Qian Wei nodded lightly. Ye Tong gathered her skirts in a slight bow, then turned and headed for the kitchen again. Though he had not spoken much with her, she seemed quite well-mannered.
For someone her age to have such upbringing was no easy thing.
"Madam is considerate of me."
The dishes at last night's banquet had been good, but his heart had not been there. After returning, he had tossed and turned deep into the night, only falling into a hazy sleep near dawn.

"Mother, why have you come today?" Qian Wei asked in considerable surprise.

"Mother, why would you say such a thing? I am perfectly safe."
Wang began wiping away tears.
"Mother, what is wrong?"
"You will not even tell your mother the truth. Have you truly caused some heaven-shattering calamity?" Old Madam Wang asked through her tears.
"Where did that come from?"
"If nothing has happened to you, then how would the village head in the county dare survey our family's fields?"
Survey the fields? What was that? So it was merely this trivial matter.
"I thought it was something serious. It is only a land survey..." Qian Wei could not help laughing. "I
