The Flaw of Awakening the Eyes

"What's wrong with us? We were telling the truth. If you hadn't awakened your eyes too, we wouldn't even have bothered explaining ourselves to you." The three Uchiha whose awakened eyes had directly caused the defeat spoke with disdain, their voices brimming with arrogance.

"That's right. Didn't you know I awakened my eyes? Yet you kept refusing to pass the ball to me. You deserved to lose." The first Uchiha forward to awaken his eyes spoke coldly, his tone full of mockery.

"Is that why you kept strolling around the field after awakening your eyes?" The Uchiha goalkeeper widened his eyes, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Heh, if you weren't going to pass me the ball, what else was I supposed to do besides stroll around?" The Uchiha forward said proudly, his tone full of contempt. "The result proved that you couldn't score without me."

"Why? You only awakened the Sharingan. Why did you become so arrogant?" Uchiha Mion asked in disbelief, her eyes full of disappointment.

"Hmph. Before awakening the Sharingan, we had to mingle with people who hadn't awakened it. Now that we have awakened it, are we still supposed to mingle with you people who haven't? Then wouldn't we have awakened it for nothing?" they said disdainfully, their voices dripping with mockery.

"So what now? Are you planning to leave this team?" Uchiha Mion asked coldly, a trace of anger in her voice.

"No. You're the ones joining our team. From now on, those of us who have awakened our eyes will give the orders. You only need to obey." The awakened Uchiha looked at those who had not awakened their eyes, their tone full of arrogance.

"Uchiha Chuan said that anything can happen in soccer. Unity is what matters most," Uchiha Mion said urgently, helplessness creeping into her voice.

"What does a guy who hasn't awakened his eyes and never even played know?" the awakened Uchiha said disdainfully, their tones filled with contempt.

"Exactly."

The Uchiha revered strength in their bones. Only when they realized strength was not enough would they respect wisdom. Adult Uchiha had been beaten down by society and knew how hard life could be. But the young Uchiha had never suffered that kind of beating.

Moreover, from their perspective, Uchiha Chuan had merely stirred up some trouble and made the Konoha Leadership back down. Clearly, the impressive one was not Uchiha Chuan, but the Uchiha Clan. As for Stilt Football, it was merely the icing on the cake. They had awakened their eyes not because of Stilt Football, but because of their own talent. Stilt Football had only happened to bring that talent out.

So after awakening their eyes, their desire to replace Uchiha Chuan and become the Uchiha Clan's geniuses and leaders was obvious. Under such circumstances, there was no use reasoning with them.

So Uchiha Chuan turned and left.

But Uchiha Mion did not understand any of this, and she was furious.

"You... you're completely unreasonable!" Uchiha Mion said angrily, her eyes filled with disappointment and helplessness.

"Hmph, you're the unreasonable ones. We've awakened our eyes. We are the future of the Uchiha Clan. Those of you who haven't awakened yours should obediently follow our commands." The awakened Uchiha spoke proudly, their tones full of contempt.

Just like that, the once-invincible Uchiha Team broke apart on bad terms.

"Damn it, how could they be like this?" Uchiha Mion went to the First, Second, and Third Elders to complain through tears.

After hearing Uchiha Mion's account, the First Elder revealed a bitter smile and let out a deep sigh. "So it's like this again?"

"What do you mean, 'like this again'?" Uchiha Mion frowned in confusion, her eyes full of doubt.

The First Elder shook his head, his tone grave. "This is an Uchiha secret, not something you should know yet. Mion, go back first. We'll go speak with Little Chuan."

"Hmph, Little Chuan hasn't even awakened his eyes yet. Why can he know when I can't?" Uchiha Mion pouted unhappily, clearly dissatisfied by the elders' different treatment.

"Mion, could it be that, like those people, you can no longer control the arrogance in your heart after awakening your eyes?" The First Elder frowned, his voice carrying a stern question.

"What are you talking about? I'm not like that! Fine, then don't tell me! Bleh!" Uchiha Mion made a face unhappily, then turned and stormed off.

Soon, the three elders found Uchiha Chuan fishing by the river. He sat there with a fishing rod in hand, looking relaxed and content, as though none of the troubles of the outside world had anything to do with him.

"Are the three elders here because of the Uchiha Youth Soccer Team?" Uchiha Chuan asked without turning around, a faint hint of teasing in his voice.

"Yes. Mion has already told us what happened." The First Elder nodded, his tone grave.

"What do you think?" Uchiha Chuan still did not turn around. He merely gave the fishing rod a light tug, as though waiting for something.

"Little Chuan, when you designed Stilt Football, did you already know it might cause members of the Uchiha Clan to awaken their eyes?" the First Elder asked directly, staring intently at Uchiha Chuan's back.

"Not really. I had even been considering finding an opportunity to make something else specifically to help awaken their eyes. But now it seems that the Uchiha awakening their eyes is not entirely a good thing." Uchiha Chuan spoke calmly, a faint trace of emotion in his voice.

"Awakening the eyes too young is not a good thing." The First Elder shook his head helplessly.

"Oh? Clan Head Fugaku never mentioned that to me." Uchiha Chuan finally turned around, curiosity in his eyes.

"That's because Clan Head Fugaku didn't know either. If not for what happened today, I would have nearly forgotten that awakening the eyes too early was not a good thing." The First Elder gave a bitter smile, a complicated emotion flashing through his eyes.

"Tell me in detail." Uchiha Chuan set down his fishing rod, interest in his voice.

The First Elder took a deep breath and slowly said, "Just as you saw, if the Uchiha awaken their eyes too early and lack sufficiently firm convictions, they become very arrogant. Back when the Uchiha internal conflict ended, I was still young. My grandfather was the Uchiha's First Elder at the time. One day, I accidentally overheard a conversation between my father and the Second Hokage. They were discussing the matter of having the Uchiha Clan take full responsibility for the Konoha Military Police Force. My grandfather did not think it was a good thing and firmly opposed it. It was not until the Second Hokage produced research showing that the Uchiha Clan had too few people awakening their eyes and were prone to arrogance that my grandfather seemed to finally agree to have the Uchiha Clan take full responsibility for the Konoha Military Police Force."

At this point, a glimmer of recollection flashed through the First Elder's eyes, and his tone grew heavy. "Later, I forgot about this matter. But after hearing Mion's account just now, I remembered it again. One line in particular said that the Uchiha internal conflict back then began because too many Uchiha awakened their eyes too early, causing drastic emotional changes and arrogant personalities."

If you hadn't exposed certain matters recently, Little Chuan, I would never have remembered that my grandfather had once fiercely opposed binding the Uchiha Clan to the Police Force. Yet in the end, he still agreed. Clearly, there was a more important reason. Now, I finally understand completely." The First Elder smiled bitterly, helplessness and self-mockery in his voice.

"When the Uchiha awaken their eyes too early, we become an unstable factor. So the Uchiha Clan itself needs to be suppressed. Only by being held down can we restrain the swelling arrogance that comes after awakening our eyes as much as possible. Thus, the village needs the Police Force to restrain us, and we Uchiha also need the Police Force to restrain ourselves. However, your appearance, Little Chuan, broke that restraint. Now, those Uchiha brats who awakened their eyes early have returned to the same arrogance and conceit of the past." The First Elder's voice was filled with deep concern.

After hearing this, Uchiha Chuan could not help shaking his head, a speechless expression appearing on his face. So the Uchiha really are evil Uchiha?
