A bloody massacre erupted across the vast city. Soon, blood ran in rivers.
The four factions' joint assault caught every Demon off guard. Fourth-Level Demons died, Third-Level Demons became cannon fodder, and countless Demons were reduced to bloody energy that seeped deep underground through cracks in the surface.
Everyone was consumed by bloodlust. Faced with death on a massive scale, the Demons banded together and began fighting the four factions.
The horrific slaughter finally slowed.
But the four factions had achieved their goal. The Bloodied Nest had simply paid a terrible price, losing nearly half its forces.
The Bloodied Nest was said to be hated by almost everyone in the Fifth Layer. Its members fed on blood—and worse, on Demon blood. The stronger the Demon, the more they craved its blood. Even compared with the Burning Legion, which destroyed everything in its path, they were especially notorious there.
The Burning Legion's destruction struck other Demons as mighty, even inspiring. The blood-drinking Bloodied Nest, on the other hand, earned nothing but contempt.
More importantly, the Bloodied Nest seemed to be a single race. It stood apart and accepted no outsiders. The Burning Legion was different: win the recognition of Destruction, Ruin, or Fear, and your faction could become a subordinate force of the Legion's official
