Background

Li died of cancer in his twenties in his previous life before being reborn into the Marvel world. His parents died shortly after his birth, leaving Tony Stark to raise him as family. Determined to protect Tony and survive a universe he knew to be dangerous, Li began secretly studying technology while still in elementary school. 1

His intelligence improved drastically after rebirth. By fourth grade, he had created the first version of his Vision armor from Mark I concepts, viewing Vision as the basis for a loyal artificial intelligence rather than merely another suit of armor. 1

Li’s foreknowledge of Marvel events made him anxious about threats such as Whiplash, Hydra, and Kang. Although he initially could not openly explain that knowledge, he used it to prepare defenses, warn Tony, and collaborate with Helen Cho on the Vision Prototype. 1 3

After surviving the Whiplash crisis and a three-day coma, Li recognized that Tony, Helen, Pepper, Happy, and the people waiting beside his bed had become the “strongest armor” in his life. 4

Personality

Li is fundamentally protective. His earliest goal was to keep Tony and himself alive, but that instinct gradually expanded to include friends, displaced survivors, allies from other worlds, and eventually entire realities. He consistently identifies himself as a protector rather than a ruler. 1 111

Despite his power, Li is cautious about corruption and autonomy. He refused immediate access to Vaermina, Sanguine, and Boethiah’s powers because he feared they could reshape his personality, and later confronted Vianna when her optimization logic began overriding his ability to choose for himself. 175 206

He is inventive, observant, and quick to improvise under pressure. Li combines engineering analysis with empathy: he used sonic technology to disrupt Moonstar’s phantoms, then projected the hopeful imagery from her artwork to help her regain control. 62

Li initially struggled with the emotional pressure of leading a large family and accepting love from many people. Qiu’s reassurance helps him reframe love as something shared rather than divided, allowing him to become more confident and emotionally open. 206 207

His compassion does not prevent him from making severe decisions. After Apocalypse threatened Stark Tower and Qiu, Li concluded that sparing him would endanger innocents and erased him with Divine Punishment, then privately questioned whether the act was morally justified. 223 224

Abilities & Skills

Engineering and Artificial Intelligence

Li is a gifted inventor who began designing armor as a child and later became capable of integrating advanced science with magic and divine energy.

  • Built the original Vision armor and developed the Vision Prototype with Helen Cho. 1 3
  • Designed adaptive nanomaterial armor, stealth systems, sonic devices, miniature trackers, scanners, and specialized protective equipment. 20 37 62
  • Uses J.A.R.V.I.S. for tactical calculations, including demolition analysis and magical-machinery disruption. 92
  • Understands the interaction between technological and magical energy systems, including ancient First Era machinery and Arc Reactor resonance. 109
  • His technology can be weakened by highly magical environments, as demonstrated in Skyrim’s blizzard and troll battles. 87

Arc Reactor Armor

Li’s armor serves as both a combat platform and the core around which his later supernatural powers converge.

  • Provides flight, repulsor blasts, palm cannons, energy shielding, and high-speed maneuverability. 63 87 89
  • Can deploy stealth mode and sonic disruption technology. 62
  • Supports his Arc Reactor-enhanced dragon armor designs for Enora. 109
  • Functions alongside divine, magical, and symbiotic powers rather than replacing them. 96 98

Chaos Magic and Asgardian Divine Power

Li wields Chaos Magic and Asgardian Divine Power as major components of his evolving arsenal.

  • Uses Chaos Magic offensively, defensively, and for battlefield restraint. 69 98
  • Channels divine lightning alongside Arc Reactor energy and Symbiote strength. 96
  • Can combine Chaos Magic with holy light, though the interaction is initially unstable and painful. 98 101
  • His conflicting energies can overload him, requiring emotional or magical support from allies such as Aela. 101 102

Symbiote Bond

Li possesses a volatile Symbiote that can manifest blades, tendrils, whips, restraints, and enhanced physical force.

  • Used Symbiote tendrils, mechanical strength, and repulsors to defeat bandits and rescue Sofia. 89
  • Can form claw blades enhanced by wolf-spirit battle paste to disrupt blood magic. 92
  • The Symbiote reacts defensively to danger and may become increasingly difficult to control in hostile magical conditions. 87 95
  • Its instability can worsen when Li’s divine marks and magical forces conflict. 101 103

Divine Marks and Holy Light

Li’s body bears divine marks and blessings that connect him to the goddesses of Nirn.

  • Meridia’s Beacon grants purifying holy light capable of cleansing corruption and destroying undead magic. 98
  • The Holy Light Mark can conflict with Chaos Magic, Asgardian power, the Symbiote, and the Arc Reactor. 101 102
  • Meridia’s Unification strengthened Li but bound a portion of his soul to her influence. 100
  • By the time of his return to Earth, seven goddesses had bestowed blessings upon him and could manifest through his marks. 127
  • The full potential of eleven divine powers later grants broad danger sensing and awareness of allies across universes. 265

Hircine’s Hunting Authority

After defeating Hircine in the Hunting Realm, Li gained authority over the Daedric Prince of the Hunt.

  • Can summon Hircine through the blood-red Godhead Fragment. 111 138
  • Hircine can invoke Hunting Law to immobilize prey and use hunting spears and Hunting Fire to erase hostile Symbiotes. 138
  • Li earned Hircine’s submission through mercy and by redefining hunting as protection rather than slaughter. 111
  • Li remains cautious about using Hircine because the Daedric Prince is loyal but dangerous. 172

Power Coordination

Li’s defining talent is not merely accumulating power, but harmonizing sources that should be incompatible.

  • Kara teaches him to act as a coordinator rather than a dictator over his powers. 184
  • His protective intent and respect for each power allow holy, Daedric, technological, magical, and cosmic forces to coexist without corrupting him. 179 184
  • He can empower allies remotely, turning emotional trust into a practical battlefield advantage. 298
  • This harmony is recognized by Odin, Professor Xavier, the Nova Corps, the Shi’ar, and the Cosmic Gods as unprecedented. 147 179 184 267

Cosmic Gifts

Li received additional powers after passing the tests of Eternity, Death, Annihilation, and Galactus.

  • Greater perception of time and space from Eternity. 267
  • Power to protect life from death, granted by Death. 267
  • Courage and resilience against the Void, granted by Annihilation. 267
  • Insight into cosmic balance, granted by Galactus. 267
  • His greatest demonstrated strength is the ability to reject false binary choices and seek solutions that preserve more lives. 267
