Background

Er Dongsheng possesses memories from a former human life on Earth and inhabits an Abyss Demon body. Before arriving in the Abyss, he trained under an elderly Daoist-oriented master in internal and external martial arts, alchemy, fist techniques, exorcism, and feng shui. His master refused to serve corrupt officials or wealthy people lacking benevolence, an ethical standard Er Dongsheng remembers with affection 6.

For roughly three years, he survived alone in a forest region of the Abyss. His original demon body had only average innate qualities, so he compensated through disciplined martial training, hunting, experimentation with local plants, and careful resource storage. He became the dominant predator of his local woodland while remaining just short of Level One 2 5.

Er Dongsheng rejected the usual Abyssal path of growth through slaughter and chance evolution. Instead, he pursued the martial path of refining essence, qi, and spirit, though his demon physiology prevented him from using a human-style dantian 5 6.

Er Dongsheng's body changes substantially as he evolves. Before his Level One breakthrough, he is a relatively small Abyss Demon covered in dusty gray scales; his specially trained tail is distinguished by glossy black scales 5 17.
