"What?" Hu Ya sprang to her feet, her eyes blazing.

"We've questioned more than a dozen people, and they all told the same story. The Temple didn't kill him! He vanished into thin air after the Earthfall Beasts wiped out Tiger."

Changye stepped gracefully out of the darkness.

Hope lit Hu Ya's eyes. "The more complicated things get, the more he's in his element. Until we have definite news that he's dead, we don't need to worry about him!"

"Exactly! Even if his signal has disappeared completely, we have to believe he's alive and well!" A radiant smile spread across Changye's face.

Xin Yue looked from one to the other. "Hey, something's wrong with this picture. You two are love rivals! Shouldn't you be fighting until your heads are bloody? Why are you agreeing with each other?"

Blue Demon and the Bloodmark Heavenly King emerged side by side. Hearing Xin Yue's words, they wore expressions neither could quite name.

Outside, the night sky stretched away into unfathomable depths.

The two Heavenly Kings stepped out of the secret chamber and gazed toward the valley beyond...

"We didn't catch a single high-ranking member of the Temple," Blue Demon said. "I have a bad feeling."

"You think they're preparing that trump card?" Bloodmark asked.

"Yes. They faced a fatal blow, yet the Earthfall Beast Army never appeared. That doesn't sit right with me."

At those words, everyone's expression changed...

Suddenly, a short figure appeared before them. "Report! We found something in the secret chamber!"

"What?"

"The flute master who controlled the Earthfall Beasts is dead in the secret chamber. His head was severed!"

"Let's see!"

Whoosh! All five vanished at once.

Half a quarter of an hour later, they passed through layer upon layer of labyrinthine passages and reached the chamber.
