Dreams in Unconsciousness
"It has already been three days. What exactly is wrong with him? Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Ding Meng worried at the side. After all, she had not had an easy time these past three days either.
Lin Yu was still trapped in that world of mist. He had long since stopped, and at this moment, he finally understood completely: the mist was merely a deception. As for what was hidden within it, Jin Yu had yet to figure it out.
Blood energy darted through the mist. Jin Yu's tightly shut eyes suddenly flew open as he thought, That blood energy... why does it feel so familiar? It seems like I've seen it somewhere before. He did not remember ever emitting such blood energy from within his own body.
Lin Yu stepped forward. In this space, he could clearly sense that his body's speed had increased by who knew how many times. It was as though something had come specifically to receive him. His speed was like flight, and afterward, what he saw were seven streams of blood energy.
"There isn't just one? Then what were those from earlier?" Jin Yu looked at the blood energy before him. It carried a powerful aura, and even within the mist, it was difficult to catch their traces.
"What are you? And what kind of place is this?" If Lin Yu truly knew what this place was, he would not have needed to ask such questions.
"What? You're saying this is a dream, born from my dream? What kind of joke is that? And why would my dream have such dense, endless mist?" Upon hearing Lin Yu's words, the Blood Orders rang out in resonance, telling him what this place truly was. Lin Yu could even clearly understand the meaning behind their words.
"Strange. How can I understand what you're saying?" Lin Yu asked again, but the Blood Orders gave no response at all. This seemed to be a secret that could not be spoken.
Doubt began to fill Lin Yu's heart. If this truly was a dream, why did all those sensations feel so real? But if it was not a dream, then what exactly was this place where he stood?
He grew more and more confused. What exactly had happened during his battle with that python? He only vaguely remembered that, at the instant he lost consciousness, the wounds on his body had completely healed. As for the python, it had died there as well.
"You're saying that this place is my body, and I am merely a soul within it. It was only because I fought the python back then and touched upon this place that I came here." At that moment, the Blood Orders nodded as well. Lin Yu narrowed his eyes, waved a hand, and refused to think about such complicated matters any longer.
"I'm asking you, how do I get out of here?" Since the Blood Orders were the masters of this place, they surely had to know how to leave it. Otherwise, Lin Yu feared he would be trapped here for the rest of his life.
Yet strangely enough, even the Blood Orders did not know how to leave this place. They had existed here longer than Lin Yu had been alive, yet they still did not know how to get out. Even their awakening had only happened not long ago.
"Are you trying to anger me to death? Then tell me, what exactly is in this place?" Layer upon layer of mist seemed to conceal this place's original appearance, burying too many secrets of heaven—untouchable and impossible to guess.
All of a sudden, the seven Blood Orders fused into one. A blood-red figure seemed to stand there, and only then did it speak to Lin Yu. "Descendant of the Lin Family, what this place contains is what you see before you. The only difference is that the remnants of the souls of humans, beasts, and demons you slay will all appear here."
Hearing this, Lin Yu furrowed his brow. Why would the remnants of those people's souls appear in this place?
"Why?" Though Lin Yu felt somewhat helpless, he still asked. After all, this matter concerned his future.
At that moment, Lin Yu took a deep breath. Only after a long while did the blood energy speak. "Do you understand karma?" Lin Yu narrowed his eyes again.
"Every cause has its effect, and every effect has its cause. Whatever one does, one must bear the corresponding responsibility. If the remnants of those people's souls can come to this place, then if I am slain, where will I go? Give me a reason. What is karma, and how is karma resolved?" Hearing Lin Yu's words, the Blood Orders could only feel helpless. From the shadows came a murmur: "He really has not changed."
"Why are you so agitated? Did I ever say this place was meant to help them? When they flee here, it becomes a prison—an endless prison. Here, the Blood Pursuit Orders will refine them, and in turn become even more powerful Blood Commands."
The blood-red figure spoke again, refuting Lin Yu's words. Lin Yu no longer said anything. He finally understood completely.
"Since they have become souls of the dead, there must be karma. Only here can a strand of karma be completely settled." The blood-red figure's words made Lin Yu nod. Since there were Blood Orders here, there was nothing for him to worry about.
Even so, he still believed it was only a dream. Once the dream ended, nothing would remain.
"This Blood Command, named Blood Pursuit Order, is a Natal Dharma Artifact, one that can be counted among the finest in the world where you currently reside. A Natal Spirit Artifact will grow along with its master. As for what heights it may ultimately reach, that depends on fate."
Lin Yu still did not quite understand. No matter how little he knew about Spirit Artifacts, he knew that the highest-grade Spirit Artifact was only a soul artifact. Yet he had truly never heard of a Natal Spirit Artifact.
This only made him more certain that everything before him was merely a dream. Once he woke up, none of it would have happened.
"I know you have doubts in your heart. Unfortunately, I am too weak to answer them for you. I will explain next time." In that instant, blood energy burst forth, and everything around them seemed to be collapsing.
Outside, Lin Yu coughed twice, startling awake Ding Meng, who had just fallen asleep. He kept calling out, "Water, water, water." Without another word, Ding Meng brought him water. Lin Yu took a sip, recovered some strength, and opened his eyes.
Everything before his eyes had changed. After a long while, Lin Yu finally asked, "Where is that python?"
"Outside. No, can't you show a little concern for me? I looked after you for three days and three nights."
Lin Yu did not even hear Ding Meng's words. He rushed straight outside. In three days, who knew how much of the python's essence blood had dissipated? Lin Yu said nothing and directly pried open the python's head. A crystalline object appeared in his hand.
That was a Magic Core. Though Magic Beasts existed in this world, only a very small number of them possessed Magic Cores. It could only be said that Lin Yu's luck was quite good. A roar shattered the excitement in his heart, and he hurriedly put away the python's corpse as well.
