This translucent mass of aura continuously gathered toward Lightning, the great eagle at its center.
An eagle's transformation always took place beneath the blue sky. Success meant spreading its wings and soaring high; failure meant falling to the earth and becoming mud.
They could not, and would never, descend to the ground at such a majestic moment.
For that very reason, every transformation was like fighting the blue sky, resisting themselves, and gambling against fate.
Resounding eagle cries began to ring out continuously through the air, carrying pride and joy, but also a trace of restrained pain.
Much like human professionals, every transformation of a magical pet was accompanied by pain akin to shedding its mortal frame and exchanging its bones.
Eagles, creatures proud by nature, were even more so. The pain and risks they had to endure were far greater than those of ordinary magical pets. Yet likewise, after every transformation, they would be far stronger than magical pets of the same level.
