No sooner had it emerged from the residence than a flash of lightning suddenly tore through the pitch-black sky. With a rumbling boom, a thunderclap shook the air.
Even Great Demons were mostly wary of thunder.
If it were not unsuitable to linger here, the Heavenly Secret Monster would hardly have wished to go out amid such rolling thunder.
But circumstances left it no choice but to inconvenience itself.
Riding out in an ox-cart, it lifted the curtain and looked at the fine rain already drifting down outside. Deep disgust flashed through the eyes left uncovered by its mask.
"This kind of rainy weather is truly hateful. Everything is soaked through with rainwater. Tsk!" Its hatred of water was a strange feeling that had suddenly welled up within it.
Before this, as a Great Demon, the Heavenly Secret Monster had merely disliked and feared thunder. Yet that was the instinct of many Monsters; even upon becoming a Great Demon, it was difficult to escape.
But the Heavenly Secret Monster had never disliked water before. It had even liked it greatly. This change was baffling. At the very least, the Monster temporarily serving as the driver found it very strange upon hearing this.
This strangeness differed from the nervous unease it had felt upon being ordered to evacuate quickly. It carried a faint sense of discord, making it unable to help but want to ask a question.
