Night fell.

Inside the Lonely Soul Ridge outpost.

Hu Donghan sat cross-legged in meditation inside a small resting hut, quietly making calculations in his heart.

Lonely Soul Ridge is becoming more and more dangerous for me. It is no longer suitable for me to remain here. I'll spend one more day here tomorrow searching for Ghost Wraiths. If I still find none, I can only leave Lonely Soul Ridge for now and hunt ghosts elsewhere.

Only after making all his preparations did Hu Donghan swiftly head toward the Yin Soul. When he came within roughly ten meters, Hu Donghan swept his hand forward, and the held Spirit Force Bolt suddenly shot out, blasting toward the Yin Soul at tremendous speed.

Just as Hu Donghan thought the Spirit Force Bolt would directly blast the Yin Soul apart, something unexpected happened—

The Yin Soul that was about to be struck actually reacted at the last instant, lightly swerving to the side and drifting away from half of the attack!

Though the Spirit Force Bolt ultimately struck the Yin Soul, it did not blast it to death as Hu Donghan had expected. Instead, it merely blew away half of the Yin Soul's Soul Body.

After half of its Soul Body was blasted away, the Yin Soul first let out a shrill howl. Then, around three quarters of the Yin energy that had not been particularly dense to begin with was drawn from its body, forming a green ghostfire shield before it.

The moment Hu Donghan saw this, his pupils contracted. He inwardly cursed, Not good, and quickly retreated. After being struck earlier, the Yin Soul had now fixed its sights on Hu Donghan and directly pursued him. This Yin Soul was much faster than ordinary Yin Souls. The distance between it and Hu Donghan rapidly shortened.

Damn it! I actually encountered one of those legendary Special Yin Souls! Its gathered Yin energy has a sensing range of ten meters, and it can even use spells. I really don't know whether my luck is good or bad. Defeating a Special Yin Soul won't be easy. However, after killing one, there is a fifty-percent chance that a Ghost Wraith will form. Though Hu Donghan was now in danger, he was not overly flustered. Based on the Yin Soul's earlier actions, he had already inferred some basic information about it.

For example, this Yin Soul's sensing range should be around ten meters. The reason it had been able to evade the Spirit Force Bolt earlier was likely because it sensed Hu Donghan's presence within ten meters and became wary in time. If he had been farther away, this Yin Soul might not have been able to dodge that Spirit Force Bolt.

Judging from the shield this Special Yin Soul has cast, it should be one with relatively strong defensive power. A Yin Soul with somewhat stronger defense is always easier to deal with than one possessing offensive spells. Moreover, after using this shield spell, a great deal of its Yin energy has dissipated. It probably does not have the ability to cast a second defensive spell. As long as I can break this Yin Soul's ghostfire shield, I still have a good chance of killing this Special Yin Soul!

And even if I can't defeat it, it won't be too difficult to evade a Yin Soul whose killing power isn't particularly strong. If I ride the bone horse, escaping shouldn't be a problem. As he pondered, Hu Donghan condensed a Spirit Force Bolt in his hand. With a casual wave, he fired it at the Yin Soul's exposed Soul Body. However, the Special Yin Soul's senses were powerful. The instant it sensed the Spirit Force Bolt appear, it moved its ghostfire shield to block it. In the end, Hu Donghan's Spirit Force Bolt still struck the ghostfire shield.

When the ghostfire shield was hit, some of the ghostfire on it instantly exploded and burned away. Looking again afterward, its ghostfire had become slightly paler, though not noticeably so.

Hu Donghan swept his gaze across the ghostfire shield, his face darkening—the ghostfire shield's defensive power was not weak. His remaining three Spirit Force Bolts might not be enough to break it!
