Ch. 241The Return to Prove-the-Dao Mountain
Key plot points
- Wang Ping spends a month repeatedly fighting the Heavenly Craft Maker inside the Six Directions Eternal-Suppression Cauldron. He lasts thirty blows in his latest attempt and identifies the opponent’s weakness: the Heavenly Craft Creation Hammer can counter only one method at a time, leaving a brief opening whenever its counter changes.
- By studying the hammer and relying on the Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram, Wang Ping recreates the Heavenly Craft Creation Hammer himself. He plans to improve his knowledge of Heavenly Crafts Supreme-Yang Ninefold Forge Qi and use the technique to defeat his opponent.
- The Treasure Cauldron summons Wang Ping to Radiant Glory Hall, where Liansheng Yue, a True Disciple and fellow student of Mingyou, delivers her master’s decree: Wang Ping must go to Prove-the-Dao Mountain and lose to her, transferring some of his Qi Count.
- Wang Ping initially resists the idea of displaying his strength, but accepts the order and agrees to yield. He and Liansheng Yue travel to Prove-the-Dao Mountain, where Wang Ping appears openly before the watching cultivators.
Character developments and interactions
- Wang Ping grows more analytical and confident through repeated combat, turning defeat into a study of his opponent’s limits. Despite his strength, he prefers caution and dislikes drawing attention. He ultimately complies with his master’s plan, outwardly presenting it as a convenient way to relinquish the burden of Qi Count.
- Liansheng Yue is introduced as a graceful, seemingly holy True Disciple who has recently advanced to the Second Layer of Tribulation Transcendence and cultivates a Great Divine Ability. She discovers Wang Ping has not yet survived the Thunder Tribulation and privately assumes she may be stronger. Though she suspects he is being used as a tool, she is also attracted to him and considers him a possible future Dao companion.
- The two maintain polite, formal exchanges, but their contrasting intentions create tension: Wang Ping is guarded and strategically compliant, while Liansheng Yue is confident about the contest and personally intrigued by him.
- The Treasure Cauldron acts as Wang Ping’s intermediary, while Mingyou’s decree drives the new conflict. Lord Dragon and Xuan He remain absent, still recovering from their earlier injuries.
Significant themes
- Learning through failure: Wang Ping uses repeated losses to identify the Heavenly Craft Maker’s limitations and develop a counterstrategy.
- Hidden strength and strategic restraint: Wang Ping values remaining unnoticed over public recognition, even as his reputation makes that increasingly difficult.
- Power and manipulation: The order to lose suggests that cultivators’ contests and Qi Count may be shaped by higher-ranking figures for their own purposes.
- Appearance versus reality: Liansheng Yue’s serene, maternal image contrasts with her competitive confidence and private romantic calculations; Wang Ping’s apparent surrender likewise conceals his measured intentions.
