert to human form.
  • Lucian denied intending to attack and agreed to form an alliance with Russell without asking who their enemy was.

Ch. 487Young Man, Do You Crave Power?

Russell enhanced Lucian and Amelia into powerful vampire-werewolf hybrids, changing their fates and earning Achievement Points. He then convinced Michael that he needed power if he hoped to pursue Selene, and Michael agreed to be enhanced.

  • Russell drew blood from Lucian and Amelia, tested the hybrid formula, and enhanced them with Michael's Perfect Blood.
  • Lucian asked why Russell was helping him grow stronger, and Russell explained that Moses and Jesus had not done everything themselves.
  • Amelia and Lucian tested their new strength by fighting in the sunlight, while Selene watched enviously; Russell gained two Achievement Points for changing Lucian and Amelia's fates.
  • Russell urged Michael to pursue power, arguing that strength was necessary for peace and for winning Selene, a vampire, as a partner.
  • Michael declared that he craved power after Russell pointed out that his ordinary human lifespan and strength would make a relationship with Selene difficult.

Ch. 488Reckless Is Only a Façade

Russell empowered Selene and prepared his allies to attack Blood Castle at dawn, while Klein awakened Viktor and warned him of Amelia’s supposed betrayal. As Werewolves surrounded the stronghold, Viktor accused Klein of betraying him.

  • Selene asked Russell for power to pursue revenge and sunlight, and he transformed her into a blue-skinned moonlight goddess.
  • Russell ordered Lucian to gather the Werewolves for an assault on Blood Castle at two in the morning and learned Amelia’s forces from America would arrive that night.
  • At Blood Castle, Klein grew anxious over Amelia’s disappearance, the gathering forces in America, and Lucian’s silence, then awakened Viktor for protection.
  • Klein told Viktor that Amelia had betrayed them, and Viktor decided to punish Klein while considering changes to the vampire leadership system.
  • Werewolves howled around Blood Castle, and Viktor stood up and accused Klein of betraying him.

Ch. 489Breaching Blood Castle

Viktor discovered Klein’s betrayal, killed him, and realized Klein had hollowed out London’s vampire ranks. Meanwhile, Lucian’s Werewolves and Amelia’s vampires stormed Blood Castle and escorted Russell inside to face Viktor.

  • Viktor used Blood Memory to uncover Klein’s collusion with Lucian and his plots against the elders, then tore off Klein’s head and crushed it.
  • Viktor killed the guards who entered, realized Klein’s influence had weakened the castle’s defenders, and ordered his remaining warriors to prepare for battle.
  • Lucian led the Werewolf-vampire alliance in a night assault on Blood Castle, using Klein’s map to bypass its defenses.
  • Russell advised Amelia to abandon London as a headquarters and move to America, and she chose to trust him.
  • Lucian’s forces overwhelmed the castle’s defenders and escorted Russell through the gates to confront Viktor and ten vampire warriors.

Ch. 490Please Take In This Lost Soul

Russell faced Viktor as Lucian and the Werewolves pledged themselves to him, while Viktor tried to recruit Amelia and Selene. Lucian and Selene defeated Viktor, and Marcus burst into the hall before attempting to retreat.

  • Viktor tried to provoke the Werewolves by accusing Lucian of serving the Church, but Lucian and more than a hundred Werewolves knelt and asked Russell to take them in.
  • Viktor tried to win Amelia over and asked Selene whether she had betrayed him, but Selene demanded to know if he had slaughtered her people.
  • Viktor drew his sword and proclaimed his strength, then knelt and begged Russell to take him in when he saw he was outnumbered.
  • Russell told Lucian to send Viktor to meet the Lord, and Lucian, Selene, and Michael attacked him.
  • Lucian severed Viktor's hands and pierced his heart, killing him before he could be made to suffer in sunlight.
  • Marcus smashed through the wall, saw Viktor and the hybrids, then turned to leave as someone ordered the doors closed and the dogs released.

Ch. 491Found the Wrong Person

Russell and his allies killed Marcus during a battle at Blood Castle, but the World Quest did not complete because Marcus was not the first vampire or the source of the vampire bloodline. The chapter left Russell realizing he had followed the wrong lead and destroyed his clue.

  • Russell's forces and Lucian, Selene, and Michael cornered Marcus and wounded him until Amelia pinned him to the wall with a Knight Sword.
  • Russell moved to behead Marcus as Alexander Corvinus's mercenaries attacked Blood Castle by air and ground to rescue him.
  • Russell beheaded Marcus, then struck the corpse with three more sword energies when the system did not announce quest completion.
  • Two Silver-white Giant Wolves destroyed the helicopters, and the vampire-werewolf alliance overwhelmed the mercenaries.
  • The system explained that Marcus was not the first vampire or the source of the vampire bloodline, so Russell had found the wrong person and destroyed the clue.

Ch. 492Sorry, I Went to the Wrong Room

Russell searched for the bat that had turned Marcus into the first vampire, but Amelia confirmed it had been ordinary and long dead. After Lucian located Alexander Corvinus, Russell prepared to meet the first Immortal that night, leading a large convoy toward the harbor.

  • Russell questioned Amelia about Marcus’s memories and the bat that had turned him into a vampire.
  • Amelia said the bat had been ordinary and had turned to ash long ago, leaving Russell without a lead.
  • Lucian interrupted Russell and Amelia to report that he had found Alexander Corvinus.
  • Russell ordered Lucian to ready men and weapons for a meeting with the first Immortal.
  • Russell set out with a grand convoy toward the harbor to confront Alexander.

Ch. 493Parting the Sea

Russell forced Alexander Corvinus to meet him by using his water-control powers to bring the warship ashore and part the sea. He then asked Alexander whether there was a hidden truth behind Marcus becoming a vampire.

  • Alexander refused to meet Russell because Russell had killed Marcus, so Russell decided to visit him aboard the warship.
  • Russell used Nenya, Ring of Water, and the trident to drag the warship into the harbor and split the sea, stunning the mercenaries and his followers.
  • Russell boarded the warship with Lucian, Amelia, and his forces, and the mercenaries surrendered their weapons without resistance.
  • Russell met Alexander Corvinus in the captain's cabin and triggered a Lottery Draw by making contact with him.
  • Russell asked Alexander whether there was a hidden truth behind how Marcus became a vampire.

Ch. 494His Brow Furrowed, and He Realized Things Were Not So Simple

Alexander told Russell how a mysterious man claiming to be the White Horse Knight cursed him and his descendants after Alexander rejected his offer, and how the man died when Alexander struck him once. Alexander then recounted an attack on his youngest son at a valley later submerged beneath the sea, and Russell insisted they go there to investigate while William remained imprisoned there.

  • Alexander explained that a black-robed man who called himself the White Horse Knight of the Lord blamed him for surviving the plague and offered to spare him if he surrendered his soul.
  • Alexander refused the man’s offer and killed him with one light punch after the man cursed his descendants to live in darkness.
  • Alexander told Russell that Marcus became a vampire after a bat bite and William became a Werewolf after a wolf bite, while Alexander’s youngest son escaped a venomous snake attack.
  • Alexander said he pursued the snake-charmer to a valley, burned it, and found no body before the valley was filled in and later submerged beneath the sea.
  • Russell ordered Alexander to take him to the valley, and Alexander resisted until Russell pointed out that William was imprisoned there.

Ch. 495Creatures Related to Dogs Are All Great at Wrecking Houses

Russell led Alexander and a group of hybrids into the prison to investigate a dark vortex beneath William’s coffin. After they uncovered it, Russell’s Cross pendant began moving toward the vortex, and he prepared to send someone in to scout.

  • Russell parted the sea to reveal the prison entrance, and Alexander led the group through its winding passages to William’s coffin.
  • Russell detected a dark vortex beneath the coffin and told the others to move it; Alexander opened the coffin first and fought his frenzied son until William was subdued.
  • Russell ordered Lucian’s explosives experts to blast through the floor, revealing a smooth patch of ground that concealed a black vortex.
  • Russell’s Cross pendant floated toward the vortex, and Lucian tossed in a grenade, but nothing happened.
  • When no one volunteered to scout the vortex, Russell looked to Amelia, then suggested that Alexander use William for the task.

Ch. 496Experienced Transmigrators Had Plenty of Experience

Russell and his companions discovered a strange mirror corridor that looped like a Mobius strip and found a passage to a dangerous world. After crossing into a misty forest with no visible way back, they followed a human scent toward a nearby settlement, while Russell claimed the Lord had directed them south.

  • Amelia kicked a Werewolf soldier through the strange passage, and he returned to report that it held mirrors but no danger.
  • Russell entered the corridor and discovered that it looped; after hearing Alexander and William below him, he recognized it as a Mobius Strip.
  • Russell found a traversable mirror and warned the group that the world beyond it might be dangerous, then crossed over with eight companions.
  • Russell's group arrived in a misty black forest and found no passage back, so Russell reassured them that another route must exist.
  • Lucian smelled a human presence to the south, and Russell pretended that a branch had pointed him in that direction.

Ch. 497Headless Knight

Russell and his group arrived in Sleepy Hollow, where they sought information about vampires and Alexander and his son. As they prepared to leave for a larger city, the Headless Knight charged through town and turned his sword toward them.

  • Russell recognized the name Sleepy Hollow and told the group to look for information about vampires and Alexander and his son.
  • At an inn, Russell questioned the owner, learned about the town's dark-fantasy history, and left without giving him Amelia's necklace or paying for the untouched food.
  • Russell decided to buy horses and a map and travel to a larger city to seek information from the Church.
  • The Headless Knight rode through town, and Russell told Lucian and the others not to interfere because the knight only killed designated targets.
  • The Headless Knight turned his horse around and aimed his longsword at the group, so Russell ordered them to kill him.

Ch. 498Capturing the Headless Knight

Russell and the Werewolf warriors captured the Headless Knight in Sleepy Hollow, then Russell discovered that a Wizard's curse was sustaining him. The townspeople celebrated, and Russell learned that the unconscious mayor was also the sheriff and one of the town's two great disasters.

  • Five Werewolf warriors shot the Headless Knight and his black warhorse with UV Bullets, but the Knight recovered by drawing on dark energy.
  • Lucian overpowered the Headless Knight and pinned him to the ground with his own sword as the townspeople gathered and celebrated.
  • Russell examined the Knight's regeneration and concluded that curse-type wizardry—and therefore a Wizard—was at work in town.
  • Lucian knocked an obnoxious man unconscious, and Russell learned the man was Sleepy Hollow's mayor, sheriff, and one of its two great disasters.

Ch. 499There Are Eight Million Warriors in Her Room

Russell left Sleepy Hollow after helping the mayor suppress the Headless Knight and traveled with his companions to Paris to hunt dark creatures. There, the group spotted a nonhuman follower and Russell found a wanted poster for Van Helsing.

  • Russell told the mayor that a church, chains, and daily Bible readings would suppress the Headless Knight for several hundred years, then suggested guards watch for the Wizard who controlled him.
  • Russell accepted payment from the mayor and asked for horses, a map, and information about vampires.
  • The next day, Russell and his companions rode out of Sleepy Hollow toward a nearby city, but arrived in Paris less than two days later.
  • Russell explained to Lucian that the world mixed stories and settings without regard for logic, while Michael asked whether they might encounter Jack the Ripper.
  • Russell's group used themselves as bait to draw out Paris's dark creatures and noticed a nonhuman figure following them into a dark alley.
  • Russell found and read a wanted poster offering 2,000 francs for Van Helsing.

Ch. 500Things Everyone Loved to See

Russell and his companions encountered a shapeshifting monster in Paris, and Michael transformed and killed it with help from the Werewolf soldiers. A masked man arrived asking about suspicious activity, and Russell recognized him as the fugitive Van Helsing.

  • Russell read Van Helsing’s Wanted poster and considered his mysterious history and connection to Count Dracula.
  • A yellow-haired stalker attacked Michael, transformed into a giant monster, and fought him in the street.
  • Michael overpowered the monster and began feeding on him, while the Werewolf soldiers drank the creature’s blood and destroyed his body with a UV Bullet.
  • A masked man arrived and questioned the group about suspicious activity near the monster’s remains.
  • Russell compared the man with the Wanted poster and asked if he was Fugitive 2000 Francs.

Ch. 501Van Helsing, You're Busted—Come with Us

Russell and his allies confronted Van Helsing and accused him of crimes before attacking and capturing him. Van Helsing remained defiant but was left kneeling in agony after Amelia and the other woman struck him.

  • Russell invoked Van Helsing's wanted posters and ordered his allies to capture him alive for the reward.
  • Lucian, Michael, and the five Werewolf soldiers transformed and overwhelmed Van Helsing in a fight.

  • Two women kicked Van Helsing in the face and groin, leaving him kneeling in pain.

Ch. 502Wild Exorcists from the Countryside

Russell and the Werewolves captured Van Helsing and collected the reward, but the Church soon sent him on a mission to confront Dracula in Romania. After escaping prison and meeting his assistant Carl, Van Helsing was ambushed by Russell and his group again.

  • Russell had the Werewolves deliver Van Helsing to the police, and they collected the 2,000-franc reward.
  • Van Helsing stayed in prison, hoping his wanted notice would be withdrawn, until a cardinal visited him three days later.
  • The cardinal ordered Van Helsing to travel to Romania and defeat Dracula, giving him an old scroll and assigning Carl to assist him.
  • Van Helsing broke out of prison, met Carl and her exorcism gear, and rode with her toward Romania.
  • Russell and his group ambushed Van Helsing and Carl, and Russell ordered the Werewolves to capture Van Helsing for the reward.

Ch. 503Don't Talk to Me About Money—It's Too Crass

Van Helsing convinced Russell and his group to accompany him to Transylvania by offering them a chance to earn money while helping rescue the Veleris Family. When they arrived in the town, the locals attacked them, and Russell killed their leader while demanding to see Prince Wicken and Princess Anna.

  • Russell captured Van Helsing and Carl, confiscated their belongings, and planned to hold Van Helsing until his bounty increased.
  • Van Helsing persuaded Russell to join his mission in Romania by promising a wealthy Gypsy prince and princess could pay them.
  • Van Helsing and Russell's group rode to Transylvania, where hostile townsfolk surrounded them and demanded they surrender their weapons.
  • The townsfolk accused the group of impersonating Princess Anna and tried to capture them as vampire lackeys.
  • Russell shot the sinister leader dead and demanded that the townsfolk bring Prince Wicken and Princess Anna to speak with them.

Ch. 504Besides Money, I Have Nothing

Russell and his group rescued Prince Wicken and Princess Anna from a Werewolf after their poorly prepared trap failed. Russell ordered his Werewolf warriors to capture the monster alive, then asked Wicken whether he was rich; Wicken hurriedly claimed that besides money, he had nothing.

  • Wicken and Anna's trap failed, and the Werewolf escaped its cage and chased Anna toward a cliff.
  • Russell shot the Werewolf and rescued Wicken and Anna, who were startled by the resemblance between Anna and Selene.
  • Van Helsing suggested attacking together, but Russell ordered five of his Werewolf warriors to capture the injured monster alive.
  • Russell asked Wicken if he was rich, and Wicken changed his answer and claimed that besides money, he had nothing.
