Ch. 341The Only One from Beginning to End!

Plot and key events

  • Wang Ping uses the Water-Fire Profound-Striking Maces, empowered by [Dragon-Elephant], to smash the phantom body in the [Single-Minded Hall]. With the [Heaven-Stealing Thief] and Immortal Talisman disrupting the enemy’s connection to the [Chaos-Suppressing Drum], Wang Ping can press his advantage with his three Spirit Treasures.
  • As the phantom body breaks apart, Wang Ping realizes the hidden scheme: the Great Rebellion cultivators he believed had awakened and acted independently were actually created by [Transformation of Void and Reality]. The supposed cultivators—and the mysterious Wood True Person—were all identities assumed by [Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person]. One person had guided events from the beginning.
  • The True Person tries to persuade Wang Ping to follow the heavenly-yin metal path to reach the third tribulation realm, then switch to heavenly-yang earth and surrender control of the [Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram]. Wang Ping recognizes the risks and rejects the offer, continuing to attack until the phantom body and its radiance are destroyed.
  • Before disappearing, the True Person makes one final offer: control of [Heavenly Craft Cave Abode] in exchange for cooperating to release the six heavens’ ancient qi. Wang Ping returns to reality as the cave abode’s central seat begins linking with him.
  • Memories and insights flood back to Wang Ping, culminating in the perfected Divine Ability [When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument].

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping shifts from confusion about Great Rebellion’s supposed betrayal to understanding the True Person’s deception. Though tempted with a seemingly viable cultivation route and a powerful bargaining position, he refuses to be drawn into another scheme and focuses on winning the fight.
  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person is exposed as the mastermind behind multiple identities. Even badly injured, he remains calculating, alternately arguing, bargaining, and trying to secure Wang Ping’s cooperation.
  • The Heaven-Stealing Thief and Immortal Talisman help Wang Ping by interrupting the True Person’s link to his Spirit Treasure, creating the opening that lets Wang Ping finish the battle.
  • Mingyou, in Wang Ping’s Sea of Consciousness, confirms that the True Person’s proposed cultivation route is plausible, but Wang Ping still rejects it because of its likely costs and the danger of becoming someone else’s pawn.

Significant themes

  • Deception and manufactured identity: The apparent network of conspirators was the work of a single person manipulating events through multiple roles.
  • Power and leverage: Spirit Treasures give Wang Ping the decisive advantage in combat, while the True Person argues that genuine cooperation depends on having something the other party cannot simply take back.
  • Autonomy versus manipulation: Wang Ping resists offers that would bind him more deeply to another power, choosing his own course despite the potential rewards.
  • A breakthrough through accumulated insight: The battle’s conclusion coincides with the return of Wang Ping’s past realizations and the completion of a major Divine Ability.

Ch. 342It's Back—I Can Feel It All Coming Back!

Key plot points and events

  • In cosmic deep space, the Mingzi Profound One Origin Lord uses a hand formed from water mysteries to trap three Immortal Sect True Persons and Victory Bliss Arhat beneath a vast ocean, preventing them from reaching the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person deduces that the Origin Lord is buying time for events inside the Furnace. He is holding back to avoid revealing himself and drawing the attention of other Supreme True Lords.
  • The Immortal Sect True Persons briefly break free when a brilliant sword-like radiance exposes the concealed water arrangement. But the battlefield has been hidden, and they realize a “variable” has already been sent into the Furnace.
  • Inside the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode, Wang Ping regains all his memories, takes control of the estate, and completes the Divine Ability When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument. A dormant ability beneath the Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram joins it seamlessly.
  • Heaven-Stealing Thief lends Wang Ping Head-Patting Mountain, explaining that its qian-trigram qualities can aid his breakthrough. He urges Wang Ping to seal the estate during cultivation, conceal his breakthrough, and then kill Treasure Gourd.
  • Immortal Talisman also promises to help kill Treasure Gourd, but says he will later need Wang Ping’s cooperation.

Character developments and interactions

  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person displays strategic insight, recognizing the limits of the Origin Lord’s intervention and the meaning of the water-and-thunder imagery.
  • Wang Ping’s memories and prior abilities return, restoring his confidence and deepening his connection with Heaven-Stealing Thief and Immortal Talisman.
  • Heaven-Stealing Thief shifts from combatant to ally, offering both a valuable treasure and practical advice. Immortal Talisman likewise commits to helping Wang Ping, while hinting at a future favor.
  • Victory Bliss Arhat protests being caught in the conflict, emphasizing that he only came to retrieve his disciple; the trapped Immortal Sect True Persons remain comparatively composed.

Significant themes

  • Concealment and revelation: Water’s strength lies in hiding, while truth and brilliant radiance can expose it.
  • Strategy and restraint: The Origin Lord avoids a direct clash, using concealment and delay to shape events.
  • Fate, trust, and cooperation: Wang Ping’s allies reveal that they, too, have been involved in the larger design—and renew their bonds as his breakthrough approaches.
  • Transformation and emergence: Wang Ping’s paired abilities and the chapter’s water-thunder imagery suggest a transition from hidden potential toward open manifestation.

Ch. 343Water Qi Was Still Too Exalted!

Key plot points

  • Wang Ping reflects on his unequal relationship with the Water True Lord, who has helped him without receiving anything in return. Now that Wang Ping controls Heavenly Craft Cave Abode, he realizes he has leverage and can negotiate with either the Water True Lord or Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person—perhaps even balancing the two for his own benefit.
  • He studies the Water True Lord’s Great Divine Ability, When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument, and discovers its two stages:
    • Concealment Within the Body hides injuries, evades calamities, and keeps arts in reserve.
    • Concealment Outside the Body can mask cause, fate, and the passage of time, though it can be countered and becomes temporarily unusable if exposed.
  • Its culmination, Revealing Dragon in the Fields, lets Wang Ping borrow the authority of Fate. By secretly guiding events and then revealing himself at the right moment, he can temporarily turn even small deeds—or existing Merit Deeds—into power he can use.
  • Wang Ping recognizes the ability as an extraordinary tool for long-term planning, but holds back from immediately pursuing a breakthrough.
  • Kunlun tells Wang Ping that, with Wang Ping’s help, he can completely destroy Earth-Yang Fire in three months. The process will cost Kunlun his life.
  • When Wang Ping questions this sacrifice, Kunlun explains that he wants to leave a lasting mark on Fate. Inspired by watching his senior brother rise from humble origins, he believes even someone of modest talent can make life meaningful through decisive action.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping moves from guilt and uncertainty about his one-sided partnership with the Water True Lord to a more confident, pragmatic outlook. He recognizes his growing bargaining power and is fascinated by the strategic potential of his new Divine Ability.
  • Kunlun reveals his privileged upbringing and lifelong sense of inadequacy beside his exceptionally gifted senior brother. Rather than pursue a future he believes will end in failure, he chooses a self-sacrificial deed that he hopes will give his life purpose.
  • Wang Ping and Kunlun share a frank conversation about talent, opportunity, ambition, and mortality. Wang Ping suspects Kunlun’s plan may conceal another motive, but Kunlun’s explanation clarifies that his sacrifice is personal and deliberate.

Significant themes

  • Reciprocity and leverage: A true partnership requires both sides to bring something to the table; power gives Wang Ping the ability to negotiate rather than simply accept help.
  • Fate, merit, and planning: Wang Ping’s new ability links concealment, timing, and influence over Fate, turning careful schemes into temporary Merit Deeds.
  • Talent versus opportunity: Kunlun’s story suggests that mortals and those of ordinary ability may still achieve greatness if given chances and pushed to act.
  • Meaning through sacrifice: Kunlun accepts death as the price of leaving a lasting mark, contrasting his choice with the more ambitious futures he imagines for Wang Ping and their peers.

Ch. 344Hibernating Dragon Kun, Flying and Transforming into a Peng!

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping seals off the routes around Kunlun and decides to trust him, chiefly because he believes he can still protect himself if things go wrong.
  • Using When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument, Wang Ping confronts the Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram’s suppression and breaks through to the Fate River, reaching the Third Tribulation Realm.
  • He realizes the True Lord’s earlier scheme was also a lesson: the Water Qi escape mirrors Revealing Dragon in the Fields, the next stage after the hidden dragon.
  • In the Fate River, Wang Ping sees the many lives he has lived through the Peace Scripture’s revivals. He uses their memories as the blueprint for his Destiny Form, with Divine Ability as his brush and Dharma Power as ink.
  • A Heart Ape helps him remain aware while revisiting his past lives. Water-aligned energy from Water Qi Exercising Authority replenishes his nearly depleted power, allowing him to finish.
  • His Destiny Form takes the shape of a kun, symbolizing a being that can transform into a peng. Wang Ping names it Hibernating Dragon Kun, and the completed form shines with new radiance.

Character developments

  • Wang Ping moves from being trapped by the Diagram’s suppression to understanding and overcoming it through insight into his Divine Ability.
  • He recognizes that his many past identities are parts of one continuous self, and that maintaining this sense of “me” is essential to shaping his Destiny Form.
  • His confidence is tempered by caution: he celebrates reaching the Fate River but knows that without completing his Destiny Form, his breakthrough would remain unstable.

Significant themes

  • Concealment and emergence: The hidden dragon’s patient restraint gives way to the revealed dragon’s rise, reflecting Wang Ping’s own breakthrough.
  • Identity across lives: His rebirths and varied identities form one personal history rather than separate selves.
  • Transformation and potential: The kun’s transformation into a peng represents Wang Ping’s capacity to move from hidden endurance to ambitious flight.
  • Preparation and timing: Power becomes effective when used at the right moment, embodied by the hidden dragon’s eventual emergence.

Character interactions

  • Wang Ping’s relationship with Kunlun is defined by guarded trust: he chooses to rely on him, but keeps his own contingency plans.
  • The True Lord influences Wang Ping indirectly; Wang Ping reinterprets the True Lord’s past actions as deliberate instruction in the Divine Ability.
  • The Heart Ape appears within Wang Ping’s consciousness as a guide and protector, helping him cut through memory and confusion.

Ch. 345The Golden Cicada Shed Its Shell and Escaped the Third Tribulation Realm!

Plot and events

  • Wang Ping’s [Hibernating Dragon Kun] survives the Fate River’s scouring, completing his breakthrough into the Third Tribulation Realm. His accumulated experiences and hardships have given his Destiny Form enough weight and strength to endure.
  • His Immortal Dao cultivation now surpasses his Martial Dao cultivation. He can perceive Fate clearly, though he recognizes that his body remains essential until he becomes a Refiner.
  • Wang Ping realizes he could shed his Great Rebellion identity by dying and reincarnating, since the Divine Ability Lockdown no longer binds him. He chooses not to: doing so would betray Water Qi True Lord, who helped him, and would not hide him from that lord’s own abilities.
  • Determined to settle old scores, Wang Ping leaves the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode.
  • Outside the Eight Trigrams Furnace, Tian Xing guesses Wang Ping used Heavenly-Yin Metal to advance. Mingyou dismisses the theory and deduces that a powerful figure has intervened to protect Wang Ping—and that Wang Ping has found another way to escape the True Person’s scheme.
  • The three True Persons are nearing their return as the dark ocean containing Mingyou and Tian Xing rapidly dissipates.
  • On a higher plane, Victory Bliss Arhat identifies Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person’s ambition: by restoring the Six Heavens’ Ancient Qi, he hopes to correct the disorder caused by Great Rebellion and attain the Ultimate Position of [Mountain-Wind Gu].
  • When Profound Firmament Responsive-Origin True Person presses him to act, Cinnabar Sun admits their current scheme has already failed. Rather than abandon the larger game, he proposes winning elsewhere.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping emerges stronger and freer, but shows restraint: despite being able to escape his identity through reincarnation, he honors his debt to Water Qi True Lord and instead resolves to confront his enemies.
  • Mingyou remains shrewd and self-interested. He correctly reads the situation, suspects a powerful patron has taken an interest in Wang Ping, and is content to wait safely while events unfold.
  • Tian Xing eagerly but incorrectly attributes Wang Ping’s change to Heavenly-Yin Metal. Mingyou teasingly suggests Tian Xing’s cultivation is immature, provoking his irritation.
  • Cinnabar Sun remains calm and strategic, accepting a setback as one lost move rather than a lost game. His confidence puzzles Victory Bliss Arhat.
  • Responsive-Origin True Person is anxious because the plan threatens the Wood Dao Path and his own cultivation; Cinnabar Sun’s admission that the scheme failed briefly enrages him.
  • Victory Bliss Arhat acts as an observant interpreter of Cinnabar Sun’s ambition, weighing both its scale and the risk of failure.

Significant themes

  • Experience as cultivation: A life shaped by hardship and action gives a Destiny Form the weight needed to withstand Fate.
  • Debt and loyalty: Wang Ping’s freedom does not erase his obligations; gratitude restrains him from taking the easiest escape.
  • Ambition and order: Cinnabar Sun frames restoring the Six Heavens’ Ancient Qi as a way to repair cosmic disorder and earn supreme status.
  • Strategy beyond setbacks: The closing exchange emphasizes that losing one move—or one side of a conflict—does not mean losing the whole game.

Ch. 346Treasure Gourd's Ominous Premonition

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping emerges from the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode after breaking through. He ignores the Heaven-Stealing Thief’s demand to return [Head-Patting Mountain] and instead asks Immortal Talisman for help against Treasure Gourd.
  • Wang Ping persuades the Heaven-Stealing Thief to lend him the Spirit Treasure, arguing that he needs it to overcome Treasure Gourd’s own powerful artifacts. The Thief refuses to fight personally, explaining that his true body cannot act freely, but agrees to help Kunlun destroy the Earth-Yang Fire.
  • Immortal Talisman agrees to help kill Treasure Gourd. In exchange, he asks Wang Ping to first pursue “Joining Xin, Seeing Water” by using Heavenly-Yin Metal to shatter the [Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram] on his body, and only afterward destroy the imperial investiture. Wang Ping accepts, judging that the loss of the Divine Ability is manageable.
  • On the sealed Sword-Dueling Battlefield, Treasure Gourd gathers the scattered Brahma Kingdom fighters. She realizes that a stronger force has sealed the battlefield, leaving the Immortal Sect’s True Persons unable to control events directly.
  • Treasure Gourd deduces that this larger conflict is a struggle to win over Victory Bliss Arhat. If the Arhat gains nothing from the duel—and especially if Treasure Gourd is killed—he may turn against the Immortal Sect’s True Persons.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping shows himself to be opportunistic and bold, using the Heaven-Stealing Thief’s Spirit Treasure and invoking True Lord’s plan to pressure him. He readily accepts Immortal Talisman’s request, treating the sacrifice of his Divine Ability as a worthwhile strategic cost.
  • The Heaven-Stealing Thief is exasperated by Wang Ping’s manipulation. Though he lends [Head-Patting Mountain], he draws a firm line at personally joining the fight.
  • Immortal Talisman acts as a willing ally but ties his assistance to Wang Ping’s future path, revealing a deeper strategic interest in Wang’s cultivation and political separation from Great Rebellion.
  • Treasure Gourd proves perceptive and politically astute. By tracing each faction’s incentives, she recognizes that she herself may be targeted to provoke the Arhat into opposing the Immortal Sect.

Significant themes

  • Power and manipulation: Characters bargain over artifacts, favors, and allegiance, while larger forces maneuver through them.
  • Political strategy and unintended consequences: Treasure Gourd sees that her possible death could shift the balance between the Brahma Kingdom and the Immortal Sect.
  • Sacrifice and identity: Wang Ping is willing to abandon a Divine Ability and sever ties to an old identity for strategic advantage.
  • Agency versus being a pawn: Wang Ping embraces the possibility of serving True Lord, while Treasure Gourd recognizes that she may be treated as a piece in a much larger game.

Ch. 347Northern Crimson-Net Golden Pure Land

Chapter Summary

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping, Immortal Talisman, and eight recovered Immortal Sect disciples search the grassland for the missing Brahma Cultivators, but find no trace of them. Wang Ping’s [Sound Listening] cannot recover their conversations because the Brahma Kingdom has taken precautions.
  • By listening to traces left in heaven and earth, Wang Ping discovers that the Brahma Cultivators have gone beyond the heavens to [Tianshuang Grotto].
  • Their disappearance threatens the Immortal Sect’s plan. If the grotto manifests before the Earth-Yang Fire is extinguished and the [Six-Heaven Cause Elimination] Merit Deed is restored, the trapped True Person’s will could escape.
  • At the grotto, Wang Ping and Immortal Talisman find a vast temple called [Willow Leaf Palace], the [Northern Crimson-Net Golden Pure Land]. Treasure Gourd has recreated the outward form of the dwelling of the Brahma bodhisattva Lord of Esoteric Traces, borrowing some of its power.
  • Wang Ping sends Zhu Fuzi inside to investigate. Zhu Fuzi is trapped in a formation that generates endless, corrosive golden water. Unable to escape normally, he self-destructs, destroying the formation and defeating its guardian, Jinchi.
  • Wang Ping revives Zhu Fuzi with [Heaven-Reversing Sun-Returning]. However, Jinchi also reappears, revealing that the Brahma Cultivators can survive or recover from the tactic that had previously been so effective against them.
  • Immortal Talisman identifies the Pure Land’s central mystery as [Secret-Keeping]: every Brahma Cultivator inside conceals Treasure Gourd. Breaking the Pure Land might expose her, but could also provoke [Tianshuang Grotto] to emerge prematurely.

Character developments

  • Wang Ping remains decisive and protective. He quickly grasps the danger posed by the grotto, leads the investigation, and reassures Zhu Fuzi that he can revive him if necessary.
  • Immortal Talisman provides strategic and religious knowledge, explaining both the Pure Land’s significance and the danger of attacking it.
  • Zhu Fuzi proves courageous and resourceful. He accepts the dangerous reconnaissance mission and chooses self-destruction rather than let the formation wear him down.
  • Treasure Gourd emerges as a capable strategist: she has united the Brahma Cultivators, hidden herself within their collective protection, and prepared countermeasures against the Immortal Sect’s tactics.

Significant themes

  • Unity versus disunity: The Brahma Kingdom’s hierarchy enables its cultivators to act together, unlike the more independent Immortal Sect disciples.
  • Information and concealment: Wang Ping’s listening powers are countered by deliberate secrecy, while the Pure Land’s [Secret-Keeping] makes Treasure Gourd nearly impossible to locate.
  • Sacrifice and trust: Zhu Fuzi’s willingness to self-destruct reflects the confidence the disciples have gained in Wang Ping’s ability to restore him.
  • Tactical victory at a larger cost: The formation is broken, but a direct assault on the Pure Land could trigger the very catastrophe the Immortal Sect is trying to prevent.

Character interactions

Wang Ping and Immortal Talisman work together to track the enemy and assess the threat, though Immortal Talisman cautions against acting rashly. Wang Ping entrusts Zhu Fuzi with the reconnaissance mission and promises to revive him; Zhu Fuzi’s sacrifice confirms that trust. The Brahma Cultivators, meanwhile, cooperate under Treasure Gourd’s authority, using their concealment and defenses to delay the Immortal Sect.

Ch. 348No Mediocre Foes on the Path to Immortality

Chapter Summary: “No Worthless Enemies on the Path of Immortality”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Jinchi survives the enemy’s self-destruction because Treasure Gourd’s preparations allow Brahma Cultivators to teleport away before being seriously injured. Since they suffer no damage, Wang Ping’s ability to extract lifespan from wounded enemies becomes ineffective.
  • Jingshan orders Jinchi to repair his destroyed formation diagram while the Brahma forces maintain the defensive formation inside the Northern Crimson-Net Golden Pure Land.
  • Wang Ping realizes that the Brahma Cultivators’ formations and coordinated teleportation have made their previous self-destruction strategy useless. Treasure Gourd remains hidden within the Pure Land, and she cannot be located until the Pure Land is broken.
  • Immortal Talisman volunteers to enter the Pure Land and force Treasure Gourd to reveal herself. Wang Ping lends him the Spirit Treasure Head-Patting Mountain and promises to use the Six Directions Eternal-Suppression Cauldron and Great Shun’s National Fortune to rescue him if necessary.
  • Jingshan emerges to stall Wang Ping and Immortal Talisman, pretending to seek peace while refusing to abandon Treasure Gourd. Wang Ping offers to spare him and the other Brahma Cultivators if they leave, but Jingshan insists on his loyalty because Treasure Gourd controls his life.
  • Immortal Talisman attacks Jingshan with the True Spirit Position and Karma Diagram, immediately gaining the upper hand. His supreme technique, “The emperor commands his subject; if the lord wills the subject’s death,” forces Jingshan’s Dharma Power and Divine Abilities to obey him.
  • Jingshan counters with Broadly Forming Benevolent Connections, using karmic principles to resist and partially appropriate Immortal Talisman’s power. He even escapes the diagram despite its apparent integrity.
  • Immortal Talisman escalates by summoning the Edict Immortal Lord, while Jingshan responds with the Great Vow Vow to Make Offerings to All Buddhas. Despite Jingshan’s powerful vow and golden body, he is again overwhelmed.
  • With no choice, Jingshan reveals his hidden trump card: the Alms-Seeking Formation, anchored by the Spirit Treasure Begging-the-World Alms Bowl. The formation forcibly “begs away” and removes Immortal Talisman’s True Spirit Position and Karma Diagram.
  • Jingshan believes he has gained the advantage and prepares to force Immortal Talisman to retreat. However, Immortal Talisman suddenly summons Single-Minded Hall, apparently exposing another Spirit Treasure for Jingshan to steal. Jingshan is delighted, believing Immortal Talisman has made a fatal miscalculation.

Character Developments

  • Wang Ping remains cautious and strategic. He recognizes the enemy’s countermeasures quickly and avoids personally revealing himself as the primary killer. His willingness to lend a Spirit Treasure and provide a rescue plan shows his trust in Immortal Talisman.
  • Immortal Talisman demonstrates overwhelming confidence and a sovereign-like fighting style, using his strongest techniques immediately rather than gradually testing his opponent. He also proves exceptionally cautious by withholding his own Spirit Treasure until necessary.
  • Jingshan is shown to be both loyal and highly resourceful. Though initially outmatched, he uses karmic techniques, vows, and his Spirit Treasure in succession to survive. His confidence rises after successfully taking away Immortal Talisman’s Divine Ability.
  • Treasure Gourd remains hidden and manipulates the battlefield indirectly through her preparations and control over the Brahma Cultivators.
  • Jinchi acts as a support cultivator, retreating to repair the formation rather than risking another confrontation.

Significant Themes

  • No opponent can be underestimated: Even cultivators who appear weaker possess unique techniques, Spirit Treasures, or desperate tactics capable of changing the battle.
  • Strategy versus brute force: The conflict emphasizes preparation, formations, concealment, teleportation, and timing rather than cultivation alone.
  • The danger of equal-realm opponents: Wang Ping reflects that enemies at the same cultivation level are especially difficult because each has survived through exceptional ability and luck.
  • Loyalty and coercion: Jingshan claims devotion to the Brahma Kingdom, but his refusal to defect is largely motivated by fear of Treasure Gourd’s control.
  • Karmic principles as both faith and weapon: Buddhist vows and concepts of karmic connection are presented as powerful combat techniques, while Immortal Talisman views Jingshan’s methods as disguised theft.
  • Hidden trump cards: Both sides conceal their strongest resources, creating uncertainty over who has truly gained the advantage.

Character Interactions

  • Wang Ping and Immortal Talisman: They cooperate closely, with Wang Ping supplying equipment and a contingency plan while Immortal Talisman takes the dangerous lead.
  • Wang Ping and Jingshan: Wang Ping offers Jingshan a chance to leave peacefully, but Jingshan rejects it and attempts to delay him through moral appeals.
  • Immortal Talisman and Jingshan: Their battle becomes a contest between imperial authority and Buddhist karmic methods. Immortal Talisman repeatedly suppresses Jingshan, while Jingshan survives through clever counters and finally steals away his Divine Ability.
  • Jingshan and Treasure Gourd: Jingshan’s loyalty is absolute in practice, though the chapter implies that Treasure Gourd’s power over him leaves him little genuine freedom.
  • The chapter ends with Jingshan believing that Single-Minded Hall is about to fall into his hands, setting up a reversal in the next encounter.

Ch. 349This Is What a Proper Sword Duel Looks Like!

Key events

  • Outside the Pure Land, Wang Ping recognizes that Jingshan is a capable opponent but remains confident the Immortal Sect can win. He sends eight Inner Sect Disciples inside, telling them to stay together and not blow themselves up.
  • Immortal Talisman breaks Jingshan’s Alms-Seeking Formation by combining two Spirit Treasures: Head-Patting Mountain and the Single-Minded Hall. Jingshan escapes deeper into the Pure Land rather than being captured.
  • Jingshan responds by deploying followers of the Ming Kings to delay the invaders with successive formations. He expects the Immortal Sect to avoid killing too many Brahma Cultivators, since their deaths could bring Tianshuang Grotto into play.
  • Immortal Talisman assigns teams to tackle the Gold-Tasting, Dharma Debate, and Awe-Inspiring Radiance formations. Wang Ping interrupts to claim the Joyful Formation for himself, while Immortal Talisman and the disciples attack the others.
  • The teams exploit their strengths to make progress, but the repeated formations and the defenders’ ability to withdraw, recover, and return threaten to exhaust the smaller invading force.
  • Jingshan notices that the Immortal Sect fighters barely defend themselves yet heal quickly. Before he can understand why, a tremor shakes the Pure Land and disrupts several formations. Wang Ping has entered and charges straight for the Joyful Formation.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping shifts from observing to acting, showing confidence in his own abilities and eagerness to confront the Joyful Formation. He also has a secret method that conceals the workings of heaven, though its purpose is not revealed here.
  • Immortal Talisman demonstrates tactical skill and trust in Wang Ping, accepting his reassignment even while suspecting Wang wants the most challenging fight for himself.
  • Jingshan remains resourceful after his defeat, relying on the Pure Land’s teleportation and layered defenses. His confidence in wearing down the invaders is shaken by Wang Ping’s dramatic entrance.
  • The Inner Sect Disciples coordinate effectively: Qing Xuanzi and Bai Ling counter the molten gold, while Ming Daozi, Yan Yun, and Dunjia combine deduction and execution to break their assigned formations.

Significant themes

  • Preparation and adaptability: Both sides rely on layered plans, specialized skills, and home-ground advantages.
  • Attrition versus overwhelming force: Jingshan aims to win by prolonging the fight, while the Immortal Sect presses forward through coordinated attacks and powerful treasures.
  • Uneasy restraint: The threat of Tianshuang Grotto limits how freely the invaders can kill, giving Jingshan a strategic shield.
  • The cost of confidence: Jingshan believes his formations can stall the enemy indefinitely, but Wang Ping’s arrival abruptly changes the balance.

Ch. 350Martial Might Crushes Immortal and Brahma, Maces Strike Across Two Worlds and Ten Directions!

Plot points and events

  • Wang Ping charges into Jingshan’s Joyful Formation, which Jingshan designed to exploit the desire-stirring talisman in Wang Ping’s Sea of Consciousness. But Wang’s armor and Tyrannical Will protect him from its effects, and he destroys the formation with one strike.
  • He tears through the remaining formations in the Pure Land, growing stronger with each victory through the Great Victory Scripture. Jingshan’s hurried defenses collapse almost immediately.
  • Jingshan unleashes his trump card: the Secret-Trace Vajra Pestle, empowered by the Pure Land and the Brahma Cultivators’ accumulated strength. Wang meets it with Dragon-Elephant-enhanced maces and drives it back with 108 blows, though the collision badly injures him.
  • Wang reveals how he has kept Immortal Talisman and the others fighting: the Peace Scripture’s Plum for Peach transferred their injuries to him. He then activates Perish with the Sun, reflecting his accumulated harm onto the Brahma Cultivators who caused it. They are gravely injured, though Wang deliberately avoids killing them.
  • With the Pure Land’s concealment breaking down, Treasure Gourd appears at its center. She threatens to kill the Brahma Cultivators, but Wang remains confident that his scripture can turn their injuries back on her.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping demonstrates that his apparent vulnerability to the Joyful Formation is a false lead. He is strategically perceptive, physically overwhelming, and willing to absorb others’ injuries to keep his allies in the fight.
  • Jingshan begins confident in his carefully prepared plan, but Wang’s rapid advance unnerves him. Even his powerful final weapon fails, leaving him wounded and desperate.
  • Zhong Jian panics as Wang approaches and faints during the clash between Wang and the vajra pestle.
  • Treasure Gourd emerges only after the Pure Land’s defenses weaken and tries to deter Wang by threatening the Brahma Cultivators. Wang answers with a counter-threat grounded in his retaliatory scripture.
  • Wang’s earlier opponents, Immortal Talisman and the eight Inner Sect Disciples, benefit from his injury-transfer ability and remain in the battle.

Significant themes

  • Strength joined with strategy: Wang’s victory depends not just on force but on understanding the formations, protecting his mind, and timing his scriptures.
  • Sacrifice and reciprocal harm: Wang takes injuries meant for his allies, then turns that suffering against the attackers.
  • Overconfidence and reversal: Jingshan’s confidence in his tailored trap gives way to shock as Wang dismantles each defense.
  • Escalating momentum: Each victory makes Wang harder to stop, while the enemy’s formations and resolve steadily collapse.
The excerpt ends with an author’s note rather than another story event: the author announces a planned burst of updates and thanks readers for their support.

Ch. 352Three Battles Against Treasure Gourd!

Chapter Summary: “Three Battles Against Treasure Gourd!”

Key plot points and events

  • Treasure Gourd realizes Wang Ping’s earlier attack may carry a curse, so she avoids killing the Brahma Cultivators. Wang Ping likewise cannot simply kill them without risking consequences for Tianshuang Grotto.
  • Wang Ping transforms into his colossal Ultimate Person form and attacks with enormous twin maces. He counters Treasure Gourd’s summoned vajra guardians with the Tathagata Divine Palm, using his immense physical strength and many spectral arms.
  • As Immortal Talisman and the Immortal Sect disciples close in, Treasure Gourd uses her All-Seeing Heavenly-Eye Vow to conceal and trap them temporarily, sacrificing her golden body’s power to isolate Wang Ping.
  • Wang Ping refuses to press the advantage and instead defends while waiting for reinforcements. Forced to make the most of her sacrifice, Treasure Gourd launches a direct assault.
  • Treasure Gourd disguises herself among the vajra guardians and uses her blue gourd’s purple light to try to collect Wang Ping. He escapes by dispersing into clear qi through Nine-Breath Qi Assimilation.
  • Treasure Gourd counters this technique with Stellar Magnetic Dark Sand, which clings to Wang Ping’s dispersed form and makes it difficult for him to gather himself or recover.
  • She then uses a Three-Pronged Vajra Hook to pierce Wang Ping’s scalp and Sea of Consciousness, binding him with a hooked cord.
  • Wang Ping activates Heaven-Reversing Sun-Returning, reversing time at the cost of three years of his life. His injuries, lost energy, and the dark sand are undone—but the vajra hook remains attached, leaving him in serious danger.

Character developments

  • Treasure Gourd proves resourceful and adaptable. Having learned from their previous encounters, she develops precise counters to Wang Ping’s techniques and is willing to sacrifice a powerful resource to gain a tactical opening.
  • Wang Ping shows strategic patience as well as formidable strength. Rather than let pride force him into a fight on Treasure Gourd’s terms, he waits for support. When trapped, he relies on one of his rarest abilities, but the persistent hook reveals the limits of his recovery.
  • Immortal Talisman and the eight Immortal Sect disciples remain temporarily removed from the battle, giving Treasure Gourd a brief chance to focus on Wang Ping.

Significant themes

  • Adaptation and countermeasures: A technique’s advantage fades once an opponent understands it; Treasure Gourd’s new methods are designed around what she learned in earlier battles.
  • Strategy over pride: Wang Ping chooses survival and tactical advantage over the appearance of courage.
  • Costly power: Wang Ping’s time-reversal ability restores him but costs three years of his life, while Treasure Gourd sacrifices her golden body’s power to isolate her opponent.
  • Escalating rivalry: Each encounter reveals new techniques and counters, making the conflict increasingly difficult to predict.

Character interactions

  • Wang Ping and Treasure Gourd fight as increasingly well-matched rivals, each anticipating and countering the other’s methods.
  • Treasure Gourd temporarily separates Immortal Talisman and his companions from Wang Ping, changing the battle from a group assault into a duel.
  • Wang Ping’s refusal to attack frustrates Treasure Gourd, but she commits to her plan and attacks anyway. Their contest ends unresolved, with Wang Ping restored but still bound by the vajra hook.

Ch. 353Merit Must Be Concealed, Great Deeds Built on Deceit

Plot points and events

  • Treasure Gourd reveals that her Three-Pronged Vajra Hook has secretly locked onto Wang Ping. Once attached, it guarantees her attacks will reach him, even through defenses or attempts to evade.
  • She unleashes the Heaven-Solemn Time-Killing Edict, a heavenly-yin metal weapon obtained through a bargain with a consciousness trapped in the Tianshuang Grotto. Wang Ping blocks part of its force with the Six Directions Eternal-Suppression Cauldron, but the hook’s cord lets the attack pierce him anyway, chilling his body and weakening his power.
  • Treasure Gourd captures him with the Seven Sons Heart-Linked Gourd. Wang Ping escapes by using Heaven-Reversing Sun-Returning, which also reverses the attack’s effects—but the hook remains attached, leaving him vulnerable to the same sequence again.
  • Wang Ping keeps reversing time, not merely escaping the gourd but dragging Treasure Gourd’s own timeline backward toward the moment before she built her Pure Land. She cannot foresee the outcome with her Mark of Sapphire-Blue Eyes, and her attacks are repeatedly undone by the reversal.
  • Treasure Gourd realizes the reversal may cost Wang Ping his lifespan. She continues attacking, hoping to exhaust him, and notices white strands appearing in his hair. Just as she begins to understand why he is acting this way, her thought slips away.

Character developments and interactions

  • Treasure Gourd demonstrates careful planning and confidence: she concealed her true weapon, arranged for the heavenly-yin metal, and exploited the hook’s guaranteed-hit effect. Her certainty falters when Wang Ping’s time reversal affects her as well and blinds her prophetic sight.
  • Wang Ping is badly weakened but refuses to accept a simple escape. Instead, he uses time reversal offensively, targeting the foundation of Treasure Gourd’s advantage despite the apparent cost to his lifespan.
  • Their fight becomes a contest between Treasure Gourd’s layered traps and Wang Ping’s increasingly costly manipulation of time. The hook keeps her attacks connected, but time reversal repeatedly erases their consequences.

Significant themes

  • Concealment and strategy: Treasure Gourd’s hidden preparations embody the chapter’s maxim that merit and ambition must be cloaked in deceit.
  • Adaptation under pressure: Both combatants abandon predictable tactics and seek new ways to overcome the other.
  • Power and cost: Wang Ping’s time-based escape may save him, but the emerging white in his hair suggests that victory could consume his life.
  • Uncertainty and disrupted foresight: Treasure Gourd’s inability to see the future—and her fading train of thought—signals that Wang Ping’s actions have unsettled more than the battle’s immediate outcome.

Ch. 354Revealing Dragon in the Fields, All Under Heaven Revealed

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping’s Heaven-Reversing Sun-Returning pulls Treasure Gourd out of the Pure Land, but the technique fails before it can send her all the way back. The Wang Ping facing her appears exhausted, with his hair turned white.
  • Treasure Gourd realizes this Wang Ping is only a clone and assumes the real one is hiding nearby. She tries to trap the clone with the Purple Gourd, but he repeatedly teleports away using the Six Directions Eternal-Suppression Cauldron, stretching out her guaranteed-hit attack and threatening to prolong the fight.
  • To stop his movement, Treasure Gourd uses the Begging-the-World Alms Bowl to seize the cauldron. Without it, Wang Ping is pulled into the gourd and apparently destroyed, leaving two spirit treasures behind.
  • Treasure Gourd suspects the apparent victory is another trick. Her suspicion is justified: Wang Ping’s true body appears only three feet away.
  • Confident that he cannot use his strongest weapons, Treasure Gourd unleashes the Esoteric-Traces Vajra Demon-Repelling Spell. But Wang Ping reveals a powerful, previously concealed water-qi divine ability, When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument. It overwhelms her protective spell, leaving her stunned.

Character developments

  • Wang Ping shows patience and tactical ingenuity, using a clone to draw out Treasure Gourd’s abilities while his true body waits in ambush. His final reveal suggests his strength and capabilities far exceed her assessment.
  • Treasure Gourd remains composed and resourceful, adapting quickly to Wang Ping’s teleportation and successfully removing his cauldron. However, she underestimates him by assuming the loss of his spirit treasures leaves him nearly powerless. Her confidence collapses when his hidden ability emerges.

Significant themes

  • Concealment and revelation: The battle turns on mistaken assumptions about which Wang Ping is the real one, and on his hidden power finally becoming visible.
  • Tactical adaptation: Each fighter counters the other’s methods, making the duel a contest of planning as much as strength.
  • Overconfidence and uncertainty: Treasure Gourd repeatedly believes she has understood Wang Ping’s strategy, only to discover that her conclusions are incomplete.

Character interactions

  • Treasure Gourd questions why Wang Ping went to such lengths to free her, while he remains silent and appears depleted.
  • Their exchange becomes a strategic duel: she tries to capture him, he uses distance and teleportation to frustrate her, and she responds by stealing his cauldron.
  • After the clone’s apparent death, Treasure Gourd’s unguarded confidence is tested by the true Wang Ping’s sudden appearance and overwhelming reveal.

Ch. 355I'm Already Standing Above Your Fate!

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping reveals that he has reached the Third Tribulation Realm and manifests his completed Destiny Form, the Hibernating Dragon Kun, which transforms into a Peng alongside his Divine Ability, [When the Gentleman Conceals His Instrument].
  • Treasure Gourd initially believes that, despite Wang Ping’s strength, her Spirit Treasure gives her a chance to resist. But his Divine Ability gradually uncovers the truth behind their earlier fight: his apparent time reversal was a deception. He had concealed the effects of time and hidden his injuries, making his methods seem different from what they were.
  • Wang Ping opens [Heavenly Craft Cave Abode]. Treasure Gourd tries to flee, but a newly manifested Merit Deed binds her in place: [Treasure Gourd Eradicating Earth-Yang Fire].
  • The Merit Deed exists because Treasure Gourd herself killed Wang Ping’s clone, whose Immortal Body was the last thing connected to Earth-Yang Fire. Now she is compelled to enter the cave abode, where vast quantities of Earth-Yang Fire materials await.
  • The gates close behind her. Treasure Gourd realizes she may be forced to attack the Heavenly Estate repeatedly until she destroys herself, unless Wang Ping releases her from the Merit Deed.

Character developments

  • Wang Ping is revealed as a patient, strategic combatant. He concealed his methods and manipulated the battle so that Treasure Gourd would unknowingly create the conditions for his victory. His calm confidence shows how completely he believes he controls the situation.
  • Treasure Gourd moves from shock to confidence, then to dawning understanding and despair. She recognizes too late that Wang Ping’s apparent weaknesses and time-based tricks were part of a deliberate plan.

Significant themes

  • Deception and hidden power: Wang Ping’s greatest advantage is not raw force but his ability to conceal the nature and effects of his abilities.
  • Fate and responsibility: Treasure Gourd is trapped by a deed she herself performed; her actions become the basis of a binding destiny.
  • Control versus agency: She walks into the cave abode of her own accord, yet the Merit Deed has effectively removed her freedom to choose.
  • The tyranny of power: Wang Ping’s Divine Ability appears to govern not just physical action but the meaning and consequences of events.

Character interactions

  • Wang Ping and Treasure Gourd’s battle becomes a contest of interpretation as much as strength: he deliberately misleads her, while she tries to reconstruct his strategy.
  • Once trapped, Treasure Gourd acknowledges his mastery and bitterly names the principles behind his Divine Ability. Wang Ping answers with the chapter’s final declaration: “I’m already standing above your fate.”

Ch. 356Creation Plays Tricks!

Key plot points

  • Wang Ping uses the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode’s awakened Earth-Yang Fire treasures to overwhelm Treasure Gourd, who is compelled by his Merit Deed to attack the cave’s spirit materials.
  • Facing certain death, Treasure Gourd reflects on her origins and her mission to restore the Brahma Kingdom’s Thirty-Two Marks. She had hoped the Immortal-Brahma Sword Duel would provide the final Merit Deed needed to perfect her Mark of Sapphire-Blue Eyes.
  • The flames reduce her body to charcoal. Wang Ping observes that her death creates unusual phenomena in heaven and earth, suggesting she cultivated her own nature rather than relying solely on power bestowed by a superior.
  • After waiting, Wang Ping discovers Treasure Gourd preserved a sliver of her true spirit inside her corpse, hoping he would lift the Merit Deed and let her escape to the Pure Land. He does not, and destroys her remaining consciousness.
  • The Peace Scripture absorbs her corpse and creates Scroll Eight, “Creation Plays Tricks,” which lets the user exchange accumulated “Things Go Against One’s Wishes” for “Wish Fulfillment.” The greater the effort and desire behind a failed attempt, the greater the potential wish.

Character developments and interactions

  • Treasure Gourd is revealed as a bodhisattva’s disciple, born from a gourd in the Willow Leaf Palace and charged with restoring the Thirty-Two Marks. Even while dying, she uses every method available to survive, but accepts defeat without hatred when her plan fails.
  • Wang Ping remains cautious and resolute, treating Treasure Gourd as a genuine enemy rather than sparing or bargaining with her. His patience exposes her feigned death.
  • Treasure Gourd recognizes that Wang Ping regarded her as a worthy opponent. Before dying, she sets aside their religious and personal conflict to urge him, fellow cultivator to fellow cultivator: “Don’t die.”

Significant themes

  • Duty and failure: Treasure Gourd’s devotion to her mission gives her life meaning, but she dies before completing it.
  • Caution and respect between enemies: Wang Ping’s vigilance defeats Treasure Gourd, while his seriousness earns her respect.
  • Fate and thwarted desire: Her final reflection, “Creation played tricks,” anticipates the new scroll’s principle that failed efforts and frustrated wishes can become a resource for future fulfillment.

Ch. 357Earth-Yang Fire Dies, the True Persons Enter the World!

Plot and key events

  • Wang Ping considers the Peace Scripture’s limits: opening another blank scripture scroll will require a rare Heaven-Nurtured Divine Radiance material, so he resolves to conserve what remains.
  • He retrieves the Spirit Treasures left by Treasure Gourd—the Seven Sons Heart-Linked Gourd and Begging-the-World Alms Bowl—along with the Six Directions Eternal-Suppression Cauldron. The Cauldron, upset at having been confined, agrees to refine only one of the two treasures unless Wang Ping releases the Dragon-Elephant it previously subdued.
  • Wang Ping stores the treasures and his armor in the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode, recognizing it as a vital safe haven that can preserve his possessions through a future reincarnation.
  • He questions the Heaven-Stealing Thief about how their plans to extinguish Earth-Yang Fire and restore Human-Yin Earth could proceed despite conflicting with Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person’s design. The Thief explains that the True Person kept them close as possible replacements for Wang Ping, though he himself does not know the full plan. He insists that Human-Yin Earth’s return is virtually inevitable.
  • Earth-Yang Fire finally dies as Kunlun’s life and powers burn away. Before passing, Kunlun tells Wang Ping that his presumed-dead senior brother may still be alive and asks Wang Ping to pass along his congratulations for attaining Qi Refinement. Kunlun declares that he too has proven his Dao, then dies peacefully.
  • With the fire extinguished, the sky splits and figures appear above the mortal world: the True Persons are entering. The Heaven-Stealing Thief tells Wang Ping to leave, and Wang Ping steps out to face what comes next.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping is increasingly cautious and strategic. He treats the cave abode as insurance against upheaval and probes the Heaven-Stealing Thief for the hidden logic behind the True Person’s plans.
  • The Heaven-Stealing Thief drops some of his casual superiority, acknowledging Wang Ping’s strength while remaining guarded. He reveals that he and his allies may have been positioned as contingencies, but claims limited knowledge of the True Person’s intentions.
  • Kunlun meets death with dignity and hard-won pride. His farewell to Wang Ping combines concern, regret over not seeing his senior brother again, and a final claim that he has achieved his own Dao.
  • The Treasure Cauldron shows a petlike attachment to Wang Ping, but also wounded pride and a strong desire to reclaim its status as suppressor.

Significant themes

  • Power and contingency: Even a True Person’s elaborate scheme may rely on backups, with Wang Ping and the Heaven-Stealing Thief positioned as pieces in a larger design.
  • Mortality and achievement: Kunlun’s death underscores the cost of his long life and the personal meaning of proving one’s Dao.
  • Preparation for upheaval: Wang Ping’s protected storehouse reflects the need to preserve resources when survival may require reincarnation.
  • A transition of eras: Earth-Yang Fire’s extinction marks the end of one order and the arrival of the True Persons.

Ch. 358Water-Hidden Escape, the Curtain Rises!

Key plot points and events

  • Wang Ping leaves the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode carrying only his two spirit treasures, since the abode rejects them once he is outside.
  • Treasure Gourd’s Great Vow Golden Body finally breaks apart after her death, releasing Immortal Talisman and eight Inner Sect Disciples. Her Secret-Trace Vajra Pestle returns to the Brahma Kingdom.
  • The pestle’s departure tears away the veil concealing the Sword-Dueling Battlefield. Water Qi True Lord withdraws his influence, and most people across the Immortal Sect lose their memories of him; only the highest-ranking beings retain them.
  • Wang Ping seals away the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode, expecting this to restore the balance disrupted by Treasure Gourd’s death. Instead, the Heaven-Solemn Time-Killing Edict links the Northern Crimson-Net Golden Pure Land to Tianshuang Grotto, anchoring the grotto and preventing it from withdrawing.
  • Wang Ping realizes that the Immortal Sect’s True Persons have arranged this intervention, likely trading access to Tianshuang Grotto for Victory Bliss Arhat’s support. Destroying the Pure Land would not solve the problem: the deaths of its inhabitants would make Tianshuang Grotto manifest anyway.
  • With Wang Ping seemingly trapped between two bad outcomes, Immortal Talisman offers to act. He reminds Wang Ping of their agreement, prompting Wang Ping to realize that the hidden Water Qi True Lord may have prepared a coordinated move through both of them. The chapter ends just as events suddenly shift.

Character developments and interactions

  • Wang Ping remains determined to settle the conflict rather than retreat. He quickly analyzes the True Persons’ strategy but finds himself unable to break the trap, and he grows furious at what he sees as their betrayal of the Immortal Sect.
  • Immortal Talisman, newly freed from Treasure Gourd’s golden body, stands with Wang Ping and offers to take action. His reminder of their agreement helps Wang Ping recognize a possible hidden plan.
  • Water Qi True Lord withdraws from view, but Wang Ping suspects his apparent retreat was deliberate and that he has arranged contingencies through Wang Ping and Immortal Talisman.
  • The Immortal Sect’s True Persons and Victory Bliss Arhat cooperate behind the scenes, using the Heavenly-Yin Metal treasure to keep Tianshuang Grotto anchored and constrain Wang Ping.

Significant themes

  • Hidden power and concealment: The True Lord’s withdrawal erases his presence from most memories, preserving the cosmic order around “Water Qi escaping into concealment.”
  • Schemes within schemes: A seemingly settled outcome proves to be another stage of a larger plan, and Wang Ping begins to suspect that even the True Lord’s retreat was calculated.
  • Institutional betrayal: Wang Ping condemns the Immortal Sect’s leaders for allegedly sacrificing its interests to secure Brahma Kingdom cooperation.
  • No easy escape: Every apparent solution carries a worse consequence, leaving Wang Ping to rely on alliances and preparations he may not yet fully understand.

Ch. 359Three Provinces in Upheaval, the Earth Overturned; Four Seas Run Clear, the Heavens Hung Upside Down!

Key plot points and events

  • Immortal Talisman reveals that his human reincarnation was arranged by the True Persons of the Immortal Formula Institute to advance the plan of returning Human-Yang Wood to the cosmic order. He had accepted, hoping to gain merit and the chance to pursue True Cultivation, but his reincarnation has changed his perspective.
  • A sealed Spirit Treasure—the Heavenly Flood Profound Dao Umbrella—awakens within Immortal Talisman and spreads over the Eight Trigrams Furnace. Though the True Persons recognize it, they cannot intervene directly inside the Furnace.
  • The umbrella’s Earthly-Yang Water manifestation merges with the Heavenly-Yin Metal manifestation of the Heaven-Solemn Time-Killing Edict. Because Water Authority is in effect, the water overwhelms and consumes the metal, weakening the Edict and preventing it from drawing Tianshuang Grotto into the world.
  • The last trace of Heavenly-Yin Metal falls to Wang Ping, who holds a jade pendant containing more of it. He realizes that using the metal to strengthen Water Authority could stop Tianshuang Grotto’s arrival—but doing so would require him to abandon his Great Rebellion identity and destroy the Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram.
  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person offers a final compromise: Wang Ping can cast off Great Rebellion and move the metal into the Heavenly Craft Cave Abode, but must preserve the Diagram. Wang Ping recognizes the offer as both a threat and an attempt to protect the True Person’s larger plan.
  • Remembering Kunlun’s sacrifice and what Great Rebellion represents, Wang Ping rejects compromise. He declares that the path he chooses is right to him, even if others call it wrong.

Character developments

  • Immortal Talisman shifts from accepting his assigned role for the promise of advancement to acting as the hidden great one’s counter-piece against the True Persons.
  • Wang Ping demonstrates sharp insight into the conflict’s mechanics and refuses a seemingly practical bargain. His decision is driven less by personal advantage than by loyalty to Kunlun’s sacrifice and the cause of Great Rebellion.
  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person reveals the limits of his willingness to yield: he will negotiate, but only if the Earth-Bearing Myriad Gods Diagram survives.

Significant themes

  • Agency versus destiny: Wang Ping insists that his chosen path—not others’ judgment—defines what is right for him.
  • Power and manipulation: Both the True Persons and the hidden great one use people as pieces in a larger contest.
  • Sacrifice and conviction: Kunlun’s death gives Wang Ping’s choice moral weight, turning compromise into a betrayal of a cause.
  • The cost of resistance: Rejecting the deal may invite retaliation, but accepting it would preserve the True Persons’ designs.

Character interactions

  • Immortal Talisman’s actions pit the hidden great one’s plans against those of the True Persons.
  • The True Persons watch helplessly as the umbrella disrupts their plan, then focus their attention on Wang Ping.
  • Light-Holding Cinnabar Sun True Person pressures Wang Ping through a warning and a final offer; Wang Ping answers by rejecting the premise that the True Person can define his path.

Ch. 360Bonus Story: Lian Ruzhao

Plot points and events

  • In 860, young Lian Ruzhao lives at Peaceful Martial Academy with thirteen senior brothers. When former bandit Old Saber arrives intending to take over the academy—and later abduct her—the brothers ambush his gang. Ruzhao reveals she is far more powerful than her childlike appearance suggests, knocking Old Saber unconscious with one punch. The academy’s apparent success comes from the extraordinary martial arts she has developed for herself and her brothers.
  • As a twelve-year-old escorting a shipment through Shu, Ruzhao follows her intuition and delays her return by drinking. When she reaches Suwo County days later, she finds the town devastated by a Blood Banner Sect Transcendent. Her senior brothers and many neighbors, including Uncle Liu, are dead or missing.
  • Ruzhao meets Monk Longshu, who explains that the killer was a powerful cultivator beyond the reach of ordinary martial artists. Determined to avenge her family and protect others, Ruzhao joins Dragon God Temple to learn more, though she reveals that her martial arts—among them the Thirteen Guardians’ Iron-Body Qigong and Martial God Illustrated Manual—are her own creations.
  • Over the next thirty years, Ruzhao studies and combines teachings from several traditions, becoming a peerless martial artist. She kills a Blood Banner Sect Loose Immortal but learns that the sect’s ancestor, the Bloodsea Devil Lord, is stronger.
  • Ruzhao ultimately challenges the sect alone, despite her companions’ pleas. In a tremendous battle, she defeats the Devil Lord, destroys the Blood Banner Sect, and unveils a new stage of martial cultivation: Manifesting Divine Transcendence, “Before the True Martial Seat.” Gravely wounded, she returns with proof of the sect’s teachings but refuses to cultivate immortality, insisting that her chosen path is the Martial Dao.

Character development and interactions

  • Lian Ruzhao grows from a cheerful, resourceful child into a disciplined, fiercely determined master. Her early kindness to neighbors and affection for her academy family remain central, but their deaths turn her talent toward vengeance and protection. She refuses both fear and the easy alternative of immortality, defining herself by the path she chooses.
  • Monk Longshu begins as a guide who explains the gulf between martial artists and Transcendents. Over decades, he becomes Ruzhao’s close friend and mentor, admires her achievements, and worries deeply about her willingness to risk her life.
  • Ruzhao’s senior brothers first appear as a formidable team whose skills she helped shape. Their comic, affectionate camaraderie contrasts with the tragedy of their deaths.
  • The four Grandmasters—Longshu, Daoist Tianxin, the tomb guardian, and the Prince of Linjiang—respect Ruzhao as their true senior and try unsuccessfully to dissuade her from confronting the Bloodsea Devil Lord. They later witness her breakthrough.
  • The Chen Household boy, whom Longshu brings to Ruzhao as a student, admires her and vows to avenge his parents. Ruzhao accepts him and encourages him to work hard.

Significant themes

  • Chosen conviction: Ruzhao rejects immortality because she believes it would betray her commitment to the Martial Dao.
  • Limits and transformation: The story contrasts martial skill with supernatural power, then shows Ruzhao breaking that hierarchy through perseverance and overwhelming mastery.
  • Grief turned into purpose: The massacre devastates Ruzhao, but her anger becomes a lifelong resolve to stop the forces that prey on ordinary people.
  • Community and legacy: Her bonds with her brothers, neighbors, mentors, and student give her strength—and her fight aims to protect future generations.
  • Individuality and self-made paths: Ruzhao’s greatest teachings are not inherited; she creates them herself and ultimately opens a new path for martial artists.
