Duke of Dai's Residence
Beneath the moonlight, it seemed deep and secluded. Back in the Former Wei, it had been adjusted by a great feng shui master. Emerald waters had formed a pool, artificial hills rose in layered ridges, and threads of air currents circled back and forth, creating a layout beneficial to body and mind.
When Luo Jiang moved into Duke of Dai's Residence, she had expected its rules to be strict. Yet after a period of minor bumps in daily life, she gradually adapted to the new environment. Aside from the occasional reminder to mind her etiquette, she was granted the greatest freedom in all else.
Luo Jiang had the habit of strolling through the various courtyards after nightfall, using it as a way to familiarize herself with Duke of Dai's Residence. After half a month, everyone had grown accustomed to this method of helping her digestion and turned a blind eye to it.
This time was no exception. Luo Jiang came from several of the front courtyards and happened to reach the entrance to the inner courtyard.
She had been at the residence for some time. Though she could not yet be considered an old hand of the Duke's Residence, she had been assigned some work. Moreover, she was delicate and lovely in appearance, so her relationship with the residence guards was fairly good.
Seeing two residence guards patrolling at the entrance, she walked over and asked a few questions in a low voice. Since she did not ask about the Duke, the guards answered casually.
As she spoke, Luo Jiang's gaze swept over the inner courtyard. Other than the two men guarding the gate, there was no one inside, and many rooms had already gone dark. She understood at once.
As she turned to leave, the
