Skye had returned home as well—to her adoptive parents' house.

Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar house, Skye sighed and stepped inside. It had been ten years, hadn't it? Did her adoptive parents still remember her?

After ten years, they had to be over sixty by now, right?

To be honest, she really didn't know how old her parents were.

Well, that was a common family problem. Parents remembered their children's birthdays, but children generally did not remember their fathers' birthdays, much less their ages. At most, they knew what Chinese zodiac sign they were born under.

Standing at the door, Skye sighed. Her adoptive parents could not be said to have treated her particularly well, but they had not treated her badly either.

After thinking for a long time, she finally pressed the doorbell.

"Who is it?"

An elderly woman with graying hair opened the door. When she saw Skye, she froze for a moment, then her eyes welled up.

"Cori... Is my little Cori back?"

Then she began to sob.

Skye had not expected her adoptive mother to recognize her at a glance.

"Mom..."

She had barely opened her mouth when an angry roar came from inside the house, sounding remarkably forceful.

"What is she back for? Tell her to leave. I don't have a daughter like that. I don't have such an ungrateful daughter."

This was rather awkward.

"Old man, why are you yelling? Little Cori, don't mind him. Old men get like this when they get older... always throwing their weight around. Come, come, hurry inside..." The old woman grabbed Skye's hand and wept as she pulled her into the house.

Her adoptive father wore reading glasses and sat on the living room sofa reading the newspaper. Though he appeared to be
