"The first problem: borrowing without understanding."
"By the third breath after the battle began, your life force had undergone a bizarre surge. That would not normally be an issue; enhancement skills were everywhere."
"But your enhancement skill was strange. That increased life force was actually inconsistent with your own?"
"You forcibly restrained that portion of life force through your Dragon Clan Bloodline. If anyone else had done this, their body would have long since become distorted by that mutated life force."
"This revealed a problem: you knew how it worked, but not why it worked. You could use this life force, but you did not understand the specific mechanism by which it was produced. If you never came to understand those principles, that life force would never truly belong to you."
"I think you should know just how important life force is."
Di Tian looked at Lin En ahead of him. Once the battle began, that unusual life force had been far too conspicuous. It should have belonged to Blue Silver Grass and some kind of bamboo Soul Beast.
Life force was simply too important to any living creature. Once the source of one's life became contaminated, the mild outcome was mutation; the severe outcome was the soul scattering and spirit dispersing.
This otherworldly Dragon Clan member before him was quite good, and his dragon might was also exceptionally orthodox. With True Dragons now extinct, seeing an otherworldly Dragon Clan member made Di Tian nostalgic.
"The second problem: too many skills, none mastered."
"You have many methods—mental domains, strange languages, the ultimate techniques of human Ultimate Douluos, ever-changing bloodlines. Pick any one of them at random, and it would be a top-tier power."
"Normally, these powers should complement each other, making one plus one greater than two. Yet they have not been displayed perfectly in you."
"The reason is that you have not fused these powers together at all. You have not found a path that belongs to you, leaving all these methods to fight separately, like a Chimera stitched into a grotesque mess."
After saying that, the darkness element in Di Tian's hand turned into a long spear. With a casual sweep, he demonstrated the spear techniques of blocking, seizing, thrusting, chopping, crashing, pointing, and entangling in succession.
Before the onlookers could react, the long spear suddenly became a greatsword. As the greatsword danced, the spear techniques smoothly transformed into sword techniques, while the sword techniques retained traces of the spear's lingering rhythm.
When it came to swordsmanship, Di Tian, who had trained for hundreds of thousands of years, could claim second place. No one alive dared claim first.
Darkness and spatial power moved with his will, without the slightest obstruction. Darkness embraced space, while space aided the flow of darkness.
Di Tian did not possess Seven-Element Control, yet with darkness and space alone, he mobilized every element between heaven and earth, freely changing them upon his blade's edge.
Wan Demon King watched this display of elemental control, and inwardly shuddered. The boss was still the boss. He could not achieve this degree of precision in power.
All this time, Wan Demon King had focused on sheer quantity, overlooking control over the power itself.
It was like the Ice Empress in the far north. Freezing a thousand miles was something she could easily accomplish. But if someone asked her to create a piano from ice and then play music with it, she could not do it.
"Did you see that? All powers can be fused together, but the prerequisite is that you must have your own path."
Di Tian stopped moving and continued.
"The third problem: your bloodline."
"Ultimately, this can also be considered part of the second problem. The source of this power should be your Martial Soul, correct?"
"An ever-changing bloodline truly is formidable. It reminds me of the past. I do not know what things were like on your side, but in this world's ancient era, this continent belonged to dragons."
"At that time, only the Phoenix Clan could contend with our Dragon Clan. The Phoenix God King, leader of the Phoenix Clan, possessed an ability called Genesis."
"Genesis Power is not the power of creation. The essence of Genesis is imitation; this ability can imitate any kind of power in the world."
"The Phoenix God King once stood on equal footing with the Dragon God Lord through this ability, but in the end, he was still torn apart by the Dragon God Lord."
As he said this, pride clearly appeared on Di Tian's face. Though he had not witnessed the Dragon-Phoenix War, because he had not yet been born at the time.
But that did not stop Di Tian from taking pride in the Dragon God's greatness.
"The Dragon God Lord once explained the reason for the Phoenix God King's defeat at the Myriad Races Conference, using it to teach juniors like us. The Phoenix God King had taken the wrong path."
"The ultimate purpose of Genesis is not simple imitation, but combining the strengths of different powers to create entirely new truths."
"Your power is the same. After absorbing so many bloodlines, has your essence changed at all?"
Di Tian spoke sternly.
"The answer is no. Other than turning yourself into a Chimera."
"Your path should not be like this. The evolution of life advances upward, not outward to both sides."
"Mixed bloodlines cannot bring you a more perfect future. You should find a way to unify these powers, with your own bloodline as the foundation. Do not let the guest overshadow the host."
"Your dragon scales come from the Devouring Dragon and the Imperial Auspicious Beast. Where are your own dragon scales? Your claws come from the Dark Golden Terrorclaw Bear. Why not fuse them with your own dragon claws? The same goes for your wings—where are your dragon wings?"
"You focus on these foreign bloodlines while neglecting your own ultimate power. The key to the ultimate gate is already in your hands. Do not throw it away."
Di Tian earnestly warned Lin En. He did not want to see this otherworldly Dragon Clan member take the wrong path and turn himself into some unrecognizable monstrosity.
The last time he had taught a Dragon Clan junior like this was when he had instructed Zi JI.
In the past, Di Tian would not have bothered with an outsider like Lin En.
But times had changed. Only a few members of the Dragon Clan remained. An outsider dragon was still a dragon in the end, and that dragon might carried the right flavor. It was clearly evolved naturally, not a false dragon that had stolen bloodlines. Far more trustworthy than humans.
Of course, Di Tian did not know the details of the Dragon Clan's world, so "evolved" was not quite the right word.
Qiu'er secretly let out a sigh of relief. With Di Tian acting like he was teaching a junior, he probably would not hurt her companion.
"Little one, come. Return to the Core Zone with me."
"I will not say anything about you escaping confinement last time. Scarlet King took the punishment for you, and he still cannot get out of his cave."
Di Tian looked at Qiu'er, a trace of gentleness in his golden eyes.
Qiu'er hesitated, her gaze sweeping over Lin En.
"B-but I haven't taken him to find a life-attribute Soul Beast yet."
Wan Demon King raised a brow. Even if she was an Auspicious Beast, saying she wanted to help an outsider hunt for a Soul Ring in front of Di Tian was not exactly appropriate, was it?
It would be best to quickly drive this invasive outsider species out of the Star Dou Great Forest. Once this Chimera boy left, the Auspicious Beast could live peacefully, and he could rest easy too.
"A life-attribute Soul Beast?"
"Wan Demon King, you should have one on your side. Give them a location."
Di Tian rubbed Qiu'er's head, his golden eyes fixed on Wan Demon King.
Wan Demon King wore the expression of a man covered in question marks. He desperately wanted to slap Di Tian across the face a few times and ask whether he was sober. They wanted to hunt for a Soul Ring! Was Di Tian in his right mind? He was even giving them directions?
It would have been one thing if it were for the Auspicious Beast to eat, but this was an invasive outsider species! What, was the Star Dou Great Forest his home? Did he get whatever he asked for?
Seeing Di Tian's golden eyes grow increasingly dangerous and his aura slowly pressing down upon his shoulders, Wan Demon King suddenly felt that it was not really a big deal. As long as it was not given to humans, it was fine.
"..."
"In the Black Thorn Forest south of the Mixed Zone, there is a Mutated Life Tree at its center. It absorbed the foul power unique to the Black Thorn Forest, so strictly speaking, it should be called a Devouring Life Ancient Tree."
"Some of the Evil Soul Masters you humans speak of like to run there. After I kill them, their flesh, blood, and resentment are used to nourish that Devouring Life Ancient Tree."
"That Devouring Life Ancient Tree should be eight thousand years old. Its life attribute is highly corrosive. If you can absorb it, then go ahead."
The forest was quiet, as though one could hear the sound of Wan Demon King's heart breaking. He had deliberately cultivated that Devouring Life Ancient Tree.
Everyone in the Star Dou Great Forest knew that Wan Demon King loved raising things. Every plant he personally cultivated possessed a unique specialty and was an important pillar for his future breakthrough.
He could not fool Di Tian, either. If Di Tian reported him, he would suffer plenty in the future.
Di Tian withdrew his aura and said to Lin En.
"After absorbing it, you may remain in the Core Zone for another half month. Leave this place after half a month."
"You are not a Soul Beast. Your path does not lie in the Star Dou Great Forest."
