Ancient Emperor's Fury
"Let me think, let me think... You seem to be the fifth wave already. Since you're not afraid of death, then come." Lin Yu held a sword in his hand. Too much blood had stained this blade today; perhaps it could no longer be washed clean.
The four narrowed their eyes and glared at him. None of them had expected Lin Yu to be this strong. The people before them had failed to harm him in the slightest. If word got out, the world would surely believe that Lin Yu possessed some supreme treasure.
"Hmph. So what if you have a sword in your hand? What about him?" Liu Cun stood there, not taking Nu Sheng seriously at all, regarding him as nothing more than an ordinary mortal.
Nu Sheng knew Liu Cun had cast a glance his way, and he continued, "Use your pig brains and think. Among the household slaves serving in a great general's residence, whose hands are free of blood?" Lin Yu smiled when he heard this. Nu Sheng's strength was not much different from his, though his combat ability was another matter.
At that very moment, Liu Cun attacked. He was far stronger than Nu Sheng, and upon seeing his attack, Lin Yu said coldly, "Move aside. Hold those three off for a while. I'll play with him." As he spoke, Lin Yu drew another iron sword from his storage ring. Though somewhat ordinary, it sat comfortably in his hand.
"General, I understand." Nu Sheng shot Liu Cun a vicious glare before turning toward the other three.
Lin Yu laughed heartily. "I've told you, I'm no general anymore. You don't need to call me that. You can call me Young Master, or simply call me by my name. Titles mean nothing to me."
As they spoke, the two swords had already sparked with lightning and fire. Hearing this, Liu Cun suddenly felt anger rise within him. What did this mean? It meant Lin Yu did not take him seriously in the slightest.
"You dare to be half-hearted while fighting me? Is that really wise?" As Liu Cun spoke, his hands formed seals. He cast a cold glance at the sword in his hand. It was, after all, a Spirit Artifact. Upon sensing the fluctuations of spiritual power, the sword hovered in midair. Lin Yu narrowed his eyes. He truly had never seen such a technique before. Seeing it for the first time made it rather challenging.
"Senior Brother actually used his ultimate technique, Flying Sword." The three men spoke in awe. This time, they had merely followed Liu Cun out to broaden their horizons. Seeing an opening, Nu Sheng thrust out his sword. One of them suffered a wound across his abdomen. Had he not reacted quickly, he would have already met his end.
Liu Cun's sword had already flown out. Lin Yu used the Nine World-Ending Swords, unraveling each move step by step, and the sight sent a chill through Liu Cun's heart. Lin Yu stood there and shouted furiously, "Break for me!" He could not unleash the nine swords to their utmost limit, but using an unrivaled martial technique to sever an earth-rank Spirit Artifact was not particularly difficult.
The instant the sword broke, blood flowed from Liu Cun's mouth. This sword had long been linked to his bloodline. When the sword broke, the man remained; when the sword broke, the man died. Even now, he had suffered the backlash.
Otherwise, an earth-rank sword would have nearly been wielded to its peak. Lin Yu stood there without a word, breathing heavily. Then two Spirit Stones appeared in his hands. He circulated the Five Poisons True Scripture and rapidly absorbed the spiritual power within the crystals.
Only after the two Spirit Stones had completely turned to dust did Liu Cun come to his senses. This was not someone he could afford to provoke. He cried out, "Impossible! Impossible! How can someone at your mere third rank absorb them so quickly?" Lin Yu stood quietly without saying a word. Whether Liu Cun believed it or not was his business; whether to kill him or not was Lin Yu's decision.
"An earth-rank sword—you don't know what that means. But I know this: I want your life." Lin Yu stopped where he was, preparing to swing his sword down and take Liu Cun's head.
Liu Cun was so terrified that he collapsed onto the ground and hurriedly shuffled backward. He cried, "You... you can't, you can't kill me! I am... I am One Sword's disciple! You can't kill me!" He was truly helpless now, even dragging out his sect. Lin Yu, who knew nothing about such sects, merely swung down his sword. A head flew through the air.
"Ah... Senior Brother! Senior Brother! You will pay the price for what you've done today!" Cheng Kun stood there, feeling that Lin Yu had gone too far.
At this moment, Lin Yu said to Nu Sheng, "Go to the rear first. The time for three against one is over. Now it's one against three." As he spoke, Lin Yu had already swung his sword. His body was strong enough that ordinary weapons could injure him somewhat, but they could not inflict serious wounds.
"A piece of trash only managed to cut through a layer of skin." As he spoke, Lin Yu swung his sword and took the heads of two men.
He quietly walked up to Cheng Kun and said, "Who cares whether I'll pay a price or not? This battle was always either you die or I perish. Killing you is how I keep myself safe." One sword fell, and Cheng Kun's corpse was left exposed in the wilderness.
"Young Master, you really killed them." Nu Sheng truly could hardly believe his own eyes.
"Didn't you see it all? Wait a moment. There's still something left unresolved." A smile appeared on Lin Yu's face as he continued, "Go back and tell your master that he already agreed to my resignation. If he keeps pestering me, I will ascend the court alone and take his head." Lin Yu had made himself perfectly clear. Even Nu Sheng fell silent at the sight.
"Let's go. We'll talk when we get home." As they spoke, the two mounted their tall horses once more.
Inside the imperial city.
"Ancient Emperor, everyone who was sent has died at Lin Yu's hands. He also asked me to bring back a message." The man dressed in black stood there and spoke.
"He discovered you, yet he didn't kill you?" The Ancient Emperor truly could not believe it. Lin Yu possessed such strength, yet he had spared this man. He must have wanted him to return with the message.
"Enough. Speak. What did he say?"
"He said that you already agreed to his resignation. If you keep pestering him, he will ascend the court alone and take your head. Those were his exact words." The man in black had more or less guessed the consequences of delivering those words. Yet, seeing the Ancient Emperor's face turn crimson, he knew he had guessed correctly.
"Get out! Get out of here! What use are you slaves? You can't even take the head of a mere child! What use are any of you?" He was enraged—truly enraged. Seated high in the great hall, looking down upon the court, he had naturally never suffered such humiliation. This man was the first, and he could guarantee that he would be the last.
"Elder Gu, that boy has gone too far. I want to send a ninth-rank cultivator to make him pay for his arrogance." The Ancient Emperor simply did not possess the authority to mobilize those cultivators.
"If that is the case, then go. But this time, think about how to explain things to One Sword first. That old fellow's eldest disciple has been left here. Ancient Imperial City will have to pay a tremendous price this time. I wonder whether my decision back then was right." Elder Gu's voice drifted from the void.
PS: I was roasted under the sun for two and a half days during the school sports meet. When I returned to the dormitory at noon to rest, I got stuck and couldn't write anything at all. I took a nap and overslept again. The update is late; please forgive me.
