I was supposed to be having a lovely day.
It was the weekend. Dashu had gotten up at eight thirty, showered, eaten, and settled into a comfortable position to write an update. I was over a thousand words in when someone knocked on the door to offer holiday greetings and give me a pound of yak meat. That was when I remembered yesterday was the winter solstice.
But why the hell would anyone bring beef for the winter solstice? Yak meat, no less!
Then Dashu opened Bilibili and glanced at the recommended videos.
Those two things had nothing to do with each other, but whenever I see my phone, I have to fiddle with it. I can't help it!
The first row of recommendations had a video by a well-known "Hearthstone Casual" streamer, Director Gou. After watching it, I was itching to play, so I opened Hearthstone for a few rounds.
And got stomped over and over.
Dashu had only played the game for a few days when it first entered open beta, back in college. I barely touched it after finishing the matches against the AI. Coming back now, I knew nothing and had nothing, so I spent a few hundred yuan on packs, hoping to scrape together a deck.
So, do you know why I call it "Hearthstone Casual"?
Dashu was so annoyed that I opened Adventure mode to take on the Kobolds.
I still had three classes left to clear it with: Warrior, Paladin, and Warlock.
Warrior got wrecked as usual; I drew a dead hand and lost on the second boss. Warlock hit a midlife crisis and got taught a lesson by the Scepter of Burning. That left only Paladin.
On the eighth stage, against the big eye, I had some weapon that repeatedly triggered Deathrattles.
