One year later~
Along the vast coastline south of the Highland, countless Sea Folk charged heedlessly forward, only to leave Demon Beast corpses behind, one after another.
Blood had stained almost half the coastline red.
Awooo~
A half-human, half-beast Demon Beast roared, a trace of excitement in its voice.
It had just torn apart a powerful Wizard and swallowed him. Feeling surging energy course through its body, it wanted nothing more than to roar to the heavens.
But then~
Boom!
Black Flame suddenly burst from within its body and swallowed it whole. The massive Demon Beast's corpse, flesh and bloodline alike, vanished in the flames.
"Hmph. Daring to devour one of our Wizards? You must be tired of living. You brought this on yourself!"
A Wizard who had been rushing over to help saw this and gave a cold laugh.
Still...
"What a waste!" A pained look crossed the Wizard's face.
He was mourning only the Demon Beast corpse consumed by Black Flame. That was a fortune in Contribution Points!
To Wizards now, Contribution Points meant power. With enough of them, even if you were a pig, the Magic Network could turn you into a pig Magic Beast!
Contribution Points had thus become the most important thing to Wizards. A Wizard's potential and power were no longer measured solely by the forces behind him or his own talent and strength, but increasingly by how many Contribution Points he possessed!
Those with plenty of Contribution Points were respectfully called "Ascenders" by all Wizards, signifying that they could advance at any moment.
