Whether by chance or design, Samuel always seemed to kill gods above the Summoning Array. Three or four mighty gods had already fallen there, their flesh and blood slowly seeping into the void.
Gradually, the enormous array began to turn. It seemed to draw in traces of energy from the battlefield, and some of its Nodes brightened, emerging into view.
Throughout the battle, Samuel kept steering the force of both sides' attacks toward those Nodes, seemingly without intent. Every vast surge of energy made them tremble wildly.
But the fighting was too fierce for anyone to watch the array. No one noticed Samuel's actions. The details were too small, and one careless move against him could plunge them into eternal ruin. Even Soros and the Star Titan guarded their minds, not daring to relax for an instant. Unnoticed, the giant array drank in the gods' flesh and blood, and more and more Nodes lit up. At last, they could no longer remain hidden. They burst into blazing light, and flames ignited at the array's center.
"No! Damn it, we've fallen into a trap!"
