Li Yunxin survived pursuit by Daoists and sword sect disciples with help from demons, spirits, and his uncanny painting skill. After the Tongming Jade Slip revealed the Painting Saint’s knowledge, he left the forest with the cat demon to investigate his parents’ past and why he was being hunted.

• Li Yunxin escaped Ninth Young Master and Qinghe Town, then exposed himself to Constable Xing and used his living paintings to draw the demon back, where Ninth Young Master killed Xing and his men.
• Red Pine Master and Kang Cangzi pursued Li Yunxin for the Tongming Jade Slip, but he disrupted their attack and joined the Hongfu Escort Agency, accepting Liu Laodao as his master.
• Six Ghosts of Hezhong captured the escort party to gather victims for Huainanzi’s tribulation, while Li Yunxin used a painting and Liu Laodao’s spell to learn their plans.
• Li Yunxin killed one swordsman with a painted decoy, but another killed Qiao Jiaxin before Li Yunxin fled into the Temple of Lady Three Flowers.
• Li Yunxin summoned the Unparalleled Sword Saint to kill Chen Yi'an, then helped the cat demon possess Qiao Jiaxin’s corpse and faced Huainanzi, who was seeking revenge and a death tribulation.
• Bai Yunxin and her maid arrived, and the maid swallowed Huainanzi and his flying swords before Bai Yunxin left to find Ninth Young Master.
• The cat demon resumed control of Qiao Jiaxin’s corpse, and Li Yunxin opened the Tongming Jade Slip to discover the Painting Saint’s knowledge.
• Li Yunxin set out with the cat demon to investigate his parents’ seclusion and the reason for his pursuit, while Bai Yunxin’s supposedly buried sword reappeared at his waist.

Li Yunxin returned to Weicheng, used Votive Power to ease the restriction on his cultivation, and became entangled in the Qiao Household’s plot against Liu Laodao and Meng E. He killed Prefect Li through a fear-driven experiment and explained the method to Liu Laodao, while the Qiao family’s fate remained unresolved.

• Li Yunxin saved the gravely wounded Qiao Duanhong, brought him to Weicheng with Liu Laodao, and later learned that Yu Meng had helped escort them back.
• Li Yunxin discovered that the Black-and-White Yamas feared taking souls connected to him, while Qiao Jiaxin fell into a demonic trance and fled toward distant fires.
• Li Yunxin replaced the Dragon King statue with a portrait of Jia Wen and Xiwana, drawing worshippers whose Votive Power helped him loosen the restriction on his Snow Mountain Qi Sea.
• Meng E found Qiao Duanhong apparently dead, killed two attendants, and attacked the Qiao Household before collapsing and being arrested for murder.
• Li Yunxin learned that the Qiao women and Prefect Li were targeting Liu Laodao’s property, investigated the yamen’s Yin Spirit Array, and decided to kill the prefect.
• Li Yunxin entered the hearing and used buried fear to make Prefect Li die of his hereditary heart condition, then announced that he had killed him.
• Punanzi killed Qiao Liushi, while Li Yunxin warned Yin Pingzhi to protect Meng E and keep Qiao Jiaming and Qiao Wangshi away from him.
• At Munan Residence, Li Yunxin explained to Liu Laodao how he had used Aze’s prompts and a court-room trigger to revive Prefect Li’s memories of Ninth Young Master and bring on his fatal fear.
