It was a cavern roughly two hundred meters across, hidden deep in the heart of the island.
A vast Magic Array covered the floor. Countless chains shot from it and bound something in place—a massive heart dozens of meters wide.
Thump, thump.
The enormous heart kept beating, sending waves of overwhelming pressure in every direction.
Strangely, all that pressure seemed trapped within the Magic Array. Er Dongsheng felt none of it. He could only see the distortions it made in the air, so dense they seemed almost solid.
Beneath the heart, a small pool glimmered. Bloody water continually surged from it, passed through the surrounding Magic Array and along the chains, then poured into the heart.
Scarlet mist filled the cavern. Even the walls were damp. Er Dongsheng touched one and found his hand stained bright red.
The walls were like the inside of a living creature, crisscrossed with scarlet blood vessels. When he pressed his hand against them, he could sense blood rushing through those raised veins beneath the cold stone.
A cold, sinister feeling crept over him. Er Dongsheng narrowed his eyes, deep in thought.
He turned away from the eerie walls and studied the array on the floor instead, tracing it stroke by stroke.
"That pattern represents blood. That's a small inlaid array for teleportation through the void. And this is..." Er Dongsheng spotted an unfamiliar black beast-head design at the array's center. For a moment, he could not work out its purpose.
He had no memory of it and had never seen anything like it before.
"Interesting. I don't recognize most of this. That's impressive." He sighed. He had unlocked a small portion of the Demon Warlock's knowledge, and while he could not claim to know more than anyone else in the Starry Sky, he knew
