Daoist Temple
Su Ziji left the quiet chamber and arrived outside the Daoist Canon Pavilion.
A few distant houses had lost roof tiles, but the overall damage was not severe, and no one had been hurt. Su Ziji could still feel the ground trembling faintly beneath his feet. Some Daoists lay sprawled in the distance, evidently thrown to the ground by the quake.
Just as Su Ziji was about to go over, the ground gave another slight shudder.
"Your Highness, be careful!" someone said, reaching out to support him.
Su Ziji instinctively dodged aside. Seeing that it was Liu Zhan, he shook his head. "I'm fine. Is the True Person all right?"
Liu Zhan was naturally unharmed as well. The Daoist Canon Pavilion had an array in place, was not very large, and lay far from the worst-hit area. So no one else had been injured either; they had merely been badly frightened.
Su Ziji frowned as he gazed at the mushroom cloud rising in the distance. He was not the only one—everyone else was looking that way too, their expressions a sight to behold.
"What on earth was this?" Almost everyone was thinking the same thing.
After something like this happened, let alone ordinary people, even a True Person like Liu Zhan found it utterly inconceivable.
The cloud looked like a mushroom, black vapor shooting into the heavens. It looked ominous at a glance, yet the place where it had erupted was the Capital City!
The Capital City was impervious to all arts. Even Great Demons of the Demon Race could not easily enter it. Since the dynasty's founding, only Zhou Xuan had infiltrated the Capital City and still been able to use demonic arts. Even if other Great Demons managed to force their way in, which one of
