Pepper spotted Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes in uniform, and her anxiety vanished.
"Thank you," Pepper said.
Li Ao gave her an odd look.
"What?" Pepper asked.
"Don't tell me you're planning to pay the fare with a 'thank you.' I run a small business. I can't afford that."
Pepper froze in embarrassment.
James walked over. His eyes went first to Pepper. Once he saw she was unharmed, he turned to Li Ao.

"Where did you learn to drive like that, Mr. Leo?"
On the helicopter ride over, Colonel Rhodes had watched several clips of Li Ao charging through traffic in his taxi. More than once, Rhodes had been sure the car would crash and kill everyone inside, only for Li Ao to maneuver out of danger by a hair.
That wasn't driving. Give the car wings and it would take flight.
