[Brain Storage]
(Up front: gender-bender, no marriage, emotional arcs with several female characters, but they are not the main plot. Aside from the protagonist, another male character will undergo a gender change. She is a junior, has no romance arc, only a mentor-disciple bond. Her purpose is to advance the plot and reveal the protagonist's past.)
"I don't like this world. People are all chasing their selfish desires—money, power, fame... How boring."
Night.
The wind howled across the rooftop.
The blonde Magical Girl in a black-and-gold dress spoke lazily, wearily.
Even among girls, she was petite, only around five feet tall, yet she held a staff longer than she was.
The staff in her hand was pointed directly at the white-robed woman standing at the rooftop entrance.
The white-robed woman's snow-white robe was tattered, barely hanging over a body clad in a black bodysuit. The bodysuit itself was already in ruins. Her crimson eyes flickered with panic and fear.
"If that's the case, why don't you join us? We came here to destroy this place! Don't we share the same goal? As long as you join us, you can become a Witch who rules over her own domain. You can have whatever you want! You won't have to keep suffering here, taking orders from those animals at the Special Incident Response Department!"
The wind was fierce, making the white-robed woman's voice difficult to hear.
The oversized black-and-gold bow on the Magical Girl's head flapped noisily by her ears in the wind, irritating her. She tore it off and casually tossed it away.
The bow transformed into a black ribbon adorned with golden lace, and in the blink of an eye, the wind carried it somewhere unknown, where it vanished beyond the horizon.
Freed from the bow's restraint, her golden twin ponytails fell loose around her shoulders, swaying wildly in the wind.
Moonlight shone behind her, its glow blocked by her loose hair.
Backlit, her dark golden eyes glimmered faintly.
The corners of her lips curled upward.
"Join you? You've got it wrong."
Her voice sounded somewhat childish.
But no one would have thought those words came from a child. A lively child should not have possessed such a gloomy, flat tone, devoid of ripples like a stagnant pool.
"You only want to rule the world in a different way," she said.
Black and white light coiled around the tip of her staff.
The white-robed woman grew even more terrified.
"We can talk this out! We could be friends, couldn't we?!"
"But I like watching you die."
Magic power charging—
Stage one—
Stage two—
Stage three—
"What are you doing?! You don't need that to kill me! Are you trying to destroy the entire building?!"
Stage four—
Stage five—
Knowing she was doomed, the white-robed woman burst into mad laughter. "Even if you kill me, you've already been infected by Witch aura. The Abyss Witch has noticed you. You can't escape! One day, you'll fall and become a Witch too—one of us! Hahaha!"
The black-and-white halos explosively gathered at the staff's tip. Black, which should have had no color, condensed into substance, intertwining with white into a richness like a lollipop. The color was so rich it even looked delicious—
"Boom!!"
Black and white rays intertwined into a spiral, piercing through the white-robed woman's body in an instant.
An invisible blast of air bloomed where she had stood, scattering sand and dust across the rooftop. Her body seemed to turn into ripples; her terrified face, like a drop of ink falling into the void, spread through the air in circles before abruptly fading away.
The next instant, the light faded. The woman, along with the rooftop water tank, had vanished without a trace.
Only a tiny scrap from the hem of her clothes spun once through the air before falling to the ground.
The Magical Girl put away her staff. The extremely long staff turned into particles and vanished into the air in the blink of an eye.
A girl's crying came from nearby.
It was a mother and daughter who had been taken hostage and brought here.
"Mom, Mommy, the bad guy won. Are we going to die?" the girl cried tremblingly.
The mother held her child tightly, staring at the Magical Girl before them in terror.
The Magical Girl cast them a sidelong glance, then walked to where the white-robed woman had been and picked up the ID badge she had left behind.
"Will you kill us?" the mother asked tremblingly.
The black-and-gold Magical Girl gave a cold, haughty snort. Ignoring her, she glanced at the two young girls who had long since collapsed on the ground nearby.
One of the young Magical Girls wore a light blue dress, while the other wore a pale yellow dress. They were strikingly conspicuous.
Magical Girls were always like this, wearing gaudy, colorful dresses to symbolize things like love and justice.
"Don't provoke her. This person can't be a good person..." The blue-dressed girl forced herself up from the ground, bracing herself with the blue grimoire in her hand.
Judging from the way she bared her teeth in pain, she still seemed to want another round with her.
Fu You did not like Magical Girls like that.
They overestimated themselves.
"Sleeping whenever you feel like it on a battlefield isn't a good habit."
Young Magical Girls were always prone to such mistakes.
Without paying them any further attention, she leaped off the rooftop.
She landed lightly.
The area below had already been surrounded by police officers and investigators from the Special Incident Response Department.
The moment they saw her land, everyone wanted to step forward and ask what had happened. She drew her cloak tighter, swept her gaze around, and ignored them all. With a stomp, she leaped high into the air, then ran along the walls of the high-rises, swiftly disappearing into the darkness.
She did not like this world, nor did she like so many people.
The bracelet on her right wrist, somewhat oversized against her delicate arm, glowed faintly. The limiter was desperately suppressing the surging magic power in her body, afraid she might attack ordinary people.
Annoyed, she smacked the bracelet against a wall. The bracelet, which had been flashing moments before, immediately behaved itself and stopped blinking. Though the suppression it imposed had not lessened, at least its light would no longer irritate her.
In the darkness of night, she pulled her black cloak tightly around herself, wrapped up her golden hair, and swiftly melted into the shadows.
Walking through the darkness, she reached a secluded place.
As black radiance coiled around her, the girl's roughly five-foot frame gradually stretched taller. The black dress traced with golden lines, the translucent black cloak, black stockings, black gloves, leather shoes patterned in gold, and the huge golden bow on her back all disappeared.
All that remained in the alley was a black-haired boy standing over five and a half feet tall.
His hair was slightly long, falling to his shoulders. In a short-sleeved T-shirt, jeans, and red sneakers, he looked like an ordinary student. Only the pair of conspicuous red studs in his ears stood out—something no school would permit a student to wear, especially not a boy.
With his hands in his pockets, he walked out of the alley, his black eyes faintly gleaming red as he wearily glanced around.
No one noticed him.
He yawned, bought a bottle of cola from a convenience store by the roadside, twisted it open, and gulped down more than half the bottle.
He was indeed a Magical Girl, but he was clearly a man.
"Hey, Fu You. I've taken care of what you asked me to do."
The slightly seductive voice of an adult woman sounded behind him.
The boy—Fu You—turned around.
He glanced at the newcomer. She had long black hair and wore a black bodysuit so tight it was clearly meant to accentuate her trim figure.
Fu You looked at her only once before shifting his gaze away.
"The Abyss Witch will come to your home tomorrow," the woman added.
Fu You nodded.
"The Witch energy in your body is almost beyond its limit. Watch yourself, kid." The woman turned, preparing to leave.
"Hey, Black Card."
The woman turned back.
"Pay for me." Fu You walked away.
The woman's face darkened.
"It's only three yuan!"
Fu You waved a hand. "Put it on the Abyss Witch's tab."
