Realizing Jones had played him for a fool, Crocodile felt like a volcano on the verge of eruption. Rage surged through him, so hot it nearly burned away his reason.
Crocodile was supremely confident in himself. That confidence came not only from his powerful Devil Fruit Powers, but also from his faith in his own intelligence.
He was the one who deceived others. Since when had anyone been able to deceive him?!
Even an ordinary person would be furious after being tricked, let alone someone as confident as he was.
He understood Jones's motive in a flash. After being drained to a husk, Jones could not possibly be as strong as he had appeared. His injuries were too severe for him to keep fighting. That punch had probably been the last one he could throw!
And what had Crocodile done?
He had stood there and watched Jones escape!
Feeling as though his intelligence had been insulted, Crocodile was furious now.
"Bastard! You dared to trick me!"
Crocodile rose to his feet, his eyes bloodshot. Blood filled his mouth where a tooth was missing, making him look utterly deranged.
He stared fixedly in the direction Jones had fled. Crocodile no longer cared about hiding his strength. He wanted Jones dead! Dead for good!!
He spread his feet and held his uninjured right hand before him. Specks of yellow sand gathered in his palm.
The sand did not merely clump together. As soon as it appeared in his palm, it spun rapidly clockwise, forming a small tornado. As more sand gathered, an ugly howl slowly rose in the air. A faint breeze passed, as though flicking a switch, and the surroundings abruptly grew dim.
Countless grains of sand converged around Crocodile, forming an enormous tornado that blotted out the sun!
