It was afternoon, and the weather was clear. The sea was calm.

"My lord, what do we do now?"

"Move the supplies off the ship. Let's see how much we have," Romon said. In fact, he had already moved some supplies from his space into the hold. Lusenpei was a guard, not a sailor, so he did not know exactly what supplies the ship carried.

"Yes, my lord!" Lusenpei replied.

The refugees were sleeping soundly on the deck and would not wake anytime soon.

But the ship had run aground, and there were several places where they could get down to the beach without crossing the deck where the refugees lay.

The two began searching.

They found a rope at the rear of the deck and lowered it over the stern, its end hanging close to the water. Romon grabbed it and slid down to the beach with ease.

Before long, Lusenpei appeared at the stern.

He was a warrior somewhere between third and fourth level. Carrying two wooden barrels, he said delightedly, "My lord, it's fruit wine! I'll lower them down."

"Drop them. I can catch them!" Romon said. Though he was a Druid, he could manage something this simple.

"Yes, my lord!" The two barrels dropped, and Romon caught each one cleanly before setting them farther up the beach. Two more followed. On the third trip, Lusenpei carried a barrel in each hand along with a sack of flour.

The flour sack might not hold up so well.
