A crashing wave instantly knocked Metal Lee down.

He had never practiced surfing. No matter how gifted he was at Taijutsu or how well he could control his body, it was useless.

He was swallowed by the waves.

Behind him, Boruto had just ridden up the crest of a wave. When he saw Metal Lee get knocked down and vanish from sight, his pupils dilated.

"He disappeared."

Boruto was startled, but he was already standing atop the wave. He could only control his body and maintain his balance.

Mitsuki rode up beside him and said with a smile, "Not bad. You controlled the surfboard without falling on your first try."

The entire eye gave off a different kind of light.

But the phenomenon vanished in a flash.

Boruto's eye regained its focus, and he asked Mitsuki, "Did that person just die?"

He could not believe that someone would die during nothing more than an initiation ceremony.

He had long heard that ninja were cruel, but only now did he truly see it.

Logically, his dad would never let new students die in a place like this. But emotionally, he had just watched that person fall into the sea.
