Daggers, wooden stakes, wire saws... Luke and Megan stared as Geralt strapped one weapon after another onto himself.
When Geralt started stuffing fragmentation grenades into his waist pouch, Luke finally spoke up. "Isn't a grenade a bit much?"
"These are Ultraviolet Fragmentation Grenades. They're especially effective against evil creatures that fear sunlight, like vampires." Geralt packed three grenades in one after another. "Honestly, I hope I won't have to use these little beauties. If I do, things will have gone very badly."
Geralt had a feeling this wouldn't end with an investigation.
And that uncertainty excited him a little.
At heart, Geralt loved adventure. His previous life had simply worn the edges off him. How quickly he had taken to being a Demon Hunter—and how much he enjoyed it—was proof enough.
"Let's go say hello to the Weird Monster in the house." Geralt picked up his bag with one hand and patted his Demon Hunter Gun with the other. "A hello at 758.95 meters per second. Hope they like it."
Luke: "..."
"Nice decor," Geralt said.
It just wasn't his taste.
Brown hardwood dominated the interior, along with antique furniture and ornaments that gave the place a weighty sense of history.
Most young people would probably just call it old-fashioned.
"Thanks," Megan said with a smile. Her grandfather had chosen the decor and furniture and put a lot of thought into both. As it happened, she shared his tastes.
The thought that she had considered selling the house made Megan feel even guiltier.
Through Spirit Sight, Geralt saw black mist, almost solid, pouring from upstairs and the basement entrance.
A normal person who spent a week in a place like this would either go mad or die. Anyone who did neither was anything but normal.
"What a pain."
Geralt scratched
