The Road of the Heart

Four days later, in the underground cavern.

Lulu lay beside Er Dongsheng's bed, her eyes red as she gazed at him lying motionless.

He had regained his usual appearance. His shattered scales had healed completely thanks to his monstrous powers of recovery, but that was only on the surface. Inside, he was in terrible shape.

"Waaah, Brother, Lulu misses you so much!"

The little girl wiped her tears with one hand while using her "light" energy with the other to heal the unconscious Er Dongsheng.

Ever since the Spear of Destruction had carried him back, Er Dongsheng had remained unconscious. Under the system's guidance, most of the chaotic, violent energy inside him had returned to the Fairies' bodies. Receiving it back was like being given a new lease on life. They all recovered, and their abilities even improved.

The Fairies were deeply moved. They assumed Lord Baal had rewarded them after "borrowing" their energy. As for his having drawn it out of them, they thought nothing more of it, believing it was simply one of his special abilities.

Every Fairy had made considerable progress. Though the system had retained most of the Wind King's energy, a little had still passed on to them. To the Fairies, that energy—so high in level and tempered by Destruction—was like a powerful restorative.

The Fairies had found fortune in misfortune. An unexpected blessing, perhaps.

Yet a cloud of worry hung over the cavern. Everyone was anxious, because Lord Baal, the one they all relied on, still showed no sign of waking.
