"Missu, how much farther is it to Qingqiu Kingdom?" Hu Bugui suddenly asked.
"Not much farther. Our Qingqiu Fox Clan is quite large, and our territory has continued expanding over the years. Once we pass that mountain hollow ahead, we'll see a village," Misu said, pointing ahead.
Hu Bugui nodded and looked into the distance.
Before long, the three of them rounded the mountain hollow and saw the small village from afar.
It looked much like a Human Race village, except the Fox Clan's homes were mostly round, semi-underground structures, with log walls and roofs covered in planks and thatch.
Another difference was that nearly every Fox Clan house had two or three doors built on different sides.
Seeing this, Misu was about to dash toward the village when Shen Luo reached out and stopped her.
"Wait. Something is wrong."
It was dusk, when every household should have been preparing dinner, yet the village was deathly silent. Not a wisp of cooking smoke rose into the air. It looked as though no one lived there at all.
Shen Luo immediately released his Divine Sense to investigate. Sure enough, there was no one inside.
"How could this be?" Misu asked in alarm.
"Let's take a look." Shen Luo spoke as he took the lead.
Misu followed closely behind him, while Hu Bugui naturally guarded the rear.
Yet after the three inspected the village, they found everything clean and orderly. The houses showed no signs of damage, nor were there any traces of fighting anywhere.
"It seems these villagers evacuated in an orderly fashion rather than being attacked." Hu Bugui pointed at several crisscrossing wheel tracks that extended toward the other end of the village.
"It looks like Qingqiu Kingdom sensed the danger as well and evacuated all the villagers in advance."
