Background

Cori Sutter was raised by Gregory and Janet Sutter. After learning as a teenager that they had concealed the truth of her adoption, she ran away and remained estranged from them for years. By age twenty, she had dropped out of school, lived as a hacker and thief, and had not yet founded Rising Tide; “Skye” was only a little-known online signature. 120 487

Kino first seeks her out for her computer skills rather than her latent abilities. Felicia Hardy eventually locates her despite having little reliable information to work with. 85 120

Skye's former boyfriend, Austin, abandons her when confronted by Kino. Kino then leverages information about her biological parents and latent genes to make her agree to join him, though Skye repeatedly insists that she is not property and maintains boundaries against his demands. Personality

Skye is intelligent, skeptical, and habitually sarcastic. When trapped inside Kino's ghost-wall illusion, she remains more composed than Austin, tests what she can verify, and attempts to reason through the altered environment even after her phone compass fails. 121

Her determination to learn her origins is her defining motivation. She rejects Kino's offer of an immediate explanation and instead joins Coulson's team so she can uncover the truth herself, even though doing so leaves her vulnerable to danger and loss. 242 243
