"This is..." Mordekaiser's expression changed abruptly.

A strange unease had come over him without warning. He scanned his surroundings cautiously but found nothing.

"Roar!"

At his roar, every demon attacking the city's Barrier stopped and looked at him in confusion.

"Fall back. That's enough for today!" Mordekaiser barked.

"My lord, but today's attack has only just begun!" A small Hellfire came over, puzzled.

Bang!

A massive flaming fist answered him.

The poor creature was sent flying.

He crashed through a great swath of trees and flowers with a thunderous rumble.

"I said retreat. Now! Did you not hear me? Do I have to say it again?"

"Hm?"

Mordekaiser's face darkened, and his voice turned icy.

He seemed genuinely angry.

Or perhaps that deep unease had made him anxious.

"Yes! As you command!"

The countless demons shuddered. They looked at the furious Mordekaiser, then at the unlucky creature who had just picked himself up, and hurried to comply.

The demons rumbled toward the Domain of Destruction, vanished into the dense black fog, and were gone.

Mordekaiser left last. He cast another puzzled look around. Apart from the humans breathing sighs of relief in the Castle opposite him, he still found nothing.

"What happened? That's it for today?" a human Mage muttered, unable to believe it.

"Yeah. What are those things up to?" his companion murmured, equally baffled.

The humans standing guard began whispering among themselves.
