Mist Plane, Hangel City
A secret chamber in the city's Main Temple
Mist filled the room, making its true size impossible to judge and giving it a sense of boundless emptiness.
At the center of the room stood a clear patch untouched by the mist. An altar gleamed with holy light, and behind it stood a statue of a goddess, its surface likewise dotted with holy light.
A priest named Karl arrived under orders. His footsteps were light, yet their echoes remained clear. He entered and found seven priests already kneeling before the statue.
Karl bowed in greeting.
He bowed to an old man with a calm expression. His name was Tekas, and he was the bishop of both this city and the entire Church.
Bishop Tekas swept his gaze over them and said directly, "You are all senior members of the Church. Today, our deity, the goddess Xifilan, will deliver a divine oracle."
Everyone had already heard the news, but hearing it from the bishop still filled each of them with excitement.
"As we all know, three hundred years ago, our lady fought the evil god Yenika and emerged victorious. For various reasons, however, our lady was unable to pursue him. Now, the time is ripe."
Bishop Tekas paused, then raised his voice. "Now everything will change. Our goddess will utterly destroy the evil god Yenika and spread her glory into his territory, bathing its people in her radiance."
"Now, let us reverently welcome the divine oracle!" Bishop Tekas led all the priests to their knees, speaking softly in a voice filled with reverence.
No sooner had he finished than sacred white light began to shine from the altar before them.
Holy light appeared on the statue, and soon a white pillar of light shone down from the ceiling.
