Background

Er Dongsheng possesses memories from a former human life on Earth and inhabits an Abyss Demon body. Before arriving in the Abyss, he trained under an elderly Daoist-oriented master in internal and external martial arts, alchemy, fist techniques, exorcism, and feng shui. His master refused to serve corrupt officials or wealthy people lacking benevolence, an ethical standard Er Dongsheng remembers with affection 6.

For roughly three years, he survived alone in a forest region of the Abyss. His original demon body had only average innate qualities, so he compensated through disciplined martial training, hunting, experimentation with local plants, and careful resource storage. He became the dominant predator of his local woodland while remaining just short of Level One 2 5.

Er Dongsheng rejected the usual Abyssal path of growth through slaughter and chance evolution. Instead, he pursued the martial path of refining essence, qi, and spirit, though his demon physiology prevented him from using a human-style dantian 5 6.

His former life continues to affect him long after he becomes a ruler. A Wraith exploits memories of his master and senior sister to trap him in an illusion; Er Dongsheng destroys it despite grieving the apparent loss of another chance to see his master. During a later near-fatal cloning ritual, the hope of someday returning to his master and senior sister helps him endure 91 258.

Appearance

Er Dongsheng's body changes substantially as he evolves. Before his Level One breakthrough, he is a relatively small Abyss Demon covered in dusty gray scales; his specially trained tail is distinguished by glossy black scales 5 17.

• After his breakthrough, he grows to over 1.8 meters tall and develops glossy black scales across his body 17 19.

Personality

Er Dongsheng is disciplined, methodical, and intensely self-reliant. He organizes supplies, studies unfamiliar flora and creatures, plans years ahead for droughts, and prefers cultivation methods he can understand and control 7 9.

A martial artist's pride governs much of his behavior. He refuses submission, welcomes dangerous opponents, and treats life-or-death battles as opportunities to test and refine himself. This confidence can become arrogance: he sometimes prolongs fights for enjoyment or underestimates deceptive opponents 14 21 29 30.

Despite increasingly embracing his demonic identity, he retains humor, domestic habits, nostalgia for Earth, and deep loyalty to those he considers family. His bond with Lulu becomes his strongest emotional anchor and a primary reason for resisting the Abyssal Will 16 19 23.

As a ruler, he deliberately uses fear, rewards, and competition to control his forces. He forbids infighting among his elite teams but secretly retains most of the energy their destruction generates. His treatment of enemies and suspected traitors becomes increasingly ruthless, even as he continues to protect close companions and subordinates 149 173 432.

Early Survival and Cultivation

Er Dongsheng survives alone in an Abyss forest, hunts creatures such as Abyss Snakes and Tutu Beasts, stores food and water, and searches for a way to advance beyond Refining Essence into Qi despite his missing dantian 3 11.

Lulu and the First-Level Breakthrough

He rescues Lulu from Velociraptors and decides to adopt her after years of isolation. Protecting her from a First-Level Demon forces him into a life-and-death battle, leading to the conditions for his breakthrough 12 14 17.

Defiance of the Abyssal Will

During his evolution, the Abyssal Will attempts to dominate him. With the System's Plan Three, Lulu's support, Ink Spirit Flame, and his own martial resolve, he traps and devours a fragment of the Will, gaining independent evolution and an unbound Abyss Star 19 23.

Building a Home and Exploring the Wider Abyss

Er Dongsheng trains Lulu, accepts Sibya's service, rebuilds his cultivation system through fusion, and travels alone to the northern trading market to obtain resources and information 26 36 38 40.

Trading Market Conflicts

At the market, he reunites with Xierjie, defeats her and Troll Sula, acquires a Fire Elemental Gem and bronze mirror-like artifact, and openly defies Sakaros, a powerful Second-Level Demon 42 47.

Land of Death and Sakaros's Pursuit

After learning that the Land of Death has resurfaced, Er Dongsheng seeks a faster route to the Second Level. He purchases materials, deliberately lures Sakaros into an isolated volcanic woodland, and begins executing an unknown plan after breaking the Second-Level Demon's force field 49 50.

His exploration takes him into a desperate fight with a giant-eyed monster. Badly injured, he escapes down a deep shaft and reaches an underground lake. Later, a cavern of Flame Gems provides the energy for his Second-Level breakthrough. Returning to the contested battlefield, he cripples Chixiao, knocks down Sakaros, and claims the Azure-Gold Demonstone, though the display nearly exhausts him 56 58 68 71 72.

Territory and the Burning Legion

After returning home, Er Dongsheng claims the land south of the mountains, kills Chixiao, and arranges for seized trading-ground goods to be exchanged for food. His subsequent conquests produce Destruction Castle, the Burning Legion, and an elite Destruction Squad whose teams compete for rank under his authority. Their destruction also supplies him with energy 80 148 149.

Seeking to surpass his bloodline’s limits and prepare for the Wind King, he repeatedly refines it. A later breakthrough fuses his Bloodline Source with his Phoenix Divine Soul. When Weiduolasi and the Fourth Squad attempt to abandon him during his apparent death, Er Dongsheng returns and the squad disappears; a masked replacement takes its place 144 147 171 173.

The Underground Ruins and the Scarlet Key

A mysterious weapon-like figure entrusts Er Dongsheng with half a Scarlet Key and warns him against other key-bearers and even those close to him. At the Underground Ruins, Er Dongsheng orders an attack on the perimeter demons. Scarlet marks left by the Key trigger Second Awakenings among members of his forces 194 195.

He confronts the Wind King within the Ruins, then turns a prepared Summoning Array against gathered demons, consuming their life energy and bloodline essence. Drawing on a powerful drop of Blood Essence, he unleashes a colossal Phoenix attack that devastates the battlefield; the Wind King’s fate remains uncertain after his escape attempt 199 202 203.

Clones, Runes, and the Spacetime Maze

Er Dongsheng’s further experiments produce distinct Baal and Mephisto aspects associated with destruction and ruin. On a strange island, he expels a shadowy infestation that becomes a remnant of the demon soul once merged with him. Surviving subsequent dangers brings changes to his runes, body, and Dark Mark, while leaving him with unresolved questions about his identity and the Abyssal Will 258 278 279 282 284 285.

He obtains a World Stone and investigates the Ruins, where a mist-formed figure calls his union of powers taboo. Later, his Fire Element Controller and the projection of an unfinished Destruction-associated prison give him new means to challenge an opposing prison projection 294 312.

Fire Prison and Later Campaigns

Er Dongsheng’s Magic Network and transformed powers allow him to challenge the Fire Prison ruler Geer. After Geer escapes, Er Dongsheng continues the massacre on the battlefield and demands three-quarters of eastern Fire Prison despite the objections of its other rulers 431 432.

In the Mutant Furnace, he forges Demon God’s Left Arm and shatters part of the Thorn Wheel to rescue Belphegor. He subsequently studies mutation through the Wheel of Time and Space and prepares a third clone, Diabolo, for a campaign in the Wizard World. With larger conflicts approaching, he plans to expand his army and invade more worlds to accelerate his growth 462 473 480 482 495.
