"You really can't read the situation."
Jones was helpless in the face of Mingde's persistence. He had no desire to fight him. It would be bullying, plain and simple.
But judging by Mingde's attitude, Jones knew he would have to play the villain after all.
"What a bunch of fools who don't know their limits!" Jones snorted. In his Silverback Great Ape form, he roared and charged.
As Jones barreled toward him, Mingde took a deep breath, lowered his center of gravity, and fixed his eyes on Jones's movements.
"Get down!"
Jones closed the distance in a flash. With a roar, he raised his massive arm and swung it hard at Mingde. If it landed cleanly, Mingde would be gravely injured, if not killed.
The attack came fast. As a Land Beast, the Silverback Giant Ape needed no introduction when it came to close combat. In the blink of an eye, that huge palm was above Mingde's head.
At that instant, Mingde sprang into action. Gripping his Spiked Club with both hands, he launched himself past Jones's flank.

Geppo!
Drawing on every bit of his potential, Mingde shot diagonally above Jones. He tightened his grip on the Spiked Club and brought it crashing down toward Jones's head.
So fast!
Mingde's sudden burst of speed caught Jones off guard. Before he could turn his head, a tremendous blow struck the back of his skull and sent him stumbling forward.
But that was all it did.
Even Drake, whom Jones had dismissed as a lizard, could easily withstand Mingde's attack. Jones was far more formidable.
