"May I ask how much farther it is to the reception hall?" The road they had taken had truly been rather long. While committing the route to memory, the lead Elf finally could not hold back and asked.
"Oh, it's just ahead. His Majesty the King and several regents are all waiting there."
Hearing that answer, the Elves exchanged glances. From those few words alone, they could already tell that this meeting with the King of the Tongkdan Kingdom would not be easy.
However, if handled properly, they might still be able to make this happen.
At the very least, the fact that the other side was willing to see them so quickly, and together with several regents, showed just how seriously they took this matter. So long as they could persuade these people, it could be done.
"Mm, understood." Nodding, the lead Elven envoy said nothing more.
The other five Elven envoys clearly followed his lead. Seeing that he had stopped speaking, they too chose to remain silent.
A few minutes later, they arrived inside a grand hall. In the reception hall to the right, the King of the Tongkdan Kingdom and his regents were waiting to receive them.
The Tongkdan Kingdom's strength was now far inferior to what it had once been. If, during the reigns of the previous several kings, the Tongkdan Kingdom had still been a middling kingdom on the continent, then it had now fallen into a small kingdom teetering on the brink of collapse.
Though the current king could not be called foolish, his talents were mediocre. He was a fine ruler for guarding a nation, but not a great sovereign fit to forge an empire.
Regarding the Elves, the king himself leaned toward peace talks, and the several ministers shared the same view.
