This city was called Sunreturn City. The name was a little strange, and there were even more legends surrounding it.
While on the carriage, Romon had heard the driver mention that the city had a history of a thousand years. It had been rebuilt countless times and had once been reduced to ruins amid the flames of war, yet the city's spirit and name had endured as new cities continuously rose.
It was said that, in the earliest days, a demigod had descended here and slain great numbers of demons outside the city at sunset. That was how the city came to be called Sunreturn, perhaps as an expression of reverence for the gods.
After hearing that, Romon had found it amusing. How was it that everywhere he went, there were such stories of places named in remembrance of someone?
Even this world could not escape such conventions. Yet now that he saw the city with his own eyes, he was immediately drawn to it.
It was not that the city was particularly grand. No matter how grand it was, could it surpass the Royal Capital Romon had seen?
Could it surpass the great cities he had seen on Earth?
What truly caught Romon's eye was that the city's architectural style was one he had rarely encountered before.
The city gates were tall, and its walls stretched out to either side beyond the limits of sight. Yet those were secondary. Most importantly, the walls and gate towers had been built from a white, limpid stone that gleamed with exquisite beauty beneath the sunlight. The gates themselves were made of the same white material. Standing some distance away, Romon raised his head and stared blankly at the city for a while before finally striding toward the gates.
