Xide strode toward Kuina and the others. The Marines behind him charged with swords and guns raised. There were several hundred of them, and they soon surrounded Gin, Kuina, and the rest.

Then he swayed to his feet. He looked drunk, reeking of alcohol and barely able to stand.
But Xide waved a hand, and dozens of Marines rushed in. Gin suddenly sprang from the ground. A dark blur flashed past, and before one Marine could react, Gin smashed him hard in the neck. The man howled in pain and toppled over.
Gin hunched forward, kicked off with both legs, and charged the next Marine. His figure flickered, his tonfas whirling like the wind. In the blink of an eye, the first few dozen Marines to reach him were all on the ground, screaming.
Kuina drew Wado Ichimonji and launched herself into the air. She flashed past like a streak of light, her sword thrusting straight at Xide. He smiled coldly and stood his ground, making no move to dodge.
